OPI & NYFW for Spring 2014 (BCBGMAXAZRIA & Candela) Press Release & Photos

OPI NYFW 2014 BCBGMAXAZRIA & Candela.png smallerAs you may know, New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is alive and kicking!

I’ve received a few press releases with photos regarding OPI during NYFW for Spring 2014, and, although it’s a little different than my reviews on Swatch And Learn, I’m going to show you because I think it’s really neat to see nail polish in action on the runway.

This post features OPI for BCBGMAXAZRIA and Candela!

I’ve scheduled 3 blog posts to go live for today, so check back again later for more exciting snapshots and information about how OPI made their mark on NYFW for Spring 2014!

Note: All photos are courtesy of OPI. The collage photos were put together by me.

Blog News: My Chalkboard Nails (Back to School Nails) Featured on Nail It Magazine’s Website & Bundle Monster’s Facebook Page!

Hope your Monday’s going well! 🙂

I’m slowly, but surely recovering from feeling under the weather. Probably in a couple more days, I’ll be back to my old self. (Hopefully!)

I will have some reviews on China Glaze nail polishes coming up soon, but for today, here’s another quick post.

Edit: It has been brought to my attention by several readers that their comments aren’t going through and that they’re being flagged automatically as “spambots”. Please try to post again. I’ve changed something that will hopefully help. If you still are unable to leave a comment, please e-mail me to let me know: swatchandlearn (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks!

Guess what? Nail It Magazine and Bundle Monster liked my Chalkboard Nails (Back to School Nails) that I did a few days. They featured them on their website and Facebook page (respectively)! What an honour!

Here’s a screenshot of the Nail It Magazine feature. You can click here to see the original article or the below images.

Bundle Monster 2013 Nail Plate Collection Revealed! Press Release

Bundle Monster 2013 Nail Plate Collection Create Your Own Stamping Image ContestI took today off work for an appointment, but as fate would have it, I fell under the weather on Thursday, so now I’m not feeling so great. (At least after my appointment, I’ll have the full day and weekend to recuperate!)

It must have been the extreme temperature fluctuations where the mornings and evenings are cool, but the afternoons are hot that really affected me.

Haha, it also didn’t help that a man behind me on the bus kept sneezing up a storm. (Remember, sneeze into your sleeve. It’s the courteous thing to do!)

In any case, I hope that all of you are feeling well!

So, for today’s post, I wanted to keep it short and sweet while I recover.

Back in February, Bundle Monster had a Create Your Own Stamping Image Contest where fans submitted their ideas!

I think it was a really neat contest because it let nail fans have their voices heard, and since several winners were chosen, it made a lot of dreams come true. I love it when companies reach out to ‘the little guy’ and make them feel important because they are important!

Since September 3rd, Bundle Monster has been gradually revealing a new image plate from their brand new Bundle Monster 2013 Nail Plate Collection on their social media as little fun teasers. (The full set will be released in mid-to-the-end of September.)

Bath & Body Works Watermelon Lemonade Candle Review & Pictures

Bath & Body Works Watermelon Lemonade Candle Review & PicturesSometimes when I burn a scented candle, I feel like a modern-day Pavlov is experimenting on me because instead of salivating to the sound of a bell, I’m drooling over yummy fragrances.

From the first sniff, I fell in love with the Bath & Body Works Watermelon Lemonade Candle

It’s uncharacteristic for me because I usually don’t go crazy for artificial-watermelon scents. But this one hooked me!

OPI DS Pewter Swatches & Review

OPI DS Pewter Swatches & ReviewOPI DS Pewter is one of the two newest colours to be added to the OPI Designer Series line.

You’ll remember seeing it making a brief appearance in the Quick Look post about this and OPI DS Lapis.

OPI DS Pewter is part of OPI DS Raw Granite, which has the trendy texture that I still can’t seem to get enough of.

This dark grey with silver glitter has an industrial, steam-punk-esque feel to it, which I really like!

Nail Art: Chalkboard Nails or Back to School Nails

Chalkboard Nails Nail Art Back to SchoolI always feel the excitement when September rolls around, so this time, I decided to try my hand at my first ever Chalkboard Nails (or Back to School Nails)!

Ever since I first laid eyes on the Bundle Monster Holiday Collection Nail Stamping Image Plates, I knew I had to use BM-H23 for chalkboard nail art.

Although I smudged the design, and not all the white lines are crisp, I still fell in love with this look. To me, it really does look like chalk on a board. (And remember my philosophy? Happiness is more important than perfection!) Plus how can you not smile when you see globes, the Einstein’s Theory of Relativity (E=mc²), a glass beaker, and a mathematical equation on your nails? 😉

(Check out my photos of my thumb. You’ll be able to see more of the design. I have small fingers, so the entire design didn’t show up on the other 4 nails. But, the good news is that you get enough of the pattern showing up well!)

The green base is the lovely Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle, the white polish is Konad Special Nail Polish White, and to give the entire design that authentic chalkboard feel, I finished off the look with the OPI Matte Top Coat.

It’s been several years since I graduated from university with my Psychology Honours B.A., but I still get mistaken for being a student. (It’s always funny when I tell people my age, and I witness the look of surprise creep up on their face.)

For all of you who are going back to school today, I hope that the day goes smoothly and that you have a great time with your friends (and that you meet new kindred spirits)!

Although studying isn’t as fun as nail polish, put in the effort and try your best to do well. Your education is important, and even if it seems very stressful, stick to it. All your hardships and experiences in school really do help to shape you and prepare you for life later on, not just with book smarts.

Enjoy working on your projects, doing presentations for class, checking out the cutie who sits 2 desks in front of you, and getting involved with extracurricular activities to keep you well-rounded.
