There’s a place in my heart for metallic silvers. The bright reflection has a cool, sexy vibe, while the steel color represents strength. Cool, sexy, and strong – I love it. So naturally, like a magnet, I was drawn to OPI Swiss Collection Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous.

Like this color, I do. Love it, I don’t. It’s slightly more interesting than the run-of-the-mill silvers/glossy grays/gunmetal shades. It’s a good staple color to have in the collection, but it doesn’t wow me as much as I thought it would. I was a bit disappointed. Continue reading →

There were rumors that OPI The Show Must Go On was a dupe of MAC Bad Fairy. Within minutes of reading that, I rushed to place my order sight unseen. That’s very uncharacteristic of me – normally I like to see swatches before I buy polish so I know exactly what I’m getting. And how foolish – it’s nowhere near a dupe. Darn! Being overanxious bit me in the butt.

While there’s nothing inherently wrong with this color, it just doesn’t do a thing for me. I look at it and shrug my shoulders. I feel like I’ve seen it loads of times before. My heart races when I wear shades that reinvent the color wheel.

Goodness knows that I love me some gloss. But OPI Russian Navy Suede has won my heart! It is a beautiful, deep-sea blue that’s matte. Unlike a shiny finish that catches lights and eyes at every turn, the suede finish is laidback while still demanding attention. It’s crazy, sexy, cool.

I feel like OPI Russian Navy Suede is kind of made for me. I’ve always been attracted to matte shades, and blue’s one of my favorite colors. So how can I resist this beautiful color? I can’t! My expectations were high, and it certainly lived up to them. Continue reading →
