Nail Art Tutorial: Holographic Rainbow Leopard Konadicure

Rainbow Leopard Konadicure SwatchRainbow Brite, eat your heart out! This Holographic Rainbow Leopard Konadicure is meant to steal the show. All Eyez on Me, 2Pac! (Yeah, that’s right. I just put Rainbow Brite and 2Pac in the same paragraph.)

I’ve always loved rainbows, but lately I’m obsessed with them. (It’s Clarins 230’s fault!)

From the second I saw SayAnythingBr00ke’s Lisa Frank inspired nail tutorial on YouTube, I knew I had to try it.

Check out more swatches, and see what I came up with following her directions.

While I’ll link to her video in my post, I’m also including my own tutorial with photos and step-by-step instructions in case it helps someone.

If you haven’t already tried this, now’s as good a time as any! Continue reading

Nail Art: Silver Swirl Konadicure Using MAC Jade Dragon, China Glaze Millennium & Konad Image Plate m63

MAC Jade Dragon Swatches KonadicureSome surprises aren’t welcome. Case in point: when I was in grade school, my mom once packed my lunch – it was sardines on top of spaghetti and melted processed cheese. Yuck!

Thankfully when I went on my latest rendezvous with Konad nail art, my surprise was a pleasant one. And it didn’t smell like fish. Or cheese.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with this Silver Swirl Konadicure featuring MAC Jade Dragon, China Glaze Millennium, and the Konad Image Plate m63. But, oh, I did!

Sure, it’s kinda tacky, but I dig it because it looks futuristic. Also, it brightened up MAC Jade Dragon.

What do you think about this Konadicure? Too messy? Too plain? Continue reading

Nail Art: Paisley Konadicure Using Rimmel Hit That & Konad Image Plate m60

Rimmel Flower Konadicure SwatchesI’m not normally a fan of paisley, but when it comes to anything nail-related, I’ll try anything. Sometimes I’m surprised by new things I end up digging .

This time I tried Rimmel Hit That (which I previously swatched and reviewed) and Konad Image Plate m60.

Here’s the result of the Paisley Konadicure – I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. Very ambivalent about it. Maybe in a different color it would be more exciting.

What do you think about the grayish purple-and-white combination? Have you used this image plate with another combination? Please share! Continue reading

Nail Art: Shooting Star Konadicure Using OPI Last Friday Night & Bundle Monster Image Plate BM21

Bundle Monster BM21 Image PlateBy itself, OPI Last Friday Night is a fun sheer glitter nail polish to wear that looks best when layered. But, you know me, I just had to kick it up a notch with some nail art!

In this Shooting Star Konadicure, I used the Bundle Monster Image Plate BM21, so perhaps I should’ve called this a Fauxnadicure.

Really love how this one turned out – reminds me of festive birthday wrapping paper for a kid’s present. It’s colorful, has a busy pattern, and yeah, it’s loaded with glitter!

For this little experiment, I decided not to use the Konad Special nail polishes and opted to try China Glaze Millennium for the star design. This proved to be a good call – worked just as well as the Konad special polishes because Millennium is a 1-coater.

Does this manicure remind you of your birthday parties when you were a child, too? Think there’s too much going on? Prefer pure minimalism on your nails instead? Let me know!

Nail Art: Green & Black Houndstooth Konadicure Using Orly It’s Not Rocket Science & Konad Image Plate m63

Houndstooth Konadicure Orly It's Not Rocket Science SwatchWho doesn’t love houndstooth? With the right color combination, it can look as classy as Audrey Hepburn in a sheath dress. But mix up the hues in favor of hyperactive neons or sassy shimmers and you’ve got yourself some edge!

For today’s nail art, I bring you a green and black houndstooth Konadicure featuring Orly It’s Not Rocket Science and Konad Image Plate m63.

I wore the poop out of this manicure because I loved it like Larry King loves his suspenders! Removed it reluctantly when the tipwear was looking grungy and the shine was fading.

This was the first time I tried a Konadicure using the houndstooth print, and it won’t be my last. I’ve already been thinking up different color combinations to try.

Houndstooth, how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Continue reading

Nail Art: BB Couture Frontier Woman Konadicure Using Konad Image Plate m78

Yellow & Green Konadicure SwatchesIt’s been a while since I’ve done a Konadicure. So today, I bring you the latest one featuring BB Couture Frontier Woman and Konad Image Plate m78!

I’m still a newbie at using the Konad Stamping Kit, but I’m pretty pleased with the results. With time, hopefully I’ll get better.

What I notice is that full-nail designs are much easier for me. When I did designs using individual graphics, it’s slightly more time-consuming.

Do you like this funky design and offbeat color combination?

It was really fun to wear, and it reminded me a lot of those thousand-leaves pastries my dad used to always buy. So in a weird way, this Konadicure is a little tribute to my father. Continue reading

Nail Art: OPI Wing It! Konadicure Using Konad Image Plates m57 & m78

OPI Wing It Swatches“Butterfly in the sky. I can go twice as high! Take a look. It’s in a book. A reading rainbow!” (Couldn’t help but make a nerdy Reading Rainbow reference. Who else remembers watching that show as a kid?)

Today’s Konadicure using OPI Wing It! is one of the girliest manicures I’ve ever sported. And to be honest, I wasn’t feelin’ it. Tried something different than my usual greens and purples, so give me credit for that.

After painting my nails with OPI Wing It!, I wasn’t sure which Konad image plate to use, so I took a cue from the polish name and went with butterflies! (Mariah Carey, eat your heart out!)

What do you think of the outcome? Good? Bad? Fugly? Don’t worry about hurting my feelings…I have none! Haha, just kidding. I wasn’t in love with this design, either. Continue reading
