OPI Lights of Emerald City Swatches & Review (Layered Over Zoya Wednesday)

OPI Lights of Emerald City Swatches & ReviewOPI Lights of Emerald City is one of the most highly anticipated glitters from the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection because it contains square glitter, which isn’t commonly seen in mainstream lacquer.

What Wizardry Is This?, the taupe Liquid Sand from this collection, was the first shade I wore. Lights of Emerald City was the second!

Lights of Emerald City is best suited for layering, and I thought long and hard about what to pair it with. I wanted to create a dreamy/sleepy effect, so I ended up reaching for the lovely Zoya Wednesday.

What would you pair with Lights of Emerald City?

** This post is rudely interrupted by a sicko. **

So…I’m sick. 🙁

As I’m typing this on a Friday evening, I’m coughing up a storm, and my throat is extremely sore. If you thought that the Liquid Sands look like sandpaper, maybe you should look at my throat, because it feels like it’s coated with sandpaper.

I was knocked out by this crazy cold, and I had to take a sick day from work! (My immune system is usually a beast, so I was surprised to fall under the weather. Then again, a lot of people I know have been coughing like crazy.) It sucks to have to stay in on a Friday night, but getting better is my top priority.

I’ve been sleeping for most of the day and drinking plenty of water and soup, but I still very much feel ill with that fuzzy-head feeling.

Thankfully, I had all the photos for this post already saved and cropped on my computer, so I didn’t have to spend as much time on this post as usual.

So, please bear with me as I’ll be replying to all your sweet comments and tweets much slower than usual. Also, I do still plan on picking the winner for the OPI Liquid Sands giveaway as promised, so stay tuned. (Hehe, and before I ship the winner’s prize, I promise to sanitize my hands before touching it!)

You should really hear my voice – it sounds insane. I imagine this is what the Grumpy Cat’s voice would sound like – very deep, swerving different octaves randomly, and dying out after a few words. When I called in sick, I’m pretty sure the only way they knew it was me was because of caller ID!

OPI What Wizardry Is This? Swatches & Review

OPI What Wizardry is This Swatches & ReviewYesterday, I painted my nails with OPI What Wizardry Is This?, which is from the OPI Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful Collection due out in March.

If you follow me on Instagram, you got a first peek at some bottle shots from the collection that I took quickly with my iPhone on Tuesday. I was so ecstatic, so I had to share!

Andddd…I am still very excited because this is the latest addition to the Liquid Sands series – it’s the 5th one.

It’s different than the Liquid Sands in the Mariah Carey by OPI Collection. In this post, I’ll explain my experience wearing this as a full manicure.

OPI The Impossible Swatches & Review

OPI The Impossible Swatches & ReviewOPI The Impossible from the Mariah Carey Collection reminds me of cherry Jell-o a bit because it has that jellyish look. However, instead of being shiny like a jelly, it has the awesome Liquid Sand finish, which is a matte texture.

It’s safe to say that I’m completely smitten by the Liquid Sands. Everything from the unique concept to the quick dry time floats my polish boat.

I’ve now worn, enjoyed, and reviewed all 4 of the Liquid Sands from the Mariah Carey Collection. And, shortly, I hope to crack open the new Liquid Sand nail polish from the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection!

(By the way, if you haven’t already seen the quick Oz bottle shots I shared on Instagram yesterday, check them out! I think that even those who weren’t excited about the collection before may be more interested now. The glitters are hot stuff!)

Also, everyone, please keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that OPI will put out an emerald-green Liquid Sand! I might faint! (And you all want me to faint, right? Wait a minute…) 😉

But…without further ado, let’s get on with the review of OPI The Impossible!

OPI Can’t Let Go Swatches & Review

OPI Can't Let Go Swatches & ReviewIf you follow me on Instagram, you already saw a sneak-peek photo of OPI Can’t Let Go well in advance of this blog post!

It took me some time to crop the photos, but it’s finally done and ready to go. 🙂

I have worn all of the OPI Liquid Sands. The review on the last one (the red polish called The Impossible) will be coming soon. Keep your eyes peeled like a banana!

OPI Can’t Let Go is from the Mariah Carey Collection, and it’s the 3rd Liquid Sand polish I wore.

If you’re a purple lover, you’ll probably like this one. I sure did!

OPI Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful Collection Press Release & Promo Pictures Plus New Liquid Sand Shade

OPI Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful Collection Press Release & Promo PicturesThe Wizard of Oz is my favourite movie of all time, so when OPI’s PR sent me a press release about the upcoming limited-edition OPI Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful Collection, my heart was racing!

Sure, I’m excited about the movie, but I’m equally curious about the nail polishes. (Of course. The day when I’m no longer excited about lacquer, please check my wrist for a pulse.) 😉

The collection includes OPI Soft Shades plus a brand new Liquid Sand addition! (You know that I went nuts over the Liquid Sands, so seeing another colour is really cool!)

Edit: I’ve posted some actual bottle shots on Instagram. The glitters are really interesting!

OPI Pink Yet Lavender Swatches & Review (Layered Over Pretty Serious Hot Summer Nights)

OPI Pink Yet Lavender Swatches & ReviewWhile I’m obsessed with the Liquid Sands, that doesn’t mean I neglected the rest of the Mariah Carey by OPI Collection!

Ever since I got OPI Pink Yet Lavender, I’ve been dying to layer it over another colour.

Pretty Serious Hot Summer Nights was The Chosen One.

The two polishes became instant soul mates. I’ve even caught the extroverted glitter sneaking into my Helmer’s blue drawer to find Hot Summer Nights. 😉 (Haha, that could be interpreted in a variety of ways!)

The result was unexpected (I’ll explain later in this post), and I fell in love with it because it almost had a galactic vibe.

I swear this nail-polish combination wanted to live forever on my nails. A cute little shriek could be heard when it saw a cotton ball soaked with acetone getting closer…and closer…and closer! *Psycho knife/shower scene music here*

But it had a good run. And I’m pretty sure that I’ll wear this combination again. It’s one of my favourites!

OPI Stay the Night Swatches & Review

OPI Stay the Night Swatches & ReviewOPI Stay the Night is from the Mariah Carey Collection that features the new Liquid Sand finish.

I wore this to a party in early December, and it received a lot of unsolicited (and very surprising) compliments from people who I thought liked more traditional nail polish! So it’s a winner!

And you’ll remember that I was over the moon about OPI Get Your Number. Well, although Stay the Night is cool and edgy, Get Your Number is still my top pick of the Liquid Sands.

Stay the Night has a gothic feel, and it’s not for someone who wants a typically pretty manicure. It’s for the nailphile who wants something racy and avant-garde.

In this post, you’ll see what it looks like in different lighting conditions and also with a shiny top coat.

But, just like I wrote in my OPI Get Your Number review, I suggest that you wear any Liquid Sand polish without a top coat, at least for a day. You may be pleasantly surprised by how much you like the unique finish!
