Nail Art Tutorial: Shark Nails

Shark NailsToday is officially the start of Shark Week!

Do you usually catch the series on the Discovery Channel? Will you be sporting shark nails?

Since I had wanted to do some nail art, Shark Nail Art seemed appropriate now.

It’s a super easy design that doesn’t require a lot of tools or colours. (You probably already have all the colours to create these shark nails because they’re staples.)

You can just do one shark on an accent nail, however, whenever I do freehand nail art, I enjoy painting all my nails because it gives me more practice, and I love seeing the variations from nail to nail – the human touch.

I was inspired by the shark nails by Bethany from Beauty Junkie. (Go check out her cute shark nails!)

In this post, I share with you swatches of this look, and then further down, I show you step-by-step with photos and written instructions how you can easily recreate it with my Shark Nail Art Tutorial.

Hope you enjoy this freehand nail tutorial!

Hehe, look at the baby shark on my pinkie finger. He’s a bit of a messy eater! 😉 Makes me laugh!

OPI Visions of Georgia Green & OPI Centennial Celebration Swatches & Photos

OPI Visions of Georgia Green Centennial CeremonyLast month, I blogged about how there were two new shades being added to the OPI Coca-Cola Collection for 2015OPI Visions of Georgia Green and OPI Centennial Celebration.

Yesterday, I received a package from PR, and two of the goodies included were these nail polishes!

Normally when I do my Quick Look posts on lacquers, I tend to show swatches on nail wheels.

This time, I was itching to try them right away on my nails, so I included them in this post.

Which one do you prefer? OPI Visions of Georgia Green (left) or OPI Centennial Celebration (right)?

What I Wore on My Nails Yesterday for Canada Day

Yesterday was Canada Day, and I visited my mom, and we spent the entire day walking around the neighbourhood and talking.

Below is what I wore for my Canada Day Nails yesterday. 🙂

The red base is OPI The Color of Minnie, which I previously reviewed in 2012, and the fun glittery top coat is OPI Bearest of Them All. (Both were provided to me by PR in the past.)

Canada Day Nails 2015

My mom and I walked for hours, and when we passed by my old elementary school, I was too curious – had to stop by.

Wow, it had changed completely to the point where the building was reconstructed and looked totally unrecognizable compared to when I used to attend classes there. Plus they got rid of the sandbox and the track.

(I was bummed that the track was gone because back in the day, I was on the track and field team and I also ran for cross country. So sad to see that it was replaced with grass now.)

It was a beautiful, sunny day with a comfortable breeze, and it never felt too hot. The weather was amazing – so much better than what the forecast was calling for days ago! (I remember when I was making plans, the forecast kept saying rain, rain, rain. Thankfully, there wasn’t a drop of rain.)

Then, when I came home, I enjoyed beautiful fireworks in my neighbourhood! (I’ll never get tired of watching them.)

My favourites were the big ones that explode and look like a water fountain. Then, suspended in the air, they twinkle before fading. Some of them changed colour as they twinkled. (Fireworks are like magic to me because I’m still a kid at heart.)

P.S. If you missed my post from yesterday check it out! There’s some exciting news about the collaboration between OPI and Hudson’s Bay that Canadian nailphiles will be interested in!

Happy Canada Day to My Canadian Readers

To my fellow Canadians, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Happy Canada Day!

Also, later in this post, I share with you all the details of the latest nail-polish news. OPI is now sold at the Hudson’s Bay Queen Street Flagship store in Toronto!

In August, OPI nail polishes will be sold online via Hudson’s Bay, and later, the polishes will be rolling out to additional top Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada.

OPI Canada Day 2015

I picked a few red OPI nail polishes from my collection to create the photo above.

(In case you’re curious, I’ve listed the colours shown below along with links to the in-depth reviews I did over the years. By comparing the reviews, you can see how Swatch And Learn has evolved. I purchased Dear Santa. Vodka & Caviar and Pretty & Privileged were gifts from my ex-boyfriend, and the rest were generously provided by PR. The full details can be found in each post linked.)

Starting at the bottom, going clock-wise: Dear Santa, Vodka & Caviar, The Color of Minnie, Pretty & Privileged, Romantically Involved, Red Hot Rio, I STOP for Red & All I Want for Christmas Is OPI

Middle: Bearest of Them All

Zoya Talia Swatches & Review

Zoya Talia Swatches & ReviewZoya Talia from the Island Fun Collection is a gorgeous turquoise-blue creamy dream!

It’s a turquoise with a deeper sky blue mixed in, and I think this shade would be flattering on many different skin tones.

(In real life, this polish has a touch more green in it than my camera could pick up.)

Zoya Talia reminds me of those days when you can’t spot a single cloud in the sky.

I was tempted to paint a little bird flying on each nail, but sometimes a polish is so pretty, you just have to admire it all on its own.

INGLOT O2M Breathable Nail Enamel 618 Swatches & Review

INGLOT O2M Breathable Nail Enamel 618 Swatches & ReviewThere are two times in the year when I feel drawn to orange nail polish more than usual: the summer and in the fall (especially around Hallowe’en, my favourite holiday).

A simple bright orange sometimes is just the pop of colour you need to take a monochromatic outfit to the next level.

I purchased INGLOT O2M Breathable Nail Enamel 618 a while ago and finally got around to wearing it.

So how did INGLOT O2M Breathable nail polish in shade 618 fare in this nailphile’s book? There’s one way to find out!
