“On Wednesdays, we wear pink!” 😉

Crown your nails princesses with Pretty Serious Ichi Hanami, which is one of the new shades recently added to the Naileontology Collection that I did a Quick Look post about.

Like a time machine, Pretty Serious Ichi Hanami took me back to my childhood because when I was little, I was nuts about pinks, especially My Little Pony types and also bolder ones like this!

As one of those people called grown-ups (YUCK! Hehe!), my tastes have changed a bit, and you know that I now have a penchant for green manicures. That being said, it doesn’t mean that a vibrant pink polish can’t still shimmy by me without me giving it a double-take.

It takes a lot for a pink polish to get my attention, and Pretty Serious Ichi Hanami is the type that I love and would wear again. What’s more is that I believe this shade can flatter a wide variety of skin tones. It’s even better when many of my fellow nailphiles can also enjoy the same colour!

Pretty Serious Ichi Hanami Review

Colour

Ichi Hanami by Pretty Serious is a flamboyant pink that has silver glitter throughout. When you look at the bottle, it seems like the silver is very pronounced, however, when you wear it on your nails, the silver isn’t as strong. The silver gets coated beautifully with the base pink, so the overall look is cohesively pink and not a high-contrast pink and silver.

I love, love, love this nail polish, and it’s one of the few pinks that made me ooh and ahh! So even if you’re not the biggest fan of pinks, give this one a try. It might just pleasantly surprise you.

Finish

There’s so much glittery goodness in this one because it looks like it’s on fire in many different lighting conditions.

It’s densely packed, so it’s almost like bringing a pink flame with you wherever you go!

The finish is smooth and not gritty at all, which I really appreciate.

Application & Formula

Whoa – I think this polish is a one-coater! After applying the initial coat, I couldn’t see my nail underneath, so I’m very impressed with the coverage on this.

Additionally, the formula is a dream to paint with. You can easily control it with the brush, and there’s no cuticle dragging or bald spots at all. It just flows on, so I found that I was able to paint my nails extremely fast with this.

(It’s a great polish especially if you’re a nail newbie because you won’t struggle with the formula, which allows you to further concentrate on your polishing technique. Almost like nail-polish training wheels!)

For all the manicures you see in my photos in this post, I used two coats, however, because even when a polish is a one-coater, out of habit, I must wear at least two coats.

Ingredients

These days, I’m trying to reduce my use of polishes with the Big-3 chemicals aka Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP. I still wear them, but I’m trying to wear more ‘healthier’ options. (You may have noticed that recently, I’ve been trying out some new top coats. However, my base coat is the same since I have a few bottles to finish up before I start buying more.)

If you’re also on a mission to steer clear of the Big-3 chemicals in your nail polish, you’ll be happy to know that all Pretty Serious nail polishes are formulated without those nasty ingredients. In addition, they also don’t contain Formaldehyde Resin.

Animal-Friendly

You’ll also feel better knowing that Pretty Serious nail polishes are cruelty-free and vegan!

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

I rarely give a pink nail polish such a high score because many don’t make my heart race like Usain Bolt. Pretty Serious Ichi Hanami is one of those pinks that I treasure in my collection and will wear again, not just for occasions like Valentine’s Day.

Aside from the colour, the formula is a dream, and the coverage is at the top of its game, so even if you’re not usually into pinks, this one could pull you in closer and kiss you on the cheek! 😉
