Pretty Serious Blood of Knossos Swatches & Review

Pretty Serious Blood of Knossos Swatches & ReviewHold the polish!

Be still my little green heart!

Pretty Serious Blood of Knossos is the kind of olive green that makes my heart race like it wants to place first at the finish line.

If I weren’t a blogger, I’d probably wear Blood of Knossos for several weeks straight.

Plus I get an internal giggle anticipating someone asking me what’s on my nails, just so I can reply in a deadpan manner, “Blood!”

Pretty Serious Blood of Knossos is one of the three new shades that were recently added to the Naileontology Collection. (I did a Quick Look post on those new colours not long ago.)

A lot of green nail polish has landed at Swatch And Learn Headquarters, so it takes a special one to make this nailphile turn her head.

If you like martian manicures (maybe that’s what I’ll call green nails from now on) like I do, this is a serious must-have in your collection!

P.S. There’s still time to enter my 5th blogiversary giveaway for your chance to win 12 nail polishes! 🙂 Remember to get your entry in by August 7 for it to count.

Pretty Serious Naileontology Collection (Quick Look at the 3 New Shades)

Pretty Serious Naileontology Collection 2At the end of June, you may remember that I shared a press release introducing three new Pretty Serious shades.

In today’s Quick Look post, I’m going to share a closer look at the new Pretty Serious Naileontology shades.

Included are bottle shots, but also some quick swatches to give you an idea of each one.

Later when I wear them as individual manicures, then I’ll do individual in-depth posts.

It should be obvious that my favourite from the trio is Blood of Knossos (the green). It’s exactly my kind of Comfort Colour, even though all three colours are very beautiful!

New Pretty Serious Daphne’s Party Polishes

Pretty Serious Daphne's Party PolishesThe Pretty Serious Daphne’s Party Collection launched today, and it includes three nail polishes: Daphne’s Birthday Party, Daphne’s Disco Party, and Daphne’s Garden Party.

Pretty Serious is an Australian indie nail-polish brand that never puts out predictable shades. (Yes, I have a soft spot for the company because they manufactured the nail polish I designed, Pretty Serious Swatch And Learn, which I still am very much in love with!)

The Pretty Serious Daphne’s Party Collection nail polishes are all chock full of glitter, but each has a different feel.

Daphne’s Birthday Party is a mix of metallic glitter in a rainbow of colours, and this is a polish that has been brought back for a limited time. Then, you have Daphne’s Disco Party, which is a fun iridescent neon glitter topper. Finally, there’s Daphne’s Garden Party, which is a combination of metallic pastel glitter.

P.S. I must say that Daphne’s Disco Party is “truly outrageous!” 😉 Hehe, I’m a child of the 80s, and the promo picture you’ll see later on in this post for the shade reminds me of Jem and the Holograms! Sweet nostalgia!

3 New Shades in the Pretty Serious Naileontology Collection

Pretty Serious Naileontology 2 Collection 2015Three new shades join the Pretty Serious Naileontology Collection, which I blogged about before.

Especially since Pretty Serious is an Australian indie nail-polish company that doesn’t follow trends and paves their own path, I’m always excited to hear what they’re going to come out with.

Part two of the Pretty Serious Naileontology Collection includes the following colours: Ichi Hanami, Blood of Knossos, and The Crimson Pearl.

In this post, I share with you more photos and the inspiration behind each polish.

It’s absolutely no surprise that the green speaks to my nailphile heart, and it most likely will be the first one I’ll review after I’ve worn it as a full manicure. Keep your eyes peeled like a banana for that on here.

Pretty Serious Iktsuarpok Swatches & Review

Pretty Serious Iktsuarpok Swatches & ReviewDesigned by Hannah of Polly PolishPretty Serious Iktusarpok is the last in the second trio of the Stop! Collaborate, And Listen Collection that I’ve reviewed on here. (But it’s certainly not least!)

It takes a lot for a grey nail polish to stand out to me because I don’t explore that colour territory as much as some others.

You know that my penchant for greens and bold shades tends to take over. However, I’m not afraid of venturing out of my comfort zone. Oftentimes that’s when magic happens.

Pretty Serious Iktsuarpok is definitely out of my comfort zone, but I like it because unlike many greys, this one seems to flatter my skin tone. Also, the glass-fleck flakes add that ‘something extra’ that breathe life into the polish.

Iktsuarpok is a word I just learned because of this nail polish! Iktsuarpok describes that feeling you get when you anticipate to see if someone is coming, and you keep looking outside.

As someone who is passionate about language and the written word, adding to my vocabulary made my day!

Pretty Serious Kashmir Swatches & Review

Pretty Serious Kashmir Swatches & ReviewPretty Serious Kashmir from the second trio of nail-polish blogger collaboration shades in the Stop! Collaborate, And Listen Collection is sexy stuff!

It was designed by Christine of Serenity Nails, and clearly, she has an eye for colour.

Although the warm weather is making me gravitate toward bright polishes and summery shades, I enjoy wearing any colour, no matter what season it is.

Pretty Serious Kashmir is a real looker, and if you’re interested in a vampy shade with that Va-Va-Voom Factor, this baby should visit you.

It’s sultry and dark, yet not so vampy that it looks like a near black.

Pretty Serious Herald of the Skeleton War Swatches & Review

Herald of the Skeleton War by Pretty Serious SwatchesPretty Serious Herald of the Skeleton War is part of the second trio in the Pretty Serious Stop! Collaborate, And Listen Collection.

Described as a blackened green jelly with glitter sprinkled in, it’s certainly a unique shade in my stash. But I wouldn’t expect anything less because it was designed by Scrangie.

Ever since I got more seriously into nail polish back in 2008, I was a daily visitor to her blog. For years, I admired her incredible swatches, and her solid descriptions kept me coming back for more. Scrangie was the first nail blogger I stumbled upon and quickly became a favourite. She was also the first person I ever encountered who shared the same passion for nail polish as I did (and do)!

Although she hasn’t blogged since 2014, I still find myself going back to older posts and enjoying them. They bring back a lot of fond memories for me, especially reminding me of the days before I became a blogger and was solely a reader.

Without a doubt, Scrangie provided so much inspiration for me, and I respect her on so many levels because her passion for colour, creativity, and self-expression always shines.
