Adorn Landlocked Mermaid Swatches & Review

Adorn Landlocked Mermaid Swatches & ReviewI hope that you’re all having a great Labour Day! This morning, I’ll be working a bit on the blog – (I have a lot of reviews on OPI and China Glaze polishes coming up!)

Later on, I’ll be hanging out with my boyfriend for some much-needed relaxation. What will you be up to?

Today, I have the great pleasure of showcasing another Adorn nail polish, – Adorn Landlocked Mermaid, which is the second lacquer from them that I’ve tried.

There’s something very mesmerizing about this polish. It reflects the light in such a way that the shimmer dances like fairies who’ve had just a tad too much spiked woodland punch.

It looks like a shimmery waterfall from a fairytale!

Nail Polish Canada (Almost) the Best E-tailer in Canada Press Release

NailPolishCanada Consumer ChampionI’ve teamed up with NailPolishCanada many times, so when I received an e-mail yesterday from them asking if I could share a press release with my readers, I was only too happy to help!

Not only have I collaborated with them as a blogger, but I’ve also purchased lots of nail polish from their website. (I totally vouch for their wide selection, great prices, and timely delivery!)

They’re participating in Canada Post’s E-Commerce Awards and are trying to win the coveted title of Consumer Champion, which is the best e-commerce company in Canada.

They were actually selected as a finalist by some prestigious judges high up on the corporate ladder, so even to be in the running is a big honour and achievement in itself!

In order to win, they need our votes. You can vote until September 20 at 12 pm. (I’ve already voted yesterday, but you can keep voting daily to give them even more support! Details are listed later in this post.)

Also, what’s equally cool is that each day you vote, Nail Polish Canada enters you into a giveaway where you can win a daily prize!

Edit (September 6): You can now vote more than once a day to show your support, but you’ll still only be entered once for the daily prize. Get clicking!

And, to put the icing on the decadent cake, if Nail Polish Canada wins and is crowned the Consumer Champion, they’ll have 2 grand prizes for 24 bottles of Enchanted nail polish and a $1000 shopping spree on their website!

Shimmer Jasmine Swatches & Review (Layered Over Adorn Age of Aquarius)

Shimmer Jasmine Swatches & ReviewWhile I was wearing Adorn Age of Aquarius not long ago, I caught sight of my bottle of Shimmer Jasmine on my computer desk.

It only took exactly 2.646785868 seconds after it winked at me to realize the 2 nail polishes were a match made in nail-polish heaven.

Shortly after I sported this look, I swear I saw the two bottles of nail polish canoodling on the sofa. (Yeah, Jasmine is such a flirt, apparently! And just where are those hands going, Age of Aquarius? Put them where I can see ’em!) 😉

I really loved wearing this dynamic duo together – they really complement each other! Continue reading

OPI More than a Glimmer Swatches & Review (Layered Over OPI Pink-ing of You, Also From the OPI Pink of Hearts 2013 Set)

OPI More than a Glimmer Swatches & ReviewYou’ll remember that on Monday, I showed you OPI Pink-ing of You, which is part of the OPI Pink of Hearts 2013 Set that will be available in September and October. (Click here to see the official press release.)

Today, I want to show you the other full-size nail polish you’ll get in the same Breast Cancer Awareness set – OPI More than a Glimmer.

It’s such a girly, fun glitterbomb, and in this post, I’ve shown it layered over OPI Pink-ing of You.

However, since I realize that you may want to wear it solo, I have quick swatches of it with 3 coats as well. They help show off the base colour more.

If you really love this glitter (and want to support a good cause), head to Trade Secrets or wherever else you can find it because OPI More than a Glimmer is a limited-edition matte nail polish. Once it’s gone, it could be gone for good!

Adorn Age of Aquarius Swatches & Review

Adorn Age of Aquarius Swatches & ReviewAdorn is a new nail-polish company based in Orange County, California.

I’ve never tried any lacquers from them, so when they contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing some of their polishes, I was curious like a Cheshire Cat!

Today, I have for you my take on Adorn Age of Aquarius, which is a turquoise. It looks more blue in my photos, but in person, there’s definitely a touch of green in it to make it a true turquoise. (My flash photos are slightly more accurate than those in natural light.)

Would I recommend this nail polish? There’s only one way to find out! 😉

Trade Secrets Announces 7th Annual Give & Take Appliance Trade-in Event Benefitting Local Women’s Shelters Press Release

Trade Secrets Give & Take Event smallerThere’s something new on Swatch And Learn!

Normally, I don’t post press releases about store events, but this one is for such a good cause that I felt compelled to help spread the word.

Until September 27, Trade Secrets is having a Give & Take Appliance Trade-in Event Benefitting Local Women’s Shelters!

If you drop off your gently-used hair appliance to Trade Secrets, you’ll be rewarded with 50% off (up to $150 off) select haircare models.

But the discount isn’t even the best part.

Trade Secrets will donate those gently-used hair appliances to shelters across Canada that support women and their children who are escaping violence! (They’ve been holding this event since 2007, and they’ve donated over 30,000 gently-used hair appliances!)

I am always heartbroken when I hear of domestic violence against women. Their struggles and touching stories inspire me, but they also make me tear up because some of the things we take for granted (like happiness and living a comfortable life) are a dream for some.

Some women literally have to leave everything behind in order to escape abuse, and not all of them have social support or financial stability.

It’s a testament to their inner strength that they’re able to push on and fight to survive on a day-to-day basis.

Please continue reading the rest of this post for the official press release sent to me by Trade Secrets about this noble event they’re running.
