Zoya FeiFei Swatches & Review

Zoya-FeiFei-Swatches-ReviewSome nail polishes, like Zoya FeiFei from the NYFW Collection are absolutely stunning in person, but once you hold a camera up and try to snap its glory, something falls flat.

Perhaps this polish needs a ‘smizing’ lesson from Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model.

It’s really too bad. Despite me capturing it in sunlight, natural light, and with my camera’s flash, I still don’t feel like I did this polish any justice. So, you may have to just take my word – this is a spectacular polish that looks better in person.

Allow me to go into further detail…

Essie She’s Picture Perfect Swatches & Review

Essie-She's-Picture-Perfect-Swatches-ReviewYou may remember that I was really excited to find Essie She’s Picture Perfect in my Loose Button April 2012 Luxe Box.

Good grief, Charlie Brown! It only took me until September to get around to wearing it! *Tsk tsk*

No joke – ever since I got it, I placed it carefully beside my computer so that I wouldn’t forget to wear it. And many times when I was composing blog posts, I would randomly pick it up to admire.

After so many months, it finally hit me – why haven’t I worn it even though I love it so much in the bottle?

Lots of activity fired away in the ole synapses, and my brain started working. Note: Started! Hehe, so today, albeit late, is my review of this pretty polish.

Nail Art Tutorial: Heartbeat Nails

Heartbeat-Nails-Nail-Art-Swatches-TutorialI’ve seen lots of Heartbeat Nail Art all over the internet for months and always thought how fun it would be to wear and how wonderfully simple it is.

Finally I took a stab at it. It helped that I had already been wearing Zoya Rekha as a manicure for a few days.

Although it’s a very easy design, I still did a nail-art tutorial with some tips and tricks because the Neon Skulls design was the most recent freehand design, and that was some time ago!

If you try this or any of the other nail designs that I’ve shown on Swatch And Learn, please feel free to post them on my Facebook wall so that everyone can see it and be inspired!

Zoya Rekha Swatches & Review

Zoya-Rekha-Swatches-ReviewZoya Rekha comes from the NYFW 2012 Collection, and it’s a custom runway shade created especially for Bibhu Mohapatra, a fashion designer.

Red isn’t my favourite colour for nail polish, but sometimes I’m in the mood for it. Normally it’s when I’m wearing a lot of black and want my nails to be dramatic or it’s when I want to wear a classic hue.

Zoya Rekha, although not an earth-shattering red, is still really nice. This is what I consider a staple colour – if you’re collecting nail polish, this is a shade that you probably own or eventually will own. (Reds have a way of infiltrating our collections, don’t they?) 😉

Nail Art: Ruffian Nails (Using Zoya Suri & Duri Divas Only)

Ruffian Nails Nail Art PicturesYou’ll remember that just a couple of days ago, I posted what I thought were Ruffian Nails when actually they were Half Moon Nails. (Then I edited the post so that the description was more accurate.)

Well, today I actually have Ruffian nail art to show you. Hehe! It’s my first attempt, and I used Zoya Suri and Duri Divas Only.

If you compare the two, you’ll see that a Ruffian manicure follows the curve of the cuticle, whereas in a Half Moon manicure, you have the curve following the tip of your nails. Subtle, but important difference.

Out of the two, I think that the Ruffian design is growing on me, whereas I’ve always loved Half Moon designs.

P.S. Just realized that I used polishes that rhyme (Suri and Duri)! 😀 It’s like they were meant to be together…like the Alice in Wonderland twins, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

China Glaze Rare & Radiant Swatches & Review

China-Glaze-Rare-Radiant-Swatches-ReviewWith this China Glaze Rare & Radiant post, I’ve now reviewed all 6 shades from the New Bohemian Collection.

Of course, this was one of my favourites because of the strong duochrome and the fact that it’s a luxurious blend of green and gold!

As you may have heard even before its release, China Glaze Rare & Radiant is a pretty good and less expensive dupe for Chanel Peridot and OPI Just Spotted the Lizard.

If you still haven’t picked up this shade in any form, try getting your hands on the China Glaze version. In my opinion, this is a must-have shade…and companies know it, too, since so many are coming out with their own versions!

Some people may be frustrated that there are dupes, but I’m glad. Not everyone can afford to spend a lot of money on a Chanel polish. So, the way I see it is that nearly everyone has access to this colour because it’s available at all price points!

Zoya Evvie Swatches & Review

Zoya-Evvie-Swatches-ReviewBefore Zoya Evvie came out in the NYFW 2012 Collection, I had no idea who Peter Som was. (I follow fashion off and on, and while I know some designers, I didn’t know about him.)

The reason I’m bringing him up is because Zoya originally created this custom-mixed colour especially for Peter’s runway show. What a lucky ducky!

Now, you know that I don’t wear greys all that much, but when there’s a touch of green in it, my ears shoot straight up like a rabbit during an announcement of a carrot sale. 😉 And when I hear about a carrot-cake sale, I wiggle my cotton-ball tail.
