Swatch And Learn on Beautylish Nail Art

New Year's Eve Nails beautylish Swatch And Learn

Ever since I first joined beautylish (August 23, 2011), their team has constantly been very supportive of my nail designs, so I’m very thankful! And I love how they’ve built a strong beauty community that fosters a positive environment to share your work with others and also to learn from others.

It’s encouragement that really helps people muster up the courage to try new things. I’m trying to do that on Swatch And Learn, too.

Thank you all for keeping me company through my blogging journey! πŸ™‚

P.S. I did some New Year’s Eve nail art. Look for that on Swatch And Learn really soon. I’ll try to get it up before the 31st.

Blog News: The Nail Polish Tag

The Nail Polish Tag Swatch And LearnI found out yesterday that Marisa (MariJo) from Polish Obsession tagged me in The Nail Polish Tag!

I don’t usually participate in blog tags, but this time, I was really in the mood. πŸ™‚

What is The Nail Polish Tag? It’s a fun little way to get to know each other. There are 10 questions that you answer. Then, you’re supposed to tag 5 other bloggers to do the same and make sure they know about it.

Since I couldn’t whittle down the tag list to just 5 bloggers, I’m tagging all of you who are reading this! πŸ™‚

For bloggers wishing to participate, you’re supposed to save the above image so that you can use it in your blog post.

And if you don’t have a blog, I still encourage you to participate! If you want, you can copy and paste the questions (see below) and then answer them by leaving a comment on this post. πŸ™‚ It’ll be fun to get to know everyone more!

If you don’t have time to answer all of the questions, feel free to just leave a comment answering whichever ones you want.

The tag questions (well, one isn’t a question)

  1. How many polishes do you have?
  2. What is your favorite brand of nail polish?
  3. Do you like crackle nail polish, or do you hate it?
  4. What is your first nail polish brand?
  5. If you’re going to have a nail polish line, what are you gonna name it?
  6. What nail polish color does not compliment you?
  7. What color does compliment you?
  8. Who are two of your best nail art friends?
  9. What was the best nail polish gift you have ever received?
  10. Make a speech about thanking the blogger who tagged you.

If you’d like to read my answers, they’re right after the jump!

Swatch-And-Learn-Christmas-Giveaway-smaller

We are nearing the end of the year, and I want to thank you all for your incredible support and encouragement. ThereΒ have been many days when I didn’t feel so great, but your overwhelming positive attitude really picked my spirits up.

I truly believe that when it comes to blogging, you get even more back than what you put in.

Interacting with all of you has reinforced my belief that there are lots of kind, honest, and generous people in the world. And no amount of Grinches will change my mind. (I’m stubborn like that.)

So, to give back to my loyal readers, I decided to hold aΒ December Giveaway! πŸ™‚ And, although my past 2 giveaways were open to Canadians only, this giveaway is open to everyone! I didn’t want to leave anyone out. (So even if you live in the desert, enter! The cuticle cream could come in handy.)

There were so many products that I wanted to include because I thought you’d enjoy them. I had to whittle it down, or I’d have to send a suitcase…haha!

Further along in this post, I’ll go into exactly what the one lucky Swatch And Learn winner will win, how to enter, and all the important details. Continue reading

November Topbox Review & Pictures (Plus Surprise Giveaway for Canadians! – CLOSED)

November Topbox Review, Pictures & Giveaway for Canadians smallerAs another thank you to my regular Canadian readers, I have a surprise giveaway for you!Β (Edit: The giveaway is now closed. See bottom of post for the winner.)

What can you win? A December Topbox! See details at the bottom of this post.

What you see pictured is from the November Topbox, and that’s what I’ll be reviewing.

I was recently contacted by Topbox and asked if I would like to try out their November box. They also generously offered to provide the prize for this giveaway!

What is Topbox? It’s like the Canadian version of Birchbox (similar to theΒ Loose Button Luxe Box that I previously blogged about).

So what’s the difference? Topbox sets themselves apart in terms of only providing top brands (hence their name) and minimalist packaging, which is environmentally friendly.Β You get 4 deluxe-sized samples each month for just $10 CAD. Shipping is free. (Edit: I just signed up to receive the February 2012 Topbox – found out that there’s tax, so in total, you’ll be paying $11.30 CAD.)

I was really excited to see it in person, and as I was opening the package for the first time, I was taking photos. At one point, I had to put my camera down because I was so ecstatic and couldn’t believe my eyes!

Allow me to go into further details. πŸ™‚ Continue reading

Smorgasbord Sundays: My IMATS 2011 Trip, Haul & Photos

IMATS Toronto 2011Guess who went to IMATS yesterday? Yours truly!

Some of you already knew that I went to the International Make-up Artist Trade Show held at the Toronto Congress Centre. (It’s my second time going to IMATS. Last year was my first time.)

It was a lot of fun, and I was so exhausted when I got home! (My wallet was a little exhausted, too, but I didn’t put a dent in it as badly as last year, so that’s good.) But I had to work on this post for you! πŸ™‚

For those of you who are hearing about IMATS for the first time, let me break it down for you.

Anyone can attend IMATS – you don’t have to be a make-up artist. You just have to pay for your ticket. IMATS is set up like a pavilion with numerous booths (1 brand per booth). If you’re Canadian, think of it like the CNE’s shopping pavilion, except everything you can buy is cosmetics-related.

Not only can you find incredible deals on a lot of brands under a single roof, but they also have seminars scheduled throughout the day to help you hone your skills and student competitions so you can marvel at current talent.

In this post, I’ll give you a brief run-down of what I saw. And, of course, I’ll also show you the small things I bought. I’ll also share some photos I took while I was there. I thought that I’d take more, but I really wanted to experience IMATS, and sometimes being a ‘photographer’ can get in the way of truly relishing the moment.
