Simple Cleansing Micellar Water Review

Simple Cleansing Water ReviewThe popularity of micellar cleansing water continues to gain momentum among beauty enthusiasts.

First developed in France, micellar cleansing water was touted as a multifunctional product to quickly and effectively remove makeup, cleanse skin, and provide skin-loving vitamins.

Unlike your traditional facial cleansers, micellar cleansing waters don’t need to be rinsed off, and they don’t require water to activate the product. For these reasons, it’s no wonder that micellar cleansing waters are what busy people who are on-the-go reach for when traveling or when they want something easy that works.

I was really excited to try the new Simple Cleansing Micellar Water because it’s my first experience with any cleansing micellar water! I was very curious to see how well it would perform, especially because I wear foundation, eye makeup, and long-wearing lipstick on a typical day.

For two weeks, I’ve been testing out the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water, so I’ve had plenty of time to collect my thoughts to share with you.

When it comes to skincare, I’m not thrown off by packaging or bells and whistles. Like with people, it’s what’s inside that counts.

My Exclusive Interview with Bill Baker, the Owner of Consonant Skincare

Consonant-Skincare-Bill-BakerThe skyline in my blog’s header pays homage to Toronto, the city in Canada that I call home.

Although I love to explore products and brands that hail from all over the globe, there’s a special place in my heart for local ones because I have a sense of Toronto pride.

Back in February, I had the incredible opportunity to ask some challenging questions and get great answers!

Here’s my Exclusive Interview with Bill Baker, the Owner of Consonant Skincare.

Consonant Skincare is proudly a Canadian company. All of their high-end 100% natural products are created and produced in Canada.

They have two locations in Toronto:

  • Flagship store is located at 2479 Yonge Street (Store hours: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm & Sunday from noon to 5 pm)
  • PATH location is located at 120 Adelaide Street West, Unit R12 (Store hours: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm) – Opens March 16th

But aside from geography, what stands out is that Consonant Skincare products utilize the highest possible concentration of organic botanical ingredients. Instead of being a “Band-aid solution” for irritating skin symptoms, Consonant Skincare products are formulated to work in harmony with the body’s natural chemistry to improve the healthy appearance of skin with continued use.

Consonant Skincare products make skin appear firmer, healthier, and younger-looking without using synthetic ingredients like parabens, sulphates, petroleum ingredients, phthalates, and silicone.

One of their customer favourites, HydrExtreme, recently won the Grand Prize at the Canadian Beauty Innovation Awards!

See the rest of this post to read my exclusive interview with Bill Baker, the official press release, and information on how you could win their Ultimate Consonant Experience Giveaway ($5,000 CAD value that’s good for one winner and four friends)!

göt2b & Dial Exclusive Preview Event Recap

got2b Dial exclusive preview eventOn Tuesday February 24th after work, I had the pleasure of attending the göt2b & Dial Exclusive Preview Event! (Thanks to Langton Communications for the opportunity.)

You already got a glimpse of it when I posted photos and a video clip live during the event on some of my social media including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

The venue was held on the third floor of the Storys Building, which is 170 years old! It’s located in the heart of downtown Toronto known as the entertainment district, near King Street West and University Avenue.

Although it was a chilly night and there was some snowfall, things were cozy inside because of the social energy and the modern loft decor.

Allow me to tell you about my experience at this event and give you a quick walk-through of the new göt2b haircare and Dial products that launched recently!

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel Review & Pictures

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel ReviewThe Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel is the first shower gel by the brand that I’ve ever tried, so it had a lot to live up to!

Although I have some favourite shower gels, I still like to mix it up and try new ones because variety is the spice of showers…err, I mean life! 😉

I’m already a fan of the benefits of Argan Oil, and the cool thing? The Argan Oil supplier for The Body Shop is Targanine, which is a community fair trade partner.

