There were lots of products that I fell in love with. But sometimes things just weren’t meant to be. They started seeing other people. And they made up lame excuses for sneaking out in the middle of the night. Needless to say, the relationship was cut short.
Of course I was heartbroken, but new products entered my life. Some took me for dinner and a movie. Others serenaded me with a Spanish guitar. And one special product made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world.
Here are the products that I’ve been faithful to because they’ve never let me down when I needed them. We plan to grow old together and celebrate many happy anniversaries.

Bite-Sized Reviews
- Clarisonic Mia – Removes makeup & leaves my skin looking & feeling clean (My favorite brush is the “Normal” one because it has a more invigorating clean than the “Sensitive” or “Delicate” brush heads.)
- Clean & Clear Soothing Eye Makeup Remover – Takes off even heavy-duty waterproof gel liner
- Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique Vita-Ciment Topseal – Protects hair from heat styling & makes your tresses soft, smooth & shiny
- Britney Spears Fantasy – Smells like yummy vanilla & cotton candy (I’ve went through so many bottles of this & have several back-ups.)
- Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer – Helps my mineral foundation last longer & stay matte longer
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Eden – Makes eye shadow last all day without creasing, has a yellowy-beige color & intensifies eye shadows (I’m on my 2nd tube.)
- NYX HD High Definition Eye Shadow Base – Makes eye shadow last all day without creasing & goes on translucent
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Greed – Makes eye shadow last all day without creasing, adds glamorous gold glitter/sheen & brings out the shimmer in eye shadows
- Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel Shower Gel – Starts my day with a relaxing vanilla & caramel aroma & lathers incredibly well (I’m almost done my 4th bottle.)
- Everyday Minerals Base Fairly Light Neutral (Intensive Formula) – Feels lightweight, provides buildable coverage, doesn’t break me out & is very affordable (I’m almost done my 5th or 6th container.)
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat – Dries nail polish rock hard in about 15 minutes (I have the huge professional kit & just fill up this little bottle when it’s running low.)
- Marcelle Wet or Dry Eye Shadow Cabaret – Go-to medium gray that’s perfect for smokey eyes or pairing with almost any color (I’ve burned through 3 of these & the picture shows that I hit pan on this 4th one.)
- Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner Blackest Black – A smooth, intense, smudge-proof & waterproof jet-black liner that’s easy to work with (This is my 2nd pot & I have several back-ups.)
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil Zero – Black waterproof eyeliner in pencil form that doesn’t budge all day (I’m on my 2nd pencil of this.)
What are your trusty go-to products that you use daily or very often? Have you tried any of the above? If so, do you agree or disagree with me?
I’m still developing a “go-to” set as I am fairly new to makeup and all the girly stuff so I will definitely have to keep some of your recommendations in mind. I totally have to agree on the Seche Vite though- I am brutal on my nails at work and Seche has been an amazing mani extender.. I only get minor tipwear now (and I change polish regularly enough for it not to be a major issue )and haven’t had any polish chipping at work since I started using it.
My newest go-to item has to be the Elf eyelid primer, which actually makes my shadow stay strong and pretty throughout my work shifts whereas before it would be very faded by the end of the day. My standard shadow is the Almay Intense I-Color “play up the blue” shadow trio for a quick natural look when dashing out the door to work (also helps that since they are natural colors it is less likely to be noticed if it gets smudged or rained off me =P ).
And I have major love for Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom body splash- I love the scent and it isn’t too overpowering or sickeningly sweet like some sprays tend to be for me.
I am still experimenting with other things but these are the items that stand out to me in my daily routine. Thanks for the great product ideas!
Hey Kelly M!
Welcome to the wonderfully addictive world of makeup! Hehehe, you’ve come to the right place. 😛
I haven’t tried the Elf eyelid primer, but sounds like it’s a winner if it works for you and costs just $1! And I’ve seen that Almay blue eye-shadow palette – very pretty and natural as you said. Good to hear that you’ve found items that you enjoy using! 🙂
Bath & Body Works really puts a dent in my wallet…haha. They are always having those Buy 3, Get 2 Free or even Buy 3, Get 3 Free deals…and it makes me buy more because it feels like a rip-off if you ever pay full price in that store. Very smart marketing! And they have some of the most affordable fragrances and many full body-care lines so you can really layer the scents you love. Bath & Body Works keeps reeling me in.
If you try some of the products I highly recommended, please do come back and share your experience. Thanks for stopping by!
Totally love Clean and Clear Eyemakeup remover! I used to be devoted to Lancome Bi-facil for over 12 years, and made the switch last year. I can’t believe how much money I’d wasted and how much I could’ve really saved had I really taken the time to give drugstore products a chance.
Hey Andrea!
Glad that you also like it and shared your opinion with our other readers. The remover is so inexpensive, and it gets the job done!
