In scorching summers, I have worn a jet-black manicure, and in the dead of winter, I busted out my most flamboyant neons without batting an eyelash.
That’s why it was so incredible to see Essie encourage fellow nail junkies to embrace any colour any time! There are no nail rules etched in stone, and I urge you all to create your own ‘rules’ that are guided by your love of colour and passion for experimentation.

Tribal Text-styles by Essie has a heart of darkness that lends a mysterious and striking quality to your manicure.
I love wearing black nail polishes like this because they create an interesting contrast against my skin tone with no shortage of drama!
Finish
Although a solid black manicure can look fierce and gothic, I must say that the sparkly finish of Tribal Text-styles by Essie adds a touch of magic.
Especially in my photos taken in sunlight, you can see how much it twinkles. In person, it’s even more mesmerizing, as the sparkles dance on your nails like its tap shoes are burning a hole in the ground.
Application & Formula
Pigmented and smooth, Essie Tribal Text-styles goes on without a hitch! Even if you’re new to painting your nails, this formula is one of the easier ones to paint with, and I only needed two coats to get fully opaque coverage.

Not only do I love the colour, finish, and ease of application, but I’m a fan of what this polish represents in a summer collection! I’m so happy to see a mainstream brand promoting black lacquer in the summer, and I’m looking forward to seeing what else is up Essie’s sleeve!

Such a pretty color and there’s lots of nail art potential. Just curious, how hard is it to remove? I know sometimes shimmers like this can really stick to the nail or the shimmer gets everywhere as you take the polish off. Looks great on you! Thanks for sharing with us! 🙂

This nail polish came off very easily and quickly. It also didn’t leave a trace of colour behind, and the shimmer didn’t seem to cling to my cuticles like it sometimes does when I try to remove it. (The manicure is like, “Noooo! Don’t remove me yet. I want to stick around!”) 😉

Agreed! That’s what I do too 🙂 and I love this, esp that its a 2 coater, my exp with Essie is usually 3-4 minimum so that’s nice. Going to grab this when I see it for sure.

Yup, Tribal Text-styles has an awesome formula. Highly recommend it! It’s super easy to paint with and incredibly pigmented. Considering that you tend to wear Essies that take 3 or 4 coats, I know you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the formula on this baby! ENJOY!

So glad to hear that you agree! We can set our own ‘rules.’ If that means to throw the traditional rulebook away, then so be it! 😉 Plus I don’t think I could stay away from wearing dark nail polishes in the summer. Too restrictive. I tend to wear my polish based on my mood more than anything else.
