Some nights, you just have zero energy to go through your entire face-washing routine. You literally just want to crawl into bed and drift off into La La Land, but you know that it’s really bad for your skin to sleep without removing your makeup.
That’s where the Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes come in.
I don’t use them all the time – maybe a few times a month.
They’re very handy when you’re in a pinch, but I suggest that you don’t use them regularly because disposable products aren’t great for the environment. I do feel guilty when I use these sometimes because they contribute to the landfills.

Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes Review
Scent is a really important thing to me. If something smells really bad, even if the product works wonders, I will pass on it.
Thankfully, these Clean & Clear makeup wipes don’t smell bad. They smell very clean and soapy. Think bar soap – it’s that kind of fresh scent. While it’s not offensive to my nose, I also can’t say that I love the scent. It’s very generic.
The scent is medium in terms of strength, so you will notice it when you use it, especially when you’re wiping around your nose and cheeks. But, even if you aren’t a fan of the scent, don’t worry, it doesn’t linger. You really only smell it when you’re using the wipes.
The Clean & Clear makeup wipes are supposed to remove even waterproof mascara, but since I don’t wear mascara, I didn’t test out that claim.
However, I do wear waterproof eye liner, and with minimal rubbing, I was able to remove every trace of it. Also, the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation that I’ve been wearing lately comes off easily with these wipes. (I never wear those super long-wearing foundations, so I couldn’t test it with that.)
My skin felt clean and refreshed after using the pre-moistened wipe. Plus I didn’t experience that tight feeling, which makes me think that it doesn’t strip my skin of the natural oils. (By the way, these wipes are oil-free, opthamologist-tested, safe for contact-lens wearers, and allergy-tested.)
I have sensitive skin, and while some makeup wipes irritate my skin, these didn’t. My face felt comfortable and soft.
You don’t need to rinse your face after you use the wipes. These are great when you’re travelling or camping.
The packaging is very minimal. It’s plastic, and on the top, there’s a reusable sticker seal. You lift one side of it to reveal an opening so you can grab a wipe.
Make sure that when you put the seal back, you don’t leave any unsealed parts or your wipes can dry out. Also, I recommend you store the package upside down so the top wipe always is moist and ready to use.
Final Verdict: 9.5/10
I’ve tried a few different makeup wipes, and the Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes are one of my favourites because they clean well and don’t leave my skin feeling tight or gross with an oily film.
I recommend these if you need something in a pinch when you’re really tired or are travelling. But, please don’t use them daily because Mother Nature will put you on her naughty list. And you don’t want to get on her bad side.
Which makeup wipes do you like? How often do you use them? What’s your skincare routine?
Thanks for the review on these – I have looked at them but not picked them up. I have really loved the ones Neutrogena makes (blue pack)…I used Garnier ones too but like the Neu ones better…I did pop a big old $15 for Ole Hendriken’s because they were so top ratted – they were OK but not going to spend $15 on wipes. I about feel off the chair here reading that you did not test these on mascara removal since you don’t wear it! I thought I was the ONLY lady that does not wear mascara!!! I might wear it maybe once every few mos – but I have really big eye problems – and chronically at the eye docs – mascara is a mess when you go to the eye doc and they don’t like to see you in it anyway. I don’t work anymore (into retirement way early due to disabilities)…so my at home life-style and also the area I live in is a way dressed down kind of place that I feel completely comfy going out on errands with only my brows and a little blush, some balm on my lips. You rock kido not wearing mascara!
I tried the Garnier ones before, but my pack was all dried out. Maybe it had been opened in the store or there was a problem during production. And I’ve also tried the Neutrogena ones. I remember them being pretty good. Also Marcelle makes good wipes!
Haha, yeah, it seems like most women wear mascara. You know what? I used to wear it daily for many years, but I never liked the way it made my lashes feel heavy. Plus I wear glasses and have naturally long-ish lashes, so when I put mascara on them, my lashes tend to touch the lens. So then I have to take more time to curl them, and it just seems like extra work. (Even when I don’t wear mascara, I must curl my lashes to prevent them from sweeping the lens! But with mascara, I have to curl before and curl after.)
One day, I just didn’t apply mascara, and I realized how much better I felt without it. 🙂 I’ve tried going back several times, but I’m most comfortable not wearing mascara.
I love makeup wipes for when I don’t get home am exhausted. It’s so much better than not washing your face and I feel a lot better in the morning. The ones I use are cucumber scented, and I got them for a dollar, and I love them. I like your tip about storing it upside down, I never thought of that, and it’s a great idea. The one thing I hate is when you see your foundation, I’m always like why does it look so orangey? I hope my face doesn’t look like this.

