Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange Lip Balm SPF 15 Review & Pictures

Kiss My Face Organic Lip Balm SPF 15 Cranberry OrangeNobody likes lizard lips that are more reminiscent of the Sahara Desert than the luscious pouts in beauty magazines. Plus dry puckers are downright uncomfortable.

Don’t know about you, but nothing can ruin my day faster than having chapped lips and being absent-minded enough to forget my moisturizing lip balm at home. An effective chapstick is one of the essential products I can’t live without.

My all-time favorite lip balm is the Shaklee Lip Protection Stick SPF 15, but unfortunately, they discontinued this product! When I found out, it was too late to stock up. Ever since then, I’ve been on a mission to find a good SPF 15 lip balm that’s moisturizing.

My latest rendezvous was with the organic Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange Lip Balm SPF 15. Was it a one-night stand? Time to get lippy!

Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange Lip Balm SPF 15 Review

Right off the bat, let me say that I’m not a fan of cranberry- or orange-scented products. Tart and citrus fragrances usually give me a headache, or I just don’t appreciate them. Yes, I like eating fresh oranges and cranberry sauce (not together, of course!), but I’d prefer if my beauty products didn’t smell like them.

That being said, I was really surprised to find that I actually enjoyed the Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange Lip Balm SPF 15! Can’t really smell any cranberry – this chapstick smells like tangy oranges to me. It’s not overly sharp or loud at all. While I’m not always in the mood for this scent, it’s nice when you want a little energetic burst. I like to use it first thing in the morning.

I noticed the orange aroma when I first applied the lip balm, but soon after, it fades fast. And y’know how sometimes you can kinda ‘taste’ the flavor when you wear it on your lips? With the Kiss My Face organic lip balm, there was a subtle orange-candy flavor even though I didn’t lick my lips while wearing it. If you prefer unscented lip balms, this is definitely not for you. While the scent is mild, you definitely still smell/taste it.

What I liked about the Kiss My Face lip balm is that it contains SPF 15, so it protects my lips from the sun and prevents them from getting chapped or irritated. I also appreciated how 72% of the ingredients are organic. The fewer chemicals I need to come into contact with, the better.

The packaging is appealing. It comes in a spring-green plastic tube, and the dial to bring up more product is located near the top rather than at the end like many other lip balms.

One discrepancy I noticed was that on the official Kiss My Face website, they show the lip balm with a cranberry-colored cap, but the one I have has a green cap. Maybe they tweaked the packaging.

Unlike the Chapstick brand lip balms I loathe (because they feel so waxy and gross to me), the SPF 15 Kiss My Face orange cranberry lip balm glided on smoothly and easily. It felt thin, so you’ll only get light moisturizing with this one. It lasted me about 30 minutes before I felt the need to reapply.

I love having lips that are super-conditioned, so even though the Kiss My Face chapstick is good, I’m still on the lookout for a better product that’s more heavy duty.

    Pros

  • Contains 72% organic ingredients
  • Organic ingredients are certified organic by Quality Assurance International
  • Has SPF 15
  • Pleasant (& light) tangy orange scent
  • Applies thinly & smoothly
  • Provides light moisturizing
  • Attractive packaging
    Cons

  • Doesn’t provide intense moisturizing
  • Not suitable for those who want an unscented lip balm

Final Verdict: 7/10

The Kiss My Face Cranberry Orange SPF 15 Lip Balm smells nice, subtly softens your lips, contains certified organic ingredients, and comes in a pretty green tube. This is ideal for those of you who want only light lip conditioning.

While I’ll continue to use it until it’s done, it definitely doesn’t claim Holy Grail status for me.

What are your favorite lip balms to wear? Do you use a different chapstick during the day than you do at night? Are there any fantastic lip balms with SPF 15 that you’d recommend for me? Do tell!

      Hey DJ!

That’s cool about the dupe! I’ve never ordered any beauty products from etsy yet, just a necklace made from nail polish (which I love).

I’m not sure if I’ll place an order, but I’d love to hear your recommendations anyway in case I do! 🙂 (Thanks!)

Have you tried the lip products by the body shop? They work fine for me. Their cocoa butter lip balm stick is my favorite but you can also try their vitamin e and other pot balms. They work great!!

      Hey Ella!

I’ve only tried a lip balm one time (the kind in a tub), but that was when I was in grade school! I can’t even remember if I liked it or not because it wasn’t mine – a friend let me use some. (I know, I know…you shouldn’t share lip products. It was a rare occasion!)
