The Body Shop WONDERBLUR Review & Pictures

The Body Shop Wonderblur Review & PicturesDesigned to be applied as the final step in your skincare routine before putting on your makeup, The Body Shop WONDERBLUR is a silicone-based face primer that claims to provide a lightweight blurring effect.

This blurring effect reduces the appearance of fine lines, while it minimizes the look of pores.

It will be available to purchase in March, which is right around the corner. (Time is flying by pretty fast, isn’t it? But I really can’t wait for spring and the warmer weather to arrive. The frigid winter weather has been going on far too long for my liking.)

To see how it performed, I incorporated The Body Shop WONDERBLUR into my everyday morning routine to see how it would fare over the duration of the day and into the night.

P.S. Today is the LAST DAY to enter my worldwide Instagram giveaway for your chance to win some nail-polish goodies!

P.P.S. You still have until February 27 to enter my Canadian giveaway for The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Deluxe Gift Set!

Essie New York Fashion Week Recaps: Days 1, 2 & 3

Essie New York Fashion Week 2015 Rebecca MinkoffNail polish alone is enough to make my pulse race, but what really oils up my engine is when I see it in action on the runway.

Fashion is a creative force that I love to follow. No, I don’t jump on every trend, but I like to know what’s going on in the industry because it sometimes echoes the status quo, while other times, it challenges it defiantly!

Beauty and fashion go hand-in-hand, and I’m inspired by the creativity that goes into each look. Although commercial beauty is pleasing to the eye, it’s the editorial, quirky, and offbeat designs that I find myself drawn to the most. Fashion is art.

So when I checked my e-mail this week and found a bunch of Essie New York Fashion Week Recaps, I had to share them with you, my fellow nailphiles.

You get to see Essie nail polish in action on the runway – it doesn’t get more exciting than that! (Well, the only thing I could see trumping that would be if I ever meet Essie Weingarten!) 😉

In this post, I share with you information and photos from Days 1, 2, and 3 of Essie nail polish at New York Fashion Week 2015!

OPI Do You Take Lei Away? Swatches & Review

OPI Do You Take Lei Away Swatches & Review OPI Do You Take Lei Away? is from the Hawaii Collection that came out earlier this month.

This nail polish took me by surprise. Colours like this are hit or miss for me because I still haven’t figured out how to choose the most flattering ones. (Many times, these kind of shades look like Band-Aids on me.)

OPI Do You Take Lei Away? is very different – I found it complementary on my skin tone! It doesn’t make my fingers look washed out like a corpse bride. And the lovely shine keeps it from looking flat and blah.

If you usually shy away from neutrals like this and your skin tone is around the same as mine, I urge you to give this one a shot. It might just pleasantly surprise you, too!

Quick Look: Zoya Delight Collection Swatches & Bottle Shots

Zoya Delight Collection PIcturesWith temperatures dipping to minus 30 degrees Celcius, anything that reminds me of the spring and warmer weather that doesn’t make me feel like Frosty the Snowman’s relative is a good thing in my book!

The Zoya Delight Collection certainly fits the bill. There are lots of cheerful colours that make me think of Easter.

To refresh your memory of the shades, be sure to check out my post on the Zoya Delight Collection press release that I published back in January.

I wore the pink (Eden) for Valentine’s Day, and it has such a smooth formula! (I’m not even crazy about pinks, but that’s a pretty one.)

Check out the rest of this blog post to see bottles shots and swatches of all the colours in the Zoya Delight Collection, and stay tuned when I bring you in-depth reviews on each.

OPI This Color’s Making Waves Swatches & Review

OPI This Color's Making Waves Swatches & ReviewOPI This Color’s Making Waves hails from the Hawaii Collection.

If there was such a thing as a mermaid robot, I feel like OPI This Color’s Making Waves would be Ariel VT4000!

It has a cool, futuristic feel with the teal that reminds me of a mermaid’s tail.

As if you couldn’t tell, this nail polish has a high shine with tons of shimmer. I feel like it could catch the light, even without a baseball glove and with its eyes blindfolded!

Like an enchanted pool, OPI This Color’s Making Waves beckoned me closer. Somehow, it ended up on my nails and it stayed there for a few days! 😉

OPI Pineapples Have Peelings Too! Swatches & Review

OPI Pineapples Have Peelings Too Swatches & ReviewOPI Pineapples Have Peelings Too! from the Hawaii Collection is the nail polish that I’ve been curious to try because it’s so different from anything I’ve ever seen from OPI.

It’s certainly weird. And okay, maybe pineapples have ‘peelings’ (hehe, feelings), but my reviews are always honest. I won’t spare the poor pineapple’s feelings.

Remember how I said before how I tend to wear nail polish for at least a day? Well this is the very first lacquer that broke my rule!

Sadly, right after I painted my manicure and took photos, I just couldn’t wear this in public. It was so chunky-looking, and I strongly disliked the way it looked.

The combination of the brushstroke-y gold base with the multicoloured glitter missed the mark in a big way, and parts of the polish pooled in weird areas on my nails, which made them look warped.

Read the rest of my detailed review with lots of swatches to see why OPI Pineapples Have Peelings Too! didn’t pull at my heartstrings. It wasn’t love at first sight. It was “hand me the remover – STAT!” at first sight, unfortunately.

I recommend that you save your money for other polishes. Unless you’re a die-hard fan who needs to own the complete OPI Hawaii Collection, you won’t miss not having this one in your stash.

Quick Look: Essie Spring 2015 Collection Swatches, Bottle Shots & Press Release

Essie Spring 2015 CollectionIn January, I had a pleasant surprise waiting for me when I got home from work – the Essie Spring 2015 Collection, which will be available in drugstores, salons, and other beauty locations across Canada in March!

The Essie Spring 2015 Collection was under embargo, which is why I shared a little black-and-white photo as a teaser on Instagram.

Today, I’m finally allowed to share them with you, so here’s my post with Essie Spring 2015 Collection swatches, bottle shots, and the official press release!

I’ve worn all of them already as full manicures, so expect upcoming in-depth reviews with tons of swatches, as usual.

If there are any shades that you’re most interested in seeing, let me know, and maybe I can work on a post for this week.