Ooohh, I loooove the smell of cucumbers! Something so refreshing about it. But the only cucumber-scented wipes I’ve tried were the Yes to Cucumbers ones. Wow, where did you get yours for a dollar? That’s an amazing deal! Never seen that before!
Hahaha, yes, I have the same reaction when I see my foundation on the wipe, too. It looks very orange on a white wipe. Somehow it doesn’t look like that on my actual face…Thank goodness! 😉
I got them at the Christmas tree shop, I don’t know if they have any of those near you. They’re by epielle, which is a brand i’ve never heard of, but they work really well and smell amazing.

Hmm…don’t think I’ve ever seen that store before. Is it the type of temporary shop that literally only opens around Christmas and then closes? I’ve seen some in the mall, but I can’t remember if one of them was called the Christmas Tree Shop.
I honestly don’t use wipes. I do wear full makeup but I use an baby oil smearing in mainly my eyes. Then I use regular sot paper just wiping away the oil. Afterwards I wash my face with regular soap. My skin seems to like it so I’ll continue. It’s quite cheap as well 🙂

Hey Gelic’ nail art!
Oh, you’re very lucky to be able to do that. My skin’s pretty sensitive, and sometimes even baby oil will bother it because the ones I’ve tried before have fragrance in them.
(And it’s good that you don’t use wipes. Mother Nature is smiling. 😀 I really do feel bad whenever I use wipes because they’re disposable.)
I don’t think I’ve seen these before. Might have to keep my eyes open because I’m super guilty about going to bed with makeup on… *oops*

They usually keep them near where the blotting paper and eye makeup remover is on the shelf in the drugstore. If you try it out, please let me know what you thought. Skincare is a little crazy – what works well for one person is just awful for another. I hope that you like them, though. They’re one of the more affordable wipes on the market, and they don’t leave behind a nasty, uncomfortable film.
It just call my name I have those days when u just need your bed. It would be nice, but I’m afraid the package is not the best one.
The wipes will eventually dry out.
Those baby wipes of huggies have a hard plastic deck /cap that will prevent that the wipes will dry out
I agree – a plastic container would help to keep the wipes moist for longer, but I also think that would call for a price increase, too. This plastic packaging probably makes it possible for Clean & Clear to keep it under $10 CAD.
Some brands have the wipes sold in a plastic, reusable container. Then, you just buy the refill wipes. I like that idea.
actualy is not a plastic reusable container
but only the cap , hard to explain

this what I mean if the make it this way would be amazing.
And then each wipe could be bigger, too.
The Yes to Cucumbers wipes have a plastic flap on top. Have you tried those?
I re-use the wipes for other tasks before I throw them away. I rinse them out after use and then keep them in a basket once dry. I use them to wipe up spilled makeup or remove polish or wipe out the sink. Whatever i can think of to get more use out of them before I throw them away. Makes me feel less guilty. The clothiest kind (i know that isn’t a word, lol) can even be laundered – i put them in a delicates bag – and reuse until they are either too soiled or too flimsy to be used anymore. I even use them for stuffing in knitted/crocheted cat toys & bits. Just wanted to give everyone some ideas to asuage the guilt of using disposable cloths!
Wow, Mother Nature is seriously in love with you! Now that’s what I call reusing. Good for you for doing your part to save the planet! 😀
