Almay intense i-color Powder Shadow Trio for Browns Review & Swatches

I love single shadows that let me mix and match my colors to create a unique look. But sometimes you just need something quick and easy – colors you know go well together. Almay intense i-color Powder Shadow Trio for Brows is one of them. Lucky for me, this is a set of purples, and I love me some purps.

Previously, I tried their liner and absolutely loved the vibrant amethyst purple. In comparison, these purples are not so brilliant, but rather dull. The main reason why I don’t think this is worth the buy at all. Continue reading

Crown Luna BK14 Deluxe Oval Shadow Review & Pictures

Putting on makeup can be like a movie production, even if you’re only applying a few products. We mostly remember the colorful performances of star players and forget about the behind-the-scene hard workers. They’re important! After all, could you imagine if Jack Sparrow’s vest were hot pink (he’d still be drool-worthy)? Or what if The King’s Speech was done at a voice-editing level of an English-dubbed anime?

We give credit where credit is due when it comes to pretty eyeshadows, lip colors and awesome blushes. But what about the brushes? They play such a big part in applying makeup! Have you ever tried Crown brushes? I first experimented with them from IMATS last year and really liked the quality for the price.

Today I’ll be reviewing Crown Luna BK14 Deluxe Oval Shadow. I purchased this during a shopping spree online at Crown. I was actually looking to buy back-ups of this awesome shadow brush I got at IMATS, but I couldn’t find it. Too bad for me. 🙁 Come see why. Continue reading

e.l.f. Glamorous Mineral Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

G. L. A. M. O. R. O. U. S. We flyin’ first class up in the sky. We flyin’ first class, livin’ the life. Sorry for my awful singing, which is worse than Fergie’s, believe it or not! But that’s the first thing to fly (first class) into my head when I saw e.l.f. Glamorous Mineral Eyeshadow.

I don’t really know why I got this shade as reddish eyeshadow is my nemesis color. Normally I don’t like it on me because the hue makes my eyes look puffy and swollen. I’m glad I took a risk though because I kind of like it. I don’t want to marry it or anything, but it could definitely work its way into my makeup rotation. But “glamorous”? Not quite! Everyday Minerals Art Girl Eyeshadow Rollerball Review & Swatches

Dear Blue Eyeshadows, don’t worry – you are still the love of my life. But sometimes I just need variety.

Purple is like my eyeshadow color mistress – I just can’t tear myself away no matter how much I love blue!

Everyday Minerals Art Girl Eyeshadow Rollerball is one of my most-recent purple purchases. Super excited when I pressed the Add to Bag button because the purple on the site looks more grape juice and vibrant. In person, it’s deeper. Still a gorgeous color nonetheless, just doesn’t get my heart pumping and racing as much. Continue reading

Revlon Orange Pop Review & Swatches

I’m not a very bright and sunny person, and the colors I like reflect that. So it’s not really a surprise that Revlon Orange Pop is my first ever orange nail polish. But you know what? I like the happy-go-lucky, look-at-me-I’m-more-vibrant-than-the-sun, and I-demand-all-the-attention-you-can-give-me orange.

Although I probably wouldn’t have picked this up if it weren’t scented. Yes, I was drawn in forcefully by the novelty of a scented nail polish. I’m weak. Sue me. 😛 I call this a novelty because, well, this fad fades fast. The color, however, I think is here to stay. It’s very pretty, and I would wear it even if the polish isn’t fragranced. Roc Enydrial Repairing Lip Care Review & Pictures

An obscure product to be reviewing, right? But I’m on a skincare obsession lately and want to do everything possible to better take care of my skin. So about a month ago, I made a solemn vow to never neglect my lips again. Since that fateful day, I’ve been searching for a lip-care product that softens and moisturizes my lips – without hassle. Chapstick has always been my weapon of choice when it comes to lip protection. It did the job well, but it’s not perfect by any means.

As I was checking out at the drugstore with a Chapstick in hand, the beautician suggested Roc Enydrial Repairing Lip Care instead. She said that it’s a treatment and she recommends it to construction workers who suffer from dry skin from working in the elements for long hours. I’m so flippin’ weak. I was swayed at the snap of a finger and made the purchase.

Good choice or a regretful one? Find out! Continue reading

The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub Review & Pictures

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

The other day, I bumped into a “friend” from the past. Awkward. We exchanged pleasantries, said we’d Facebook keep in touch, and ended it with a hug. The odd thing is that the only thought that ran across my head was, “Boy, I’m glad I don’t stink.” (Not that that’s a usual concern for me…I think).

I didn’t have perfume on that day, but I was wearing The Body Shop Mango Body Butter. I love the fragrance that it gives off – it’s fresh and fruity without being overpowering. I usually don’t like sweet scents, but there’s something so refreshing about this that I absolutely love. So when The Body Shop had a sale, I naturally picked up the matching body scrub.

Overall, I like The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub. It’s especially good for layering underneath the body butter. But I’m not as head over heels as I am with the body butter. Continue reading
