China Glaze Blue Sparrow Swatches & Review (Revisited)

China-Glaze-Blue-Sparrow-Swatches-ReviewChina Glaze Blue Sparrow is my absolute favourite blue nail polish. Ever. In my collection of 600+ bottles of lacquer, that’s saying a lot. And it’s not even hard to find or expensive. Beauty comes at every price point.

So even though I’ve previously reviewed this polish on here back in the day, I decided that it needed to be revisited so that I could show you more photos. My previous post in November 2010 didn’t do it any justice.

This is a polish that is what I like to call the Ugly Duckling. You see, without a top coat, it looks dry like clay or sand, and the texture is lumpy. (All the other nail polishes poked fun at it and called it names.) But then this ‘blue sparrow’ grew up and became a looker. You slick on some top coat, and WOWZA!

I dare you to not to stare at your nails throughout the day! (I couldn’t, so I walked into poles, people, and poodles…Okay, maybe not, but I felt like I should with this on…hehe!)

Nail Art Tutorial: The Bride of Frankenstein’s Monster Nails

The-Bride-of-Frankenstein-Nails-Nail-Art-TutorialEver since I saw this photo on Pinterest, I knew I had to try my hand at The Bride of Frankenstein’s Monster Nails!

Hers turned out better, but I still really enjoyed wearing my version of the Hallowe’en nail-art design because it has an underground comic-book feel.

I don’t think that my version immediately makes you think of the Bride of Frankenstein’s Monster. That’s why yesterday, when I posted a photo of it on Instagram and Twitter, I asked you what you thought they were.

Okay, some people did see the Bride of Frankenstein’s Monster (YAY!), but I also got other guesses: samurai and a rocker dude. Haha! After they mentioned it, I could see both! Oh, the power of suggestion!

And when my co-workers at lunch were looking at my nails, one thought that they were scary masks, and another thought they were a character from a horror film. Both agreed that the design was suitable for Hallowe’en.

Soooo…even if I missed the mark on them being ole Frankie’s better half, at least the seasonal vibe was there. 😉

Nicole by OPI Selena Swatches & Review

Nicole-by-OPI-Selena-Swatches-Review-Selena-Gomez-CollectionNicole by OPI Selena is the second shade that I wore from the Selena Gomez Collection that’ll be in stores January 2013.

Pale pink nail polish usually is difficult for me to sport because a lot of times it makes my fingers look dirty, or there isn’t enough contrast between the colour of my skin and the lacquer.

But Nicole by OPI Selena had a tiny bit of peach in it, so I gave it a shot. 🙂

Edit: I totally forgot that I had photos of my manicure in the sunlight. I’ve updated the post to include those pictures.

Hallowe’en Nail Art Ideas

Halloween Nail Art IdeasCan you believe that Hallowe’en is almost here? Since this year I haven’t had time to do as much Hallowe’en nail art as I would’ve liked, I decided to do a ’round-up’ type of post with Hallowe’en Nail Art Ideas in case you’re looking for some ideas.

You can click on the links or photos for each to be taken to the original blog post with the tutorial where I showed you how to recreate the look with step-by-step written instructions and visual aids.

As usual, if you try out any of the looks, I would love to see how yours turned out (and I’m sure that other readers would enjoy seeing it, too)! Please feel free to share photos of your nail art on my Facebook wall. 🙂

Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights Swatches & Review

Nicole-by-OPI-Hit-the-Lights-Swatches-ReviewNicole by OPI Hit the Lights from the upcoming Selena Gomez Collection due out in January 2013 is the first colour that caught my eye. Naturally, that meant I had to wear it first!

Yellows are notorious for being difficult. They’re usually streaky. So I was curious if this would be a miraculous one-coater or a dream to apply.

Even though green is my ‘comfort-polish’ colour to sport, I really like yellow, even though finding a flattering one can be tricky.

If it’s too pale or too orange, it makes my fingers look sickly or like I have jaundice. The easiest yellows for me to wear are neons, but that’s because neons look good on everyone.

One ‘n Only Argan Oil Oil Treatment Review & Pictures

One-n-Only-Argan-Oil-Oil-Treatment-Review-PicturesEvery time I step into a Sally Beauty Supply store, I’m tempted to pick up a bottle of One ‘n Only Argan Oil Oil Treatment.

A while ago when I was going to get a new bottle of their awesome nail-polish remover, I finally sprung for the argan oil.

It was great timing because they were having a sale on it, so I got it for a great deal.

As you may know, I’m a regular user of the original MoroccanOil Oil treatment. But, it’s more expensive than One ‘n Only’s version.

I was very curious about how they compared because if the inexpensive one worked just as well, I would happily make the switch.

So how did it fare? Let me tell you!

Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Deck the Dolls)

Nicole-by-OPI-Kardashing-through-the-Snow-Swatches-Review Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow is the 2nd of 3 Kardashian Kolor Holiday polishes I have to share with you.

When I first laid eyes on it, I knew that it would be fun to use for layering. (However, in case you actually want to wear it solo, I’ve included some photos of it at 1, 2, and 3 coats to give you a better idea.)

This is a fun glitter polish that puts some pizzazz in any manicure. So it’s perfect if you have an old manicure that you want to refresh after a few days.
