In case you don’t know what IMATS is, it’s the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show, which is held all over the world including Toronto, New York, Vancouver, London, Sydney, and Los Angeles.
You don’t have to be a makeup artist to attend. (I’m not a makeup artist.)
See the rest of this post to read the official IMATS Toronto press release, which contains information about the events that will be taking place at the trade show, as well as key speakers and admission prices.

You’ll find amazing creatures, stunning beauty looks, insider tips and the best new cosmetics at the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show Toronto, held Sept. 26-27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Beauty keynote speaker Gregory Arlt, the M.A.C. Pro Director of Makeup Artistry, will lead a step-by-step tutorial on make-up that photographs beautifully and looks flawless in person. Arlt is known for beautifying some of the world’s most famous faces, including Katy Perry, Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani.
Additional beauty educators will include Liberty Republic founder Jordan Liberty, Cozzette founder Roque Cozzette and Eve Pearl Beauty Brands founder Eve Pearl.
Oscar nominee Adrien Morot (whose credits include The Revenant, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Noah and Barney’s Version) will be the character keynote speaker. And onstage discussions will cover some of the best film and TV make-up happening now. Attend a talk with Jordan Samuel, make-up department head of the highly anticipated horror film Crimson Peak, and learn from make-up artists of FX hit The Strain.
If you love make-up shopping, you can’t miss IMATS Toronto! Companies including Inglot, M.A.C. Pro, Nars, Kryolan and Make Up For Ever will show and sell the latest make-up products and tools as well as old favorites and must-haves.
Make-up creations from film and television shows will be displayed in the Make-up Museum at IMATS, and the show will feature a student make-up competition, the Battle of the Brushes. Before there were TV make-up competitions such as Face Off, there was the Battle of the Brushes, a live make-up competition open to make-up students worldwide. The battle takes place over two days and is divided into two categories: beauty/fantasy (with a historical beauty theme) and a character/prosthetic category (themed Age Make-up Challenge). Students will race against the clock to create winning looks and take home trophies, cash and prizes.
In addition to the Toronto show, IMATS is held in Los Angeles; New York; Vancouver, British Columbia; London and Sydney. All events are produced by Make-Up Artist magazine, a division of Key Publishing Group. Read in nearly 70 countries, the magazine was created in 1996 by Emmy Award-winning make-up artist Michael Key.

Will you be attending IMATS Toronto? Have you been to any of the other IMATS? (I would one day love to go to IMATS Los Angeles!)
It sounds like a great opportunity to have some fun and see some new trends! Can’t wait to hear about it!
Hey Melissa!
I had an amazing time and met so many talented people in the makeup industry! A recap post is coming soon. 🙂
I was there too! Since I took my cosmetic program I’ve been going. This would be my 3rd year now. I wish they had kept it in the South building like they normally do because there would have been more space for more vendors. I hope you had as much or even more fun than I did!

Hey Sasha!
I had an amazing time and met so many interesting and talented make-up artists! 🙂
Yeah, the North Building seemed smaller than the North Building that it was usually held in. Still, I had a wonderful time. I’ll blog about it soon.
