Zoya Sia Swatches & Review

Zoya Sia Swatches & Review

Zoya Sia from the Focus Collection will have you feeling blue. But no, not the down-in-the-dumps way. It’s more along the lines of jam-packed vibrancy like the always entertaining Blue Man Group!

(I saw the Blue Man Group’s live performance at the Panasonic Theatre when they came to Toronto years ago. So many great memories from the show…hehe, and I remember ducking as mashed bananas catapulted into the audience! It was one of those performances that really kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time. You never knew what to expect!)

Boisterous and full of unbridled energy, Zoya Sia is the pop of cobalt blue that nailphile dreams are made of. *Angelic harps could faintly be heard as I was painting my nails. Then again, maybe it’s the neighbour listening to music.* 😉

Although I have a soft spot for green, Zoya Sia managed to snuggled up beside me and melt my heart.

Stunning and saturated, it’s proof that creme finishes can still be exciting and fierce!

Key Notes

Zoya Sia Review

Colour

Sia by Zoya is a lively blue that’s bold like a staccato for your nails, and it’s funky without being over-the-top. (Hehe, not that I have anything against loud polishes. As you know, I embrace them!)

It’s bright, but not glaring, and it never manages to look black or near-black, even in very dim lighting. This is my kind of blue!

Finish

The creme finish is simple and far from boring because it allows the blue to shine and be the true star.

Application & Formula

Smooth, creamy, and pigmented, it’s a joy to paint with, and I didn’t experience any hiccups.

The first coat was so intense, but I still added a second coat since that’s my nail-polishing standard. (With two coats, it completely covers the nail line, and you shouldn’t need additional coats.)

Staining

Blues are notorious for staining. Some are worse than others.

Sia by Zoya is so pigmented that even in Zoya’s official press release, they warned you to wear a base coat to prevent staining!

You should always wear a base coat, but especially with saturated blues, you should consider doubling up. Better to be safe, rather than sorry!

I wore two coats of my favourite base coat, which is actually a nail strengthener (Nail Envy – the Maintenance version). I’m pleased to report that I didn’t encounter any staining, so at long as you prepare your nails with a reliable base coat, you should be fine.

Big-5-Free

If you’re looking for healthier nail-polish options, Zoya nail polish is a good choice, as their formulas are free of Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Camphor, and DBP.

Animal-Friendliness

It also feels great supporting a company that is animal-friendly and vegan-friendly.

Pros

  • Vibrant blue
  • Creme finish is easy to apply & remove
  • Very pigmented
  • No Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Camphor, or DBP
  • Animal-friendly
  • Vegan-friendly

Cons

  • So pigmented that it could stain your nails if you don’t prep with a base coat
  • If you don’t order nail polishes online, getting your hands on Zoya can be a bit tricky

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

Yes! I’m a big fan of Zoya Sia because the colour has the punchiness that I adore, and the formula is incredible and consistent, as I’ve come to expect from Zoya.

Highly recommend this shade, but make sure you double up with a good base coat to avoid potential staining.

Does Zoya Sia make your heart race, too? How do you normally prepare your nails from potential staining, or do you avoid those types of polishes completely?

This is such a rich color. It was one of the first ones that I scooped up when the collection came out. It might stain, but it worth it! LOL 🙂 It’s just too pretty to pass up. And it looks great on you too!

      Hey Melissa!

This blue makes me want to dig through my collection and wear all my blues! Hehe, Sia has become one of my new favourite blues – so creamy and pigmented. Plus I didn’t have any staining when I wore a base coat. (I was bracing myself to expect the worst, since Zoya even warned consumers that they should wear a base coat to prevent the staining. But when I removed it, it was all good!) 🙂

      Hey Sasha!

Oh, did you get a chance to see the Blue Man Group live?

I still remember a lot of the show like it was yesterday. The live performance was incredible and very colourful! Hehe, there was paint splattered everywhere as they hit their drums and played other instruments. Oh, and I’ll never forget how one of the people I went with didn’t quite duck fast enough, so the mashed banana got on his shirt when it shot out into the audience! Hahahaha – you can’t fall asleep during their performances.

      Hey Lizzy!

From the moment I first saw it in person among the other shades in the collection, I wanted it on my nails ASAP! 🙂 It didn’t let me down!
