Nail Art: Chanel Peridot Argyle Konadicure

Chanel Peridot Argyle Konadicure Swatches & PicturesYears ago, Justin Timberlake thought that he was bringing sexy back. Yeah right – he can’t hold a candle to Chanel Peridot or any other multichrome nail polish, for that matter!

You’ll remember that I sported this sexy beast a while ago and gushed in a blog post about how it was the first Chanel anything I’ve ever owned. (It still is.)

This time I wore it, I decided to give it a little makeover. Since I love argyle and wanted to do a look that combined posh with preppy, I thought it was only appropriate to do a Chanel Peridot Argyle Konadicure using Konad Image Plate m60.

As you can see, I goofed up the stamping on the index finger, but it didn’t really bother me because the overall look was exactly what I was going for – tacky! 😉 Seriously, sometimes tacky things make you smile like nothing else, and I needed something to smile about. Done and done!

It almost has a snakeskin feel to it, and as much as I dislike snakes, I really like the patterns on their skin.

Nail Art Tutorial: Tuxedo Nails

Tuxedo Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesDid you watch the Golden Globe Awards? I only got a chance to catch some of the red-carpet arrivals and then I was on the road.

I was excited when Ryan Seacrest pointed out Zooey Deschanel’s nails, which looked like adorable tuxedos!

It reminded me that for a while now, I’ve been wanting to do a nail art tutorial for how to do easy Tuxedo Nails.

Here’s a different version than hers, but it’ll still get your fingers on the Best Dressed List. 😉

You’ll notice that I also opted not to use white, which is traditional for this look.

Hope you’ll also play around with all sorts of untraditional colours. (Consider ditching the black bow tie for something bright and whimsical instead!)

In this post, you’ll also notice that I’ve been playing around with image sizes. Please let me know in the comments if you prefer fewer, but much-larger photos or many, but smaller photos. Also, please let me know if these larger photos make the post much slower to load than my usual posts. I appreciate your feedback! Continue reading

Nail Art: Pink & Black Star Konadicure Swatches & Review

Black & Pink Star Nail Stamping Konad Image Plate m84 Pictures & Review smallerTwo weeks ago, I reviewed a mini bottle of Quo by Orly True Love. Although it was nice, I mentioned how I stamped over it to make it more me.

This Pink & Black Star Konadicure was the result!

I stamped the full-nail star pattern from Konad Image Plate m84 over my manicure using the black Konad Special Nail Polish.

Since it was my first time using the m84 Konad plate, I’ve included a photo of it as well as a brief review of this pattern near the end of this post in case you’re interested.

Also, my cuticles are really messy because I did a quick job at removing the black polish from my skin. My ‘secret’ is just letting the shower remove the rest of the polish – much easier! Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to snap photos of the cleaned-up version. Hope you don’t mind. 🙂 Continue reading

OPI Not Like the Movies Swatches, Review & Konadicure

OPI Not Like the Movies Swatches & ReviewAs I was going through my computer and deleting photos, I came across photos of OPI Not Like the Movies taken with my old camera in the summer.

Since I still strongly remember wearing this manicure, I feel comfortable providing you with an in-depth review of the polish.

This blog post is going to be slightly different than my typical swatch-and-review posts, though.

All the photos I show have the Konadicure I did on top of it because I didn’t wear the colour solo, and I have no photos of it solo. Despite this set-back, I think that you’ll still be able to see the multichrome nature of the polish. Continue reading

The Best of 2011: Nail Polish, Nail Art, Makeup, Skincare & Fragrance

Swatch And Learn The Best of 2011It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it?

I’ve tried all sorts of new beauty products including nail polishes. And I’ve had tons of fun coming up with nail-art designs!

Now that it’s the last day in 2011, it’s time to reflect upon the year.

I’d like to share with you my Best of 2011 list! I still have a ton of favourites from last year, so these picks are strictly new ones that I’ve blogged about in 2011.

You’ll see it broken down into the following categories: nail polish (duh), nail art (double duh), fragrance, makeup, and skincare. All lists are in no particular order. (It was difficult enough to whittle down my picks for the nail polishes!)

Feel free to click on the links – they’ll take you to the blog post with the swatches, reviews, and tutorial (where appropriate).

Now I’m so curious about what you think!

Is there a lacquer that you feel I sorely missed including? Have you found your Holy Grail facial cleanser? What nail-art design have you worn in 2011 that you would consider wearing again in 2012?

Please weigh in with your picks! We’re all different, but our love for beauty products brings us together. 🙂 Continue reading

Nail Art Tutorial: Martini Nails (New Year’s Eve Nails)

Martini Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesIf you’re underage and shouldn’t be drinking alcohol, at least you can give my Martini Nails a try – they’re a fun way to ring in the New Year!

I’ll never forget the first time I had a classic, dry martini – it was at a German restaurant. I was so excited to try it and see what all the fuss was about because you always see classy people in movies elegantly sipping martinis. (Of course, in movies, the glasses are really just filled with water…at least I hope so!)

Not sure why, but I thought it was going to be sweet or delicious like the fruity or dessert martinis and cocktails. Haha, so the second I took my first sip, my whole face crinkled up in disgust! My then-boyfriend burst into hysterical laughter and asked me, “That good, huh?” 😛 He wished that he had brought his camera.

I had no idea if it was a ‘good martini’ or not because I had no reference to compare it to. All I remember was that it tasted like the way nail-polish remover smells. (I finished it, but that was my first and last classic, dry martini.) The best part about it was the olive… Continue reading

Nail Art Tutorial: Snow Bunny Nails

Flash Snow Bunny Rabbit Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesSince I had so much fun wearing my Penguin Nails, I decided to try more animal nail art in the snow – Snow Bunny Nails!

Although this design doesn’t use many colours, it took much longer to complete than the penguins. So if you give this one a go, make sure you have a good chunk of time on your hands.

Like what we learned in Aesop’s Fables, slow and steady wins the race. Looks like in this manicure, the hare taught us that, though, not the tortoise.

This was my Christmas manicure. I wore it on the 23rd straight through to today even though I really wanted to wear China Glaze Party Hearty. (After spending over an hour on these ‘wascally wabbits’, as Elmer Fudd would say, I just couldn’t bring myself to remove them for a long time.)

With some minor tweaking (i.e. making the ears shorter), you can easily convert these rabbit nails into cat nails!

Also, I was extremely busy over the past few days, so I was only able to capture this manicure mainly with my flash. Although, a few are in the sunlight and some are in terrible dim artificial light. But from the mediocre photos I was able to take, you get the basic idea. Continue reading
