Who doesn’t love houndstooth? With the right color combination, it can look as classy as Audrey Hepburn in a sheath dress. But mix up the hues in favor of hyperactive neons or sassy shimmers and you’ve got yourself some edge!
For today’s nail art, I bring you a green and black houndstooth Konadicure featuring Orly It’s Not Rocket Science and Konad Image Plate m63.
I wore the poop out of this manicure because I loved it like Larry King loves his suspenders! Removed it reluctantly when the tipwear was looking grungy and the shine was fading.
This was the first time I tried a Konadicure using the houndstooth print, and it won’t be my last. I’ve already been thinking up different color combinations to try.
Houndstooth, how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways!

Konad Image Plate m63 Review (Houndstooth)
I really love full-nail designs like the houndstooth – they’re easy to pick up, and you don’t have to plan out your nail art like you would if you pieced together individual mages. It’s really fast to give yourself a manicure that looks like you spent much longer on.
The houndstooth lets your base color show through equally as the color you’ve chosen for the stamping. And if you opt for a classic white-and-black combo, you can really make an eye-popping statement. Or, if you’re like me, and try using two darker colors, it can bring on the drama more than Lady Gaga and Katy Perry in the same room.

Orly It’s Not Rocket Science is one of my all-time favorite greens, and it’s from the groundbreaking Orly Cosmic FX Collection, which I previously reviewed (and raved about). Since I hadn’t worn it in a while, I cracked that baby open, and fell in love with it all over again.
But I had to dress it up with some houndstooth. Really love how the sparkly olive green contrasts with the opaque black. While houndstooth can be really flashy, this combination was subtle yet had tons of personality.
Have you done any nail art with any of the Orly Cosmic FX polishes? What color combinations would you like me to try with the Konad houndstooth plate?
Gorgeous!! I would love to see that with hot pink and black or blue and silver…. =)
Thanks so much, Andrea!
Since I did a neon pink and black Konadicure already (not for the houndstooth, but for a leopard print), I’m going to try out a blue and silver houndstooth Konadicure like you suggested. So please stop by again within a few weeks to see the swatches – hope it turns out as well as I’m picturing it in my head. 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion – I think that’s an awesome combination.
Hey Andrea!
It’s been a long time, but I finally was able to try your suggestion of a blue and silver houndstooth Konadicure. You can see it here: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/nail-art-blue-silver-houndstooth-konadicure-using-konad-image-plate-m63-china-glaze-caribbean-blue-china-glaze-millennium/
