Slatkin & Co. Leaves Candle Review & Pictures

Slatkin & Co. Leaves Candle Review

Leaves is an unusual name for this Bath & Body Works candle. Leaves makes me think of a wet pile on the lawn…not something I’d ever think would smell good. Boy did this ever surprise me when I took a sniff!

I can definitely smell the apple and spices – it’s what I consider a cozy fall scent that’s strong but not enough to give me a headache. And the first time I lit it, it was exciting to notice that the scent filled the room very quickly.

This is a fragrance that will get people talking. In fact, when I lit the 1-wick version of this Slatkin & Co candle, a co-worker commented on the lovely aroma mere minutes later.

Leaves smells comforting and unisex. It’s not sweet, and it’s not bitter. This is what I think a home during this season should smell like. It’s a scent that makes you both happy and calm.

The 3 wicks are evenly spaced out so the Slatkin & Co Leaves candle burns well. I suggest that you burn it until the wax pool spreads to the edges. This will prevent the dreaded tunneling (or canyoning) effect where only the center part burns all the way down and wax remains on the edges (which is a huge waste).

Also, if you want the Bath and Body Works Leaves candle to retain its great fragrance, it’s crucial to trim your wicks to 1/4 of an inch before each lighting. Over time, round lumps will form on the wicks if you haven’t trimmed them. They could fall into the melted pool of wax and alter the scent. If you trim your wicks and are careful not to let the ashes remain, you’ll enjoy the best fragrance for a longer time.

All this praise is going to its head! I can’t give it a perfect score because the one negative I noticed was that when I got down to about an inch of the candle, the fragrance changed on me. It started to smell sharper as though there was more oil and not enough wax to mix with it. But considering how you have to use 90% of it before it disappoints, I’d say that’s pretty amazing.

Not sure if this is typical of the Bath & Body Works Leaves Scented Candle, but when I was done and let the wax cool, I noticed some white residue on the sides. It didn’t change the smell, but it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing. This might’ve just been that one candle because when I burned another, I didn’t have that problem.

Now it’s time to talk about the packaging. It comes in a classy clear glass container with a metal lid. The inside of the lid has a rubbery lining to seal in the fragrance when the candle’s covered. The candle itself is a caramel brown, and depending on if you get the regular or the decorative version, you’ll get a picture of small or large leaves across the front of the glass respectively.

If my Bath & Body Works Leaves Candle review makes your ears perk up, I suggest snatching this up as soon as possible! It’s a seasonal fragrance that won’t be around permanently, so unless you want to wait another year to get it, you should stock up while you still can.
