China Glaze For Audrey is a refreshing robin-egg blue that sometimes looks more blue in brighter lighting and a touch of teal in dimmer lighting.
If you’re into China Glaze nail polish like I am, chances are that you constantly heard a lot of hype about this color even though it launched back in 2007.
Yes, it’s named after the ever-elegant, Audrey Hepburn for her role in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.
(Who else is a fan? Liked her in My Fair Lady, but loved her uncharacteristic role in Wait Until Dark! Which is your favorite Audrey Hepburn movie?)
Some people say that China Glaze For Audrey is the exact same shade as a Tiffany & Co. box. I don’t own anything from that store, so I can’t confirm, but I’m skeptical because the ‘Tiffany Blue’ is a trademarked color. Maybe China Glaze got permission. Dunno.
Before I got into nail polish, I had no idea that colors themselves could be trademarked. Color names? Sure. But actual colors? Interesting.

Color
This is a Holy Cannoli Color! (Holy Cannoli Color is a term trademarked by me…hehe.)
On a more serious note, For Audrey by China Glaze is a gorgeous robin-egg blue that is bright without being a flashy neon. It’s one of those ‘soft and pretty’ hues that sets itself apart from a lot of other pastel-turquoise creme polishes out there.
Not sure if it’s because I associate this with Audrey Hepburn (probably!), but when I wear this shade, I think my manicure looks classy. Okay, maybe I just really want the poise and sophistication that Hepburn had…
This color would be flattering on a lot of different skin tones, and I think it’s perfect for spring and summer, although you can really wear any color in any season.
What I enjoyed about For Audrey is that it can look greener or bluer depending on the light. And it always looks cheerful and fresh.
Application, Formula & Finish
China Glaze For Audrey is a creme polish that’s easy to work with. It self-leveled pretty well and had a smooth consistency and is very pigmented. In fact, with my first medium-thick coat, it was almost opaque! This shade only needs 2 coats for full opacity, and the result is flawless.
Ingredients
For Audrey doesn’t contain any Formaldehyde, Toluene, or DBP. However, it does contain Formaldehyde resin, which makes it a Big-3-Free nail polish.
Limited Edition
I heard that this color is limited-edition. But even though it came out in 2007, it still seems readily available. Who knows how long it’ll be this easy to get your hands on it? My advice is that if you want this color, you should get it now while you still can instead of kicking yourself later.
(Remember the China Glaze OMG and Kaleidoscope collections? They used to be easy to find and inexpensive, but now you can mainly only buy them on eBay for an astronomical price. I’m glad that I bought a lot of them when they were readily available.)
Is OPI Mermaid’s Tears a Dupe of China Glaze For Audrey?
Some people have said that OPI Mermaid’s Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection is a dupe. I don’t own the latter yet, but just from researching blogs and looking at comparison swatches, it appears that they’re similar, but not dupes.
Edit: I ended up caving and buying OPI Mermaid’s Tears. Hehe, this probably isn’t a surprise to anyone.
Supposedly, OPI Mermaid’s Tears is a dusty sea-foam green and China Glaze For Audrey leans more on the turquoise side. (Check out the bottom of Jenny’s post on Polish And Pearls to see comparison swatches!)

I looooooove this polish. I bought it last year but it remained untried until this past April. I don’t know what took me so long, I guess I was scared that it wouldn’t look good on my skin tone. But I loved it!! =)

Same here – don’t know what I was waiting for with this one. The color seems to be really flattering on many different people and the formula makes it a joy to use.
Did you buy a back-up of it? Are there any other colors that you buy back-ups for? I only have a few colors that I’ll buy an extra bottle of, and this is one of them.

I didn’t buy a back-up of it! The only polish I have back-ups of is the Wet n Wild Black Creme cuz I use it a lot for stamping. Other than that, I’ve got singles of each one!

I’ll have to keep my eye out for that black Wet n Wild polish. It’s definitely a lot more economical than the Konad Special Nail Polish.
Need to save up a lot of money before we go shopping. Have a feeling that I’m gonna be dropping it like it’s hot. Nail polish gets me every time! Yesterday, I created an Excel document to keep track of my lacquer, and it was pretty scary. For a long time, I thought I had around 250 bottles, but turns out I have 370+ bottles! It’s finally time for me to invest in a Helmer so I can conceal my addiction. 😛

OMG that’s insane!!! I have just under 160 bottles and I think that’s crazy! I keep track of mine on a note in my iPad and I cross off the ones that I’ve tried so I can keep track of my untrieds. Oh boy, I guess I have to save up too before you two come here. Hahahahaha!!!

Haha, yeah, it’s pretty ridiculous and took 3 years to get to this point. Sometimes I feel guilty, but then if I look at the collection long enough, I usually get distracted by a pretty color and the guilt melts away and turns into bliss. 😛

Yeah, building your collection that quickly can be scary. When you think about how much money has gone into nail polish, it’s like whoa! But it’s much more economical than, say, collecting designer purses or limited-edition Jordans.
When I first started collecting polish, I was living with my boyfriend. He actually thought it was cute/funny. And my parents didn’t really care as long as I wasn’t spending all my money on polish instead of necessities like food. Never went overboard like that.
Back then, my dad was still alive and when he came over, I showed him my bottles of polishes. He found it interesting and he loved looking at all the colors! I even showed him Scrangie’s blog, and he would visit it sometimes! He never started a collection. He wasn’t interested in it like that. But he could see how I would be interested, and he always encouraged me when I was enthusiastic about something (as long as it wasn’t unhealthy).
My mom, however, has very little interest in polish, which is too bad because I could literally paint her nails any color when I visit her if she wanted me to. I showed her Swatch And Learn, and she fell asleep in 5 minutes. Haha! Oh well…Beauty products aren’t for everyone.
Oh and btw, the Wet n Wild Black Creme is available at Walmart and the Superstore! Probably at other places as well!
