Nail Art: Alien Cow Nails

Cow Nails Nail Art SwatchesHello! I’d like to introduce you to Mr. Moo!

Let’s all say, “How are you, Mr. Moo?” 😛

I don’t really drink milk except with my cereal, but I love eating cheese and ice cream…just not together.

So, my way of saying thank you to all the cows out there for producing milk was through Alien Cow Nail Art!

In university, one of my classmates was obsessed with cows to the point where she always had to buy any clothing that had cartoon cows on them! And she was so proud that every single pair of socks she owned featured cow prints!

I like cows, but apparently not nearly as much as she did!

Do you like cows? Are you lactose-intolerant? Do you sometimes feel the urge to say “Moo!” to strangers?

Edit: Apparently they’re supposed to be giraffe heads, but they totally remind me more of cow heads because of the shape.

Hehe, so I changed this to “Alien Cow Nails” since they look like cows with antennae! :p

If you decide to replicate this, you may want to remove the horns to be more accurate! Or…you can just have fun like I did! 😀

Nail Art Tutorial: Strawberry Nails

Easy Strawberry Nail TutorialFor a long time, I’ve been wanting to create Strawberry Nails. Not only am I a huge fan of the fruit, but I am a child of the 80s and was in love with Strawberry Shortcake!

Then on Tuesday, I came across an absolutely adorable strawberry manicure on one of my favorite nail blogs ever – Steph’s Closet! (Steph is a real sweetheart & I’ve followed her blog for years.)

She makes everything look easy, and she is the Queen of Polka Dots…hehe! (Check out the link to her strawberry nail post at the bottom of mine. If you stop by, tell her that Mary sent ya!)

For these strawberry nails, I wasn’t sure which pink polish to use. But then the Nail Polish God spoke: China Glaze Strawberry Fields! (I love it when lacquer makes the choice obvious for me…hehe!)

Then, for the dots and leaves, I used a mixture of OPI, Zoya, and Konad polishes.

Further along in this post, I’ve included a tutorial with step-by-step instructions and photos in case you want to put your own spin on this.

I’m having a lot of fun doing fruit nail art. What do you think of my strawberry nails? Would you like to see me attempt other fruit-inspired manicures? I’d love to try more! Continue reading

Nail Art Tutorial: Neon Rainbow Argyle Konadicure Using Konad Image Plate m60

Rainbow Neon Argyle Nail Tutorial Konadicure SwatchesEspecially in the summer, I love to crack out my neon nail polish. It’s so bright that even in the shade, it looks like it’s glowing! And that makes me really happy.

But this time, I couldn’t decide which neon polish to paint my nails with, so I decided to use four…plus Konad Image Plate m60 to give it a different flavor.

For this Neon Rainbow Argyle Konadicure, I used Essie Funky Limelight, China Glaze Sun Worshiper, China Glaze Pool Party, and China Glaze Kiwi Cool-Ada! Put those together and you’re ready for a manicure mambo!

It was much brighter in real life than in my photos. I think it was a fun look that I may try again with different colors.

What do you think? Will you be sporting any neons this summer? Continue reading

Nail Art: Hello Kitty Nails

Hello Kitty Image Plate Nail Art SwatchesI’m not obsessed with Hello Kitty merchandise, but I do think she’s cute. So when the Born Pretty Store was giving away 1000 or so image plates featuring the adorable feline, how could I resist?

I’ve had the plate for a while, so it’s about time that I used it, right? Did you join in this promotion and get yours free, too? Share your Hello Kitty manicure with me – I’d love to see!

After playing around with it for a bit, these are my Hello Kitty Nails using the Born Pretty Store Image Plate M71!

It’s nothing fancy, but it did make me smile every time I looked at them.

Nail Art Tutorial: Rainbow Crackle Konadicure (Using Bundle Monster Image Plate BM-208, Konad Special Nail Polishes & OPI Alpine Snow)

Rainbow Crackle Nail Art TutorialA lot of people are over crackle polishes because every company is putting out the same colors. It’s becoming a game of copycat.

But I’m still on the Crackle Caboose! Although, I did feel the need to do something different by creating this Rainbow Crackle Konadicure.

I made use of Konad Special Nail Polishes, Bundle Monster Image Plate BM-208, and OPI Alpine Snow.

This is the first time that I’ve used more than one stamping color on the same image. And I’m pleased with how it turned out, even though it’s not perfect. Reminds me a bit of a painting because of the way some of the colors bled.

What do you think of this rainbow crackle manicure? Still sick of the crackle trend? Continue reading

Nail Art: Argyle Konadicure Using Nubar Indigo Illusion & Konad Image Plate m60

Nubar Indigo Illusion Swatches Argyle Konadicure SwatchesI’m a big fan of argyle, so even though it’s typically associated more with fall, I have no qualms about sporting it into the summer. Wear what you want whenever you want. That’s my nail-polish philosophy.

Surprisingly, I hadn’t tried the argyle pattern from the Konad m60 Image Plate. With all the plates I have, I probably overlooked it, but it’s no longer neglected!

Here, I’ve done an Argyle Konadicure with the incredible Nubar Indigo Illusion, which is a multichrome that I wore for the first time!

Really love this combination, and I thought up another neat idea that I may try to execute soon. Keep your eyes peeled on Swatch And Learn for it! Continue reading

Nail Art: Crackle Manicure Using Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down & Bundle Monster Image Plate BM 208

New Bundle Monster Image Plates BM 208 Crackle ManicureIf you’ve seen my previous blog post, you’ll know that I fell in lust with Caught With My Khakis Down, a jaw-dropping fatigue green, from the Sephora by OPI Safari Luxe Collection.

After wearing it for a little while, I wanted to turn it into a Crackle Manicure. But all the colorful crackle polishes I had didn’t seem to go with it, and I didn’t feel like using OPI Black Shatter or China Glaze Black Mesh.

Then I remembered a new Bundle Monster Image Plate I have (BM 208), which had just the effect I wanted.

As you can see, this design has thin lines that allow the base color to shine through. I really like how the lines form many quadrilaterals.

It reminds me of a spider web…if the spider was spinning its web while drinking Red Bull and listening to the song Seven by Army of the Pharaohs. (Yes, Wilbur, Charlotte’s kids are all grown up now.)