According to the information that PR was kind enough to send me, Targanine is a “Moroccan Berber women’s cooperative that hand-picks and hand cracks the Argan nuts, which are then pressed into oil. These cooperatives invest in social projects such as school rooms for children and adult learning, creches, doctors’ visit and micro-loan facilities.”

Argan Oil has been used by centuries by the Berber women to protect and nourish their skin and hair from the harsh Saharan winds and smouldering sun. It contains essential fatty acids (including linoleum acid, Omega 6) and natural tocopherols, which is why Argan Oil is sometimes called the “Queen of Oils”.

Organic Surge Super Fresh Awakening Body Wash Review & Pictures

Organic Surge Super Fresh Awakening Body Wash Review & PicturesMy review on the Organic Surge Super Fresh Awakening Body Wash has been a long time coming because I’ve been using it for several weeks.

This is a new-to-me body wash. Not only have I never seen it in stores here in Canada, but I also haven’t read any reviews on it by other bloggers.

So when Organic Surge got in touch with me, I was curious to give it a go. Organic food and products always interest me.

With a sophisticated blend of spicy May Chang and uplifting Bergamot essential oils, this is definitely the most mature body wash I’ve ever used. (Typically, I tend to go for either caramel/vanilla ones that make me smell edible or fruity scents.)

Although it was a far departure than what I’m used to, I’ve learned to appreciate this, and I really like how it’s a 99% natural body wash that is free of harsh chemicals and is animal-friendly.

Simple Eye Make-up Remover Review & Pictures

Simple Eye Make-up Remover Review & PicturesLife is complicated. Your skincare shouldn’t be.

For me, I am the most interested in stripped-down skincare that doesn’t have bells and whistles. Instead, I want it to perform like a winning racehorse.

While for most beauty products, I’m swayed by the packaging and different scents or colours, when it comes to skincare, I’m a strong advocate that simple is best.

Especially when you have sensitive skin like I do, fragrances and harsh ingredients don’t often play well. So when the Simple skincare company’s PR reached out to me and gave me the opportunity to try some of their products for the first time, I was totally on board!

What I like about Simple skincare is that they’re found in the drugstore and at some grocery stores, making them easy to not only find, but also to get on sale at price points that make the products accessible to more people of varying socio-economic statuses.

But, you know me. It’s not all about the dollar! When it comes to skincare, I’m willing to pay top dollar (within reason), if it’s significantly effective that I notice a difference. And if I get the results for a drugstore price, that’s even better!

The Simple skincare brand is new to me, even though when I posted an Instagram photo of some of their products that I was testing out, it was pretty interesting to see that a lot of people really loved the brand and raved about products they enjoyed using. (Clearly, when it comes to drugstore skincare, I’m not in the loop as I am with nail polish and makeup!) 😉

I was very curious to dive into this bottle of Simple Eye Make-up Remover. It was also good timing that PR sent it to me exactly when I finished the very last drop of my other remover!

I’ve been testing out this eye makeup remover daily for about a week now, and I have some strong opinions about it because in addition to having sensitive skin, my eyes are also sensitive. Since Simple skincare claims to be the “Sensitive Skin Experts”, they had a lot to live up to!

Come see how this product fared!

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Sorbet Review & Pictures

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Sorbet ReviewOkay, so I’m in the minority here, but I don’t regularly moisturize my body when I get out of the shower or before I go to sleep.

Sure, I’m willing to put in a lot of effort into my makeup and nails, but slap on a body moisturizer? Oh no! Haha! (Yeah, I never said that I was rational all the time.)

The main reason why is because a lot of lotions feel greasy or heavy. I just really dislike feeling like I have a sticky film on my skin, especially if I’m going to bed or if I just took a shower and want to feel clean.

However, I recently tried The Body Shop Satsuma Body Sorbet, which came out in May, because it claims to hydrate without leaving behind that sticky feeling. In fact, it was specially designed to be used in the summer when it’s hot.

So, what did I do? Yes, I put it to the test! Here are my results!
