Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Caramel Latte Candle Review & Pictures

Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Caramel Latte Candle Review & PicturesDo you like drinking coffee? Or are you like me? I don’t like drinking coffee unless it’s super sweet and has lots of caramel in it. But I love the way it smells! And in the fall when pumpkin flavours come out, all bets are off!

Even though it’s summer (and I love summer), I’m craving the fall. That’s when the best beauty products and fashion make their grand entrance. It’s also when the yummiest pumpkin products hit the supermarket, too. Like that old song by Nu Shooz says, “I can’t wait!”

When I went into the Bath & Body Works store recently, I had to grab the Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Caramel Latte Candle because it sounded (and smelled) divine. It was also nice how there was a 2 for $30 CAD sale going on.

I really like this super-sweet caramel fragrance – makes my sweet tooth go buck wild! Continue reading

Slatkin & Co. Marshmallow Fireside Candle Review & Pictures

Slatkin & Co. Marshmallow Fireside Candle Review & PicturesInitially I went into Bath & Body Works to pick up the large 3-wick S’mores candle since I already tested out the mini version of it and liked it. But then I got sidetracked and forgot about my main purpose. What else is new?

There it was, beckoning to me with a sweetness that I couldn’t resist! Slatkin & Co. Marshmallow Fireside seemed like a scent that was right up my alley.

After I eagerly popped the top off this baby, I took a whiff of this new fall scent. My nose was greeted with a soft marshmallow scent.

Did I want to marry it? Did I use it as a paperweight? There’s only one way to find out! Continue reading

Slatkin & Co. S’mores Candle Review & Pictures

Slatkin & Co. S'mores Candle Review & PicturesOkay, so I was on a nail-art roll for my last few consecutive posts. Thought that I’d change it up just a little, but keep the food theme going. (I really must be hungry! Hehe…)

Anything with the word s’mores in it immediately gets my attention. C’mon…who doesn’t like yummy marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers? It reminds me of all those happy nights by the campfire – great summer memories when I was growing up!

It also reminds me of the time not long ago when I tried to make s’mores using my stove. Let’s just say that it didn’t exactly turn out right. There’s something about holding your marshmallows on a twig over a roaring campside fire that makes it taste delicious.

So when I saw the new Slatkin & Co. S’mores Candle, I was all over it like the hungry beauty wolf that I am. Clearly, gourmand fragrances excite this blogger’s snout.

Since the Bath & Body Works s’mores candle is so new, I could only get my hands on the trial-size, which is a mere 45 g (1.6 oz.)! But that’s okay because unlike the incident I had with the Slatkin & Co. Cotton Candy Candle, at least this time I could test it without having to invest a lot if I didn’t like it.

Did the s’mores scented candle flop, or did it make me flip for joy? There’s only one way to find out! Continue reading

Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Review & Pictures

Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Review & PicturesArgan oil comes from a tree and is rich in Vitamin E, carotenes, essential fatty acids, and other good stuff. It has been touted as being a restorative miracle for hair and skin conditions.

So when I caught wind of the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner, I was pretty psyched to try them out.

I’ve been testing them out for over 2 weeks now, so I feel confident about sharing my experience with you now.

As you may already know, I have tresses that need to be tamed on a daily basis with a flat iron. And if you’ve followed Swatch And Learn on Twitter, you may have seen my tweet about how my hair is the best indicator for humidity, unfortunately because it gets frizzy.

So did these two Organix Argan oil products perform miracles on my hair? Do they live up to the hype? Find out! Continue reading

The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub Review & Pictures

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

The other day, I bumped into a “friend” from the past. Awkward. We exchanged pleasantries, said we’d Facebook keep in touch, and ended it with a hug. The odd thing is that the only thought that ran across my head was, “Boy, I’m glad I don’t stink.” (Not that that’s a usual concern for me…I think).

I didn’t have perfume on that day, but I was wearing The Body Shop Mango Body Butter. I love the fragrance that it gives off – it’s fresh and fruity without being overpowering. I usually don’t like sweet scents, but there’s something so refreshing about this that I absolutely love. So when The Body Shop had a sale, I naturally picked up the matching body scrub.

Overall, I like The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub. It’s especially good for layering underneath the body butter. But I’m not as head over heels as I am with the body butter. Continue reading

Philosophy Purity Cleanser Review & Pictures

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser ReviewI’m like a moth to a flame when it comes to trying out new products. And this is especially the case when it comes to facial cleansers because I seem to always be on the hunt for one that removes all my makeup without leaving my skin as tight as hipster jeans.

Naturally, I tried drugstore brands like Cetaphil, Spectro, Neutrogena, and Clean & Clear because they regularly go on sale and they’re easy to find.

All of these did cleanse my skin, but y’know that dry, tight feeling your face gets when a cleanser strips your skin of its natural oils? That’s what I got, and I don’t even have dry skin to begin with!

When Sephora had their Beauty Insider sale a few weeks ago, I pounced at the chance to try the Purity Made Simple cleanser. It was touted as being gentle yet strong enough to remove even eye makeup, and other people claimed it didn’t leave their skin parched.

So I put it to the test. And I didn’t let my wallet hold me back, either. As much as I crave scoring a real deal, I know that healthy, clean skin is worth the investment. You can skimp on a lot of things, but you shouldn’t skimp on skincare.

Had my skin agreed with a cheaper cleanser, well, I’d be happy! However, turns out my skin favors a little luxury. Continue reading

Bath & Body Works Island Margarita PocketBac Sanitizing Hand Gel Review & Pictures

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

For many, many months, I’d stroll casually into a Bath & Body Works. Just a casual stroll. Never intended to buy anything. (Yeah, right!)

In many locations, I noticed that they had the Bath & Body Works Island Margarita PocketBac Sanitizing Hand Gel as a tester. But I could never find the actual product. I’d rummage through the bins like a mad woman. Like a mad woman, I tell ya! Why would they put it out as a tester if you can’t actually buy it? It’s total temptation.

I think it’s because Island Margarita is a seasonal scent that they stopped putting out at the end of summer last year. But they still had the anti-bacs leftover as testers. This story has a happy ending as I finally got one (OK, five) last month! Do I regret getting so many? Continue reading
