MAC Jade Dragon Swatches & Review

MAC Jade Dragon SwatchesWhen it comes to green nail polishes, my willpower goes soft like a jellyfish. (If you have self-restraint, more power to ya!)

Since I had never tried any MAC nail polishes before, I knew that my first had to be a green – MAC Jade Dragon.

But, Bruce Lee, I entered the dragon with great trepidation.

Although I had heard raves about MAC Jade Dragon, I had also heard many people complain about the MAC nail-polish formula’s lackluster performance.

Did the formula leave me breathing fire, or was it as easy to get along with as Falkor? Continue reading

Nail Art: Paisley Konadicure Using Rimmel Hit That & Konad Image Plate m60

Rimmel Flower Konadicure SwatchesI’m not normally a fan of paisley, but when it comes to anything nail-related, I’ll try anything. Sometimes I’m surprised by new things I end up digging .

This time I tried Rimmel Hit That (which I previously swatched and reviewed) and Konad Image Plate m60.

Here’s the result of the Paisley Konadicure – I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. Very ambivalent about it. Maybe in a different color it would be more exciting.

What do you think about the grayish purple-and-white combination? Have you used this image plate with another combination? Please share! Continue reading

e.l.f. Essentials Medium Red Nail Polish Review & Swatches

Every gal and guy should have a little red in her/his life – it’s the color of passion and fun! And that’s just exactly what the color of e.l.f. Essentials Medium Red Nail Polish is. This red can go from girl-who-just-wants-to-have-fun look to a woman-out-to-dominate-the-world shade. It all depends on what you wear it with.

It’s funny how a little color on your nails can pick you up. I’ve been a Debbie Downer, Party Pooper and Moody Molly lately, and as soon as I sweep on a catch-my-eye nail color, it seems to bring a smile to my face. It’s no longer-term therapy, but it’s an instant smile aggregator that lasts a little bit. Continue reading

Rimmel Hit That Swatches & Review

Rimmel Hit That SwatchesConfession time: I like hitting the bottle. Often. When I’m stressed out, nothing else quite relaxes me as quickly.

I’m talking about nail polish, of course!

There are some colors that make my heart race. And then there are others I can’t wait to wear. Rimmel Hit That, however, was a polish worth waiting for.

After buying it several years ago, I finally decided to give it a go recently. It was love. It was lust. And hells yeah, I’d hit that again!

There’s something really special about a grayed-out purple. Even though tons of brands have a color like this, I’m still wowed by it every time. It’s easy-to-wear and very flattering. Plus it’s a nice change of pace from my usual green polishes.

But…there’s one thing that really bothers me about Rimmel Hit That. Want to know what it is? Continue reading

China Glaze Ahoy! Swatches & Review

China Glaze Ahoy SwatchesArr, ye landlubbers! ‘Tis buried treasure yonder where X marks the spot! Put down ye bottle o’ rum, ‘n’ pick up a bottle of China Glaze Ahoy!

(I really wanted to continue with the pirate theme for the rest of this post, but decided against it. Yes, you’re welcome.)

Pink isn’t my first choice for nail polish, so when I love and recommend a pink, you know that it’s something special.

Ahoy! comes from the China Glaze Anchors Away Collection, which has a nautical theme that’s been trendy for a while.

Of course my eyes went straight to the green (as usual), but then I heard so many people raving about the pink that I had to check it out for myself. Glad I did – it’s a beautiful glass-fleck polish. Bet you’ll love it, too! Continue reading

Nail Art: Shooting Star Konadicure Using OPI Last Friday Night & Bundle Monster Image Plate BM21

Bundle Monster BM21 Image PlateBy itself, OPI Last Friday Night is a fun sheer glitter nail polish to wear that looks best when layered. But, you know me, I just had to kick it up a notch with some nail art!

In this Shooting Star Konadicure, I used the Bundle Monster Image Plate BM21, so perhaps I should’ve called this a Fauxnadicure.

Really love how this one turned out – reminds me of festive birthday wrapping paper for a kid’s present. It’s colorful, has a busy pattern, and yeah, it’s loaded with glitter!

For this little experiment, I decided not to use the Konad Special nail polishes and opted to try China Glaze Millennium for the star design. This proved to be a good call – worked just as well as the Konad special polishes because Millennium is a 1-coater.

Does this manicure remind you of your birthday parties when you were a child, too? Think there’s too much going on? Prefer pure minimalism on your nails instead? Let me know!
