OPI Black Shatter Review & Swatches

OPI Black Shatter SwatchesI listen to a wide variety of music. Scroll through the songs of my iPod and you’ll find everything from T.I. to Emm Gryner and The Raveonettes to The Kills. And, yes, Katy Perry’s also in the mix.

When I first heard about the OPI Katy Perry Collection, I had an internal freak out. I neeeeeeded it, but especially OPI Black Shatter, because I missed out years ago on CoverGirl’s crackle polish.

Redemption was at hand. Or so I thought. On the day of its release, it sold out everywhere. And fast!

Had it not been for my co-worker, Karen, this review wouldn’t have been possible. She performed the miracle of miracles and located a store that still carried all the colors in the Katy Perry OPI collection! (Many thanks to her for feeding my addiction!)

Is OPI Black Shatter polish worth all the hype? How easy is it to apply? There’s only one way to find out! Continue reading

Nail Art: Sexy Spider-Woman Konadicure Using Konad Image Plate m57

Konad Nail Art Black & RedMove aside, Spider-Man! There’s a new hero in town. She kicks ass, takes names, and does it all with a fabulous manicure.

Introducing my 3rd Konad stamping nail art ever! Sure, it’s not perfect. And yes, I goofed up on my left hand a little, so I had to take photos of my right hand instead. (It was awkward using the camera with my left since I’m a righty.)

Despite the sloppiness, I really like how this Sexy Spider-Woman Konadicure came out. The base red is pretty bright, but it gets toned down and tip-toes along vampy avenue when it gets stamped with a black fishnet design.

While wearing this, I kept looking at my nails. Still not used to seeing Konad nail art on my nails, but I really love it!

What do you think of it? Have you tried this Konad fishnet nail design with other color combinations? Continue reading

Nail Art: Neon Pink & Black Leopard Manicure Using the Konad m57 Image Plate – Konad Nail Art Swatches

Leopard Konadicure Swatches smallerKonad is a gateway drug.

Seriously! Since I tried it once, it made me want to do nail art all the freakin’ time and with more complicated patterns!

Here’s my 2nd attempt ever – it’s a neon pink and black leopard manicure that looks like Rainbow Brite’s radioactive disease as disgusting as that sounds.

From the Konad m57 Image Plate, I was most excited to try out the leopard pattern, but for some reason, this combination just didn’t do anything for me.

After only a few days, I was too happy to remove it. Maybe with a different base color, I’d like it more. Need to experiment with more colors. (My favorite so far from that disk is definitely the zebra print.) Continue reading

China Glaze Party Hearty Swatches & Review

China Glaze Party Hearty Top Coat SwatchThe second I first laid eyes on China Glaze Party Hearty, I knew it would be my Christmas Day manicure. But little did I know how much I would love it. This top coat puts that festive touch on any base color.

If you’ve done some browsing on the internet, you’ll find lots of Party Hearty swatches over Jolly Holly, a rich evergreen polish from the same China Glaze ‘Tis The Season Collection.

So instead of showing you the same combinations you’ve seen a bazillion times, I decided to show you Party Hearty layered over a different color. Tell me what you think!

Want to know what base color I used? There’s only one way to find out. Continue reading

China Glaze Sexagon Swatches & Review

China Glaze Sexagon SwatchChina Glaze Sexagon is bringin’ sexy back! You know exactly what I mean if you’re lucky to get your hands on this discontinued silver holo from the China Glaze Kaleidoscope Collection.

Because it’s a holo, it looks like a pixel rainbow on your nails! You can see red, blue, green, yellow, orange, silver, purple, and other colors. And when you move your fingers, the colors move on your nails, too!

I took tons of extra nail swatches so you can see it up close and personal. Are you a fan of holo nail polishes? Continue reading

China Glaze Peace On Earth Swatches & Review

China Glaze Peace On Earth SwatchesThere are plenty of forest-green nail polishes out there (and I really love them!), but sometimes you want something a little different. China Glaze Peace On Earth is a good kind of different.

This beautiful shimmery olive green has an antique feel that’s quite decadent. The color is neutral, so even if you’re not ready to rock Kermit-the-Frog green polish, this is a great entry-level green to try.

What I like a lot about China Glaze Peace On Earth is that it catches the light and seems to be lit from within because of its light center and darker edges.

Take a look at my swatches, and you’ll understand why I’m so excited to have this color in my nail-polish collection. Continue reading

China Glaze Ruby Pumps Swatches & Review

China Glaze Ruby Pumps SwatchesThe Wizard of Oz is one of the movies I absolutely love. When I was in kindergarten, I watched it at least once a week.

I had a huge crush on the Scarecrow, always tried to find shoes that resembled Dorothy’s ruby slippers, and wanted Glinda the Good Witch of the North’s dress.

So of course when China Glaze Ruby Pumps came out, I had to have it! And now I enjoy it not just for the name, but for the gorgeous hue, too.

If you’ve never tried it, you’re seriously missing out. This is the quintessential red glitter for any nail-polish collection. It’s sexy, sparkly, and easy to apply.

Even if reds aren’t your favorite, you’ll fall in love with this one. Continue reading
