The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter Review

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter ReviewOne of my favourite cocktails to sip is the mojito because it has a punch of citrus combined with refreshing, uplifting mint. It’s light and great for patio weather during those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. (Great, now I have the song looping in my head…)

But even if you don’t drink or you haven’t reached the legal drinking age, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the amazing scent of a mojito. No, I’m not saying to order a mojito and just sniff it. 😉

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter smells spot on like a mojito, and unlike the cocktail, you can slather it on your skin without getting weird glances from strangers.

Be on the lookout for The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter – it will hit The Body Shop stores and their website in July, along with other matching mojito-scented skincare.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter Review

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter is a happy burst of summer in a tub! Really, you ought to smell it when it comes out because it’ll probably take you back to that time you spent at the cottage with friends or when you had a backyard barbecue!

It also reminds me of my childhood. No, haha, I didn’t drink mojitos as a kid. (Heaven forbid!) When the body butter sinks into my skin, it becomes more muted and reminds me of lime Sour Patch Kids candy (in a good way)! As a kid, I enjoyed all sorts of sour candies, and those were one of them.

In The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter, the zesty lime comes through, but it’s not overly tart, and it blends seamlessly with the fresh mint. Together, it’s just the right combination that’s not too strong, but not too weak. Yup – it’s Baby Bear from Goldilocks approved. 😉

It’s made with lime and mint extracts from the Caribbean, and it certainly smells good enough to eat. Although it goes without saying that you shouldn’t eat a body butter, I think it’s funny how there’s a sign on the tub that implicitly indicates that you shouldn’t eat it.

Since I wear an eau de parfum on a daily basis, I don’t use this body butter during the day, in case it clashes with the fragrance. Instead, I like to use it at night on my body or just on my hands during the day in between hand washings.

Hydration & Formulation

If you’ve ever tried the Body Butters from The Body Shop, you know that they absorb into your skin and keep it hydrated. With continued use, your skin will soak it up and feel even better.

It’s thick, which is why it’s housed in a tub, but you won’t spend forever rubbing it into your skin to get it to absorb.

I like how it’s not greasy, and once it sinks into your skin, there isn’t a gross residue left behind.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter comes in a short, wide tub with a screw-on lid. The lid is very secure, so you won’t have to worry about it popping off, if you plan to bring it with you while on vacation. However, this size is too big to put in your purse, unless you carry one of those huge duffel bags. (The Body Shop will also offer this in a smaller size in a gift set, and that is more purse-friendly.)

Limited Edition

The entire The Body Shop Virgin Mojito skincare line won’t be around forever, so if you’re interested, you’d better snatch it up once it’s released.

Animal-Friendliness & Beauty With Heart

For those who are trying to making conscious shopping decisions, you’ll be pleased to know that The Body Shop is against animal testing, and they support Community Fair Trade. (They use Shea Butter from Ghana.)

  • Refreshing lime blended with mint
  • Hydrates skin
  • Non-greasy
  • Not sticky (doesn’t leave a residue)
  • Practical packaging
  • Not tested on animals
  • Supports Community Fair Trade (Shea Butter from Ghana)

  • Limited-edition (Once it’s gone, it’s gone!)
  • Pricey (It’s $20 CAD), but since a little goes a long way, it ends up being okay

Final Verdict: 8/10

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter has such a fun scent, and it’ll surely put you in the mood for the summer.

What’s your favourite summer beverage? If you could create your signature body-butter scent, what would it smell like?

I don’t drink (personal choice) but I do love scents like citrus and mint. I think I’ll have to get some of this next time I’m at Ulta. Thanks for sharing it with us!
