I’m excited (and a little nervous) to bring you this review on Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0 because it has been quite a long time coming!
If you’ve done any research on nail polish online, you’ll no doubt have come across Scrangie, an awesome blogger who I’ve looked up to for years.
Before nail bloggers popped up everywhere, she was already swatching and reviewing lacquers. For this reason, I always consider her blog to be the Mother of All Nail Blogs. And I just can’t help having a Fan Girl Moment whenever she likes a photo on my Instagram…hehe!
She also has a wicked sense of self and style, which I respect and draw a lot of inspiration from. Plus she’s smart and knows how to crack a joke.
I have been very humbled each time she has supported me and my blogging journey, and she is one of the many incredible bloggers in our nail community that you really need to check out!
So when I caught wind that Scrangie would be collaborating with Rescue Beauty Lounge for a second colour (yes, I also have the first one she came out with – reviewed it back in 2011), I just knew I’d buy it.
I didn’t care if she called it “Poopie Canoopie” or “Waka-laka-ding-dong” – I’d get it because I support her, what her blog stands for, and how well she’s representing the nail community! (It’s like icing on the cake that Rescue Beauty Lounge creates top-notch nail-polish formulas!)
So…although I can’t fully do justice to her intricate nail-polish creation, here it goes! *Takes a deep breath* *Doesn’t bite fingernails* 😉
I always feel the excitement when September rolls around, so this time, I decided to try my hand at my first ever Chalkboard Nails (or Back to School Nails)!
Ever since I first laid eyes on the Bundle Monster Holiday Collection Nail Stamping Image Plates, I knew I had to use BM-H23 for chalkboard nail art.
Although I smudged the design, and not all the white lines are crisp, I still fell in love with this look. To me, it really does look like chalk on a board. (And remember my philosophy? Happiness is more important than perfection!) Plus how can you not smile when you see globes, the Einstein’s Theory of Relativity (E=mc²), a glass beaker, and a mathematical equation on your nails? 😉
(Check out my photos of my thumb. You’ll be able to see more of the design. I have small fingers, so the entire design didn’t show up on the other 4 nails. But, the good news is that you get enough of the pattern showing up well!)
The green base is the lovely Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle, the white polish is Konad Special Nail Polish White, and to give the entire design that authentic chalkboard feel, I finished off the look with the OPI Matte Top Coat.
It’s been several years since I graduated from university with my Psychology Honours B.A., but I still get mistaken for being a student. (It’s always funny when I tell people my age, and I witness the look of surprise creep up on their face.)
For all of you who are going back to school today, I hope that the day goes smoothly and that you have a great time with your friends (and that you meet new kindred spirits)!
Although studying isn’t as fun as nail polish, put in the effort and try your best to do well. Your education is important, and even if it seems very stressful, stick to it. All your hardships and experiences in school really do help to shape you and prepare you for life later on, not just with book smarts.
Enjoy working on your projects, doing presentations for class, checking out the cutie who sits 2 desks in front of you, and getting involved with extracurricular activities to keep you well-rounded.
When the Rescue Beauty Lounge Blogger 2.0 Collection was available for pre-order, I was right on it! Among the shades I purchased was this vampy beauty – Rescue Beauty Lounge Fashion Polish!
Sure, you may still be thinking about neons, flip flops, and pool parties, but you can sport dark wonders like this even before the mercury rises.
I don’t have too much diversity in my collection when it comes to black nail polish. None of them have multi-coloured glitter, which is why I opted for this – thought it was way more interesting than your typical black-and-silver-glitter nail polish.
Rescue Beauty Lounge Turn It Around from the Emoting Me Collection is one of the most unique nail polishes I have come across in quite a long time.
Green lacquer is my comfort colour, and swampy greens such as this make me feel like the Frog Prince who got his kiss from the princess. (Can you see my heart beating?) *Ribbit Ribbit*
Turn It Around is absolutely stunning because the green base and copper/rosy shimmer look slightly different, depending on the lighting.
This is one of my new treasures, and I have nothing like this in my stash of 600+ bottles of nail polish!
Good job, Rescue Beauty Lounge, for taking a risk and putting out a nail polish that’s a leader instead of a follower!
Pretty recently, I asked on Twitter if any of you had suggestions for nail-art designs to do on my friend.
I got a lot of great suggestions, but I settled on a simple gradient as well as dots.
Here’s the Glitter Manicure…on a MAN that I created!
Haha, originally, I was thinking about making this manicure more masculine, but as I started painting, it ended up being girly. 😉
Now, I told you (and showed you) in yesterday’s post that I overcompensated this year by wearing China Glaze Party Hearty a lot to make up for not sporting it last year.
The one Instagram photo I snapped with my iPhone was insufficient. When you go overboard, you have to really go overboard, take the plunge, and throw all the sailors off the boat with you! (Just make sure they can swim first!) 😉
So, here are lots of photos of my Christmas Manicure that I’ve been wearing since December 25th all the way up to today. (Plus I only took the photos for this post with my proper camera yesterday evening. While it’s no longer a fresh manicure, I still loved it so much and wanted to share some holiday spirit.)
Some of you may know that I spent the holidays at my mom’s place. We were pretty busy, and I literally painted this 30 minutes before guests arrived because I didn’t want my nails to be naked for a special occasion. (Thank goodness for the miraculous Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat…hehe!)
Layering Party Hearty over dark green is my favourite so far. What other colours have you used under it? I’d love to see it over a purple.
