OPI Infinite Shine Eternally Turquoise Swatches & Review

OPI Infinite Shine Eternally Turquoise Swatches & ReviewWhen I got my polish paws on a mind-blowing number of OPI Infinite Shine nail polishes, one of the first colours I tried was OPI Infinite Shine Eternally Turquoise.

I actually forgot about this. I thought that OPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever was first.

I think I ended up painting my nails with this and then decided to go with the yellow because I was in the mood for my nails to experience the Easter parade. 😉

(Since I managed to take these photos, I may as well share them with you and my thoughts on the colour and formula, in case you were interested.)

Initially, it reminded me a little of OPI What’s with the Cattitude, which is why I was really eager to see how it swatched. (I wore that shade in 2011. I should dig it up again one of these days.) That one’s more saturated than this. Not sure why I thought of it when wearing Eternally Turquoise. They’re pretty different!

Artificial light washes it out, and photos I took in natural light deepened it. It’s somewhere in between – beautiful blue with maybe a drop of green. The Snow Queen would approve, but thankfully she’s off-duty in the summer. Apparently, she can’t take the heat, so she not only got out of the kitchen, but also out of the season. (Between you and me, I don’t miss her. Shh!) 😉

P.S. Tomorrow is the last day to enter my 5th blogiversary worldwide giveaway for your chance to win 12 nail polishes! Don’t miss out!

OPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever Swatches & Review

OPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever Swatches & ReviewOPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever is the very first OPI Infinite Shine nail polish that I’ve ever tried, and it’s one of the twelve new colours in the OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2015 Collection!

This sunny yellow reminds me of Easter chicks and buttercups, so it’s definitely a happy-go-lucky shade.

Plus the name itself makes me smile because I can totally see someone doing honeybee nail art on top. (You may remember that years ago, back in 2011, I did Bee Nail Art (with a tutorial), but I used a vibrant yellow. It would be really cute to paint some bees on a softer yellow.)

If you’ve tried any yellow nail polishes, you know that many of them tend to be fussy, streaky, and quite the diva.

How did OPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever stack up? Is the higher price tag of the Infinite Shine polishes worth it? See the rest of my review, as I weigh in.

OPI DS Extravagance Swatches & Review (Revisited)

OPI DS Extravagance Swatches & ReviewIn May, I wore a polish that I’ve loved for a long time: OPI DS Extravagance!

It’s one of those shades that, each time I wear it, I’m always in awe of its beauty and exceptionally smooth formula.

I have a lot of OPI DS (Designer Series) nail polishes in my collection from the original line when OPI first came out with it and they claimed to have ‘diamond dust’.

Just the other month, I was thinking about how much I love a bunch of them. I’ll need to share them on here sometime because I feel like they’re a part of nail history, and, in particular, my nail history. The OPI Designer Series nail polishes were the first pricer lacquers I ever splurged on.

I have many rare and discontinued OP DS Series nail polishes that I want to share with you.

(Sometimes bloggers feel uncomfortable showing old and hard-to-find lacquers because readers may be disappointed when they can’t track down the same colour to enjoy. However, my mindset is different. I’m not focused on showing you only things that you can buy. That’s not why I started blogging. I blog because I love to participate in the beauty community and to share opinions. Plus I enjoy seeing other bloggers share their rare polishes because it gives me a glimpse at something special and different than the current new collection that’s available. I enjoy seeing how polishes have evolved, and that involves going back to their roots. Keep your eyes peeled like a banana for upcoming posts on rare polishes!)

While many of the OPI DS polishes have been discontinued, OPI DS Extravagance is one that has stuck around over the years and is still readily available.

Since the first time I wore OPI DS Extravagance, I fell in love, and I reviewed it in 2010 when I first started blogging. (Speaking about evolution, check out that old post and compare it to today’s. You can see my roots, and I’m not embarrassed to expose my journey with you.)

However, I felt that it was time to revisit the nail polish, rekindle my flame for it, and to see how the formula has held up after all these years.

I’ve worn this polish several times since purchasing it back in the day, and I’ve even bought a new back-up of it. But instead of cracking open the new bottle, I decided to dip into my old, original bottle because that’s the ultimate test. (A brand new bottle should, technically, perform well, but sometimes an older bottle that’s been opened and used many times can dry out.)

How did it fare? There’s only one way to find out!

OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades

OPI Infinite Shine Soft ShadesThe OPI Infinite Shine series has expanded to include six more colours, according to the official press release that I received from PR yesterday.

These are the OPI Infinite Shine Soft Shades that are available now: The Beige of ReasonNon-Stop WhiteEternally TurquoisePearl of WisdomBeyond the Pale Pink, and Go to Grayt Lengths.

I’m particularly excited to try OPI Infinite Shine Non-Stop White because it’s advertised as a solid, opaque white.

Lots of white nail polishes are streaky or take three or more coats to get fully opaque. I wonder if this one will be the one-coater that I’m looking for. (Even if it isn’t, I will get a lot of use out of it because it’s a staple colour for nail art.)

P.S. On Tuesday evening, I attended the Elizabeth Arden Fall Preview event held at the America restaurant on the 31st floor of the luxurious Trump Hotel in Toronto’s financial district! I had such a fun time and got to see the lineup of new makeup, skincare, and fragrances! (I posted a couple of photos on my social media including Instagram, if you’re interested.)

OPI Can’t Hear Myself Pink! Swatches & Review

OPI Can't Hear Myself Pink Swatches & ReviewOPI Can’t Hear Myself Pink! is from the Brights 2015 Collection, and it’s shimmery with a metallic quality.

This is exactly the type of ‘princess shade’ that would make my eyes light up when I was a little girl.

Pfft – forget “On Wednesdays, we wear pink!” 😉 In grade school, I wore pink on a daily basis!

Then, as a teenager, I grew to love purple.

Hehe, now that I’m a sweet raisin, you know that green is what puts hearts in my pupils.

Nail Art Tutorial: Shark Nails

Shark NailsToday is officially the start of Shark Week!

Do you usually catch the series on the Discovery Channel? Will you be sporting shark nails?

Since I had wanted to do some nail art, Shark Nail Art seemed appropriate now.

It’s a super easy design that doesn’t require a lot of tools or colours. (You probably already have all the colours to create these shark nails because they’re staples.)

You can just do one shark on an accent nail, however, whenever I do freehand nail art, I enjoy painting all my nails because it gives me more practice, and I love seeing the variations from nail to nail – the human touch.

I was inspired by the shark nails by Bethany from Beauty Junkie. (Go check out her cute shark nails!)

In this post, I share with you swatches of this look, and then further down, I show you step-by-step with photos and written instructions how you can easily recreate it with my Shark Nail Art Tutorial.

Hope you enjoy this freehand nail tutorial!

Hehe, look at the baby shark on my pinkie finger. He’s a bit of a messy eater! 😉 Makes me laugh!
