Nail Art: Zoya Skittle Manicure Using 4 Colours from the Zoya Beach & Surf Summer 2012 Collection

Zoya Surf & Beach 2012 Collection Skittle Manicure SwatchesFrom the minute I first saw the colours from the Zoya Beach & Surf Summer 2012 Collection all lined up and pretty, an idea for a skittle manicure came to mind. (I used Zoya Reagan, Lara, Shelby, and Arizona!)

You’ll remember that I previously did a neon skittle manicure and loved the way it turned out. So I had to try more skittle nails!

I have a tough time pulling off pinks, but with the gradient effect, it seems to work.

Okay, maybe you’re thinking, “That orange looks out of place.” Instead of accenting my ring finger (aka my candy-corn-shaped nail), the baby finger and my thumb got the royal treatment.

As you know, I don’t usually wear pink nail polish (unless it’s neon, of course), and the orange made it more wearable for me…probably because it’s an unexpected touch. (Plus my pinkie finger is such a rebellious little guy.) 😉

It hit me – if you use just the pink polishes for your skittle manicure, you could totally rock this in October for Breast Cancer Awareness!

OPI Save Me Swatches & Review (Layered Over Illamasqua Kink)

OPI Save Me Swatches & ReviewEver since I caught wind of OPI Save Me from the OPI Nicki Minaj Collection this year, it went straight on my To-Buy List.

Although I have 500+ bottles of nail polish, I don’t have any bar glitters.

(Well, when I was in high school, I had at least one bar-glitter polish, but I misplaced my entire high-school polish collection…so I consider this to be my first now.)

Instead of giving in right away to instant gratification, I decided to stick to my self-imposed strict budget and only purchase this when I achieved my goal.

This month, I reached my goal, so I rushed over to Trade Secrets and bought a bottle.

Okay, maybe I’m crazy (probably), but this polish was a let-down for me. It’s beautiful, of course, but I was expecting more. (I’m so demanding, I know! :P)

Essie Short Shorts Swatches & Review

Essie Short Shorts Swatches & ReviewWho wears short shorts? I do! Err…only in the form of nail polish, as in Essie Short Shorts! 😉

When I was 16, I wore my first (and only) pair of booty shorts. They were black denim, and I thought I was hot stuff.

But then I got a gross and an inappropriate pick-up line from an extremely dirty old man. (I still feel like I need to take a shower when I think about it now.)

Upon returning home, I changed out of my shorts, put them in a drawer, and never wore them again. (Yes, my parents were thrilled!) 😛

Essie Short Shorts from the Summer 2008 Collection is now the only form of booty shorts I’m willing to wear. 😉

Nail Art Tutorial: Easter Egg Nails

Easter Egg Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesWell, lookie here. Mr. Tom Thumb decided to make an appearance. “What better occasion than for the unveiling of Easter Egg Nails?” He told me.

(Don’t tell him, but he’s kind of a hot head, thinking that he’s better than the other fingers just because he’s bigger. And he keeps talking about how without him, humans wouldn’t be able to brag about having opposable thumbs…or play an octave on the piano with one hand. *Pfft*)

Today I’m going to show you how this Easter nail design is very easy to do. I’ll walk you through it step-by-step with written instructions as well as photos so you can see the process and not just the end result.

Nubar Opulent Pearl Swatches & Review (Layered Over Zoya Yasmeen)

Nubar Opulent Pearl Swatches & ReviewWhile it’s not really new, the flakie nail-polish craze is still going on strong.

Although I didn’t pick up any of the popular FingerPaints ones, I did rummage through my nail-polish stash for a pretty flakie.

I found Nubar Opulent Pearl! Oddly, this is the first time that I’ve worn it. It was in a drawer at the back of my Ikea Helmer. (You can run, but you can’t hide!)

At that time, I was still enjoying Zoya Yasmeen as a manicure. After a little while, I decided to slap on 2 coats of Nubar Opulent Pearl to see how it would look.

Here’s the result!

China Glaze Sun Worshiper Swatches & Review

China Glaze Sun Worshiper Swatches & ReviewChina Glaze Sun Worshiper is a flamboyant neon orange that practically assaults your retinas because it’s so bright!

The orange cheese powder in a box of Kraft Dinner comes pretty close to the colour of this nail polish.

Slick it on, and you could stop traffic! It’s more yellow than the traffic cones, but it’s just as arresting!

China Glaze really knew what they were doing because their Poolside Collection was brilliant, in my opinion. I’ve worn 5 of the 6 colours, and fell in love with nearly all of them. (I didn’t care for the yellow because it’s Streak City!)
