Welcome to the first ‘Haul of Shame’ post!
I’ve got a pretty special post coming soon (hint: it’s nail-polish related). So excited to share it with you, and I’ve been working hard on it for a couple of days now.
Today I’m putting up a haul post since one of our readers, Kee, showed some interest in seeing these type of posts. Please let me know if you’d like this to be a regular feature or not.
Haul of Shame posts will be where we air our dirty makeup laundry. We’ll show the good, the bad, the cheap, and the pricey. You never know what you might see. But hopefully you’ll like it. And hopefully we won’t look too much like makeup addicts (even though we totally are!).
If there’s something you see that you’d like to know more about or that you’d like to see a review on, please leave a comment to let us know.
Here’s What I Got!
- Orly Bonder Rubberized Basecoat
- China Glaze Liquid Leather
- China Glaze Spontaneous
- Nubar Tiara
- Nubar Midnight Glory
- Orly Luxe
- Orly Sapphire Silk
- Nubar Love Rainbow
- Nubar Chocolate Caramel
- Out The Door Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat (Silver)
- Nubar Reclaim (This is a back-up for a polish I loved & previously swatched/reviewed)
- Nubar Opulent Pearl
- Born Pretty Store Hello Kitty Image Plate
- Cinapro Dazzle Decorations Kit
I purchased everything from several different beauty-supply stores except for the Hello Kitty image plate (which I got free from a special store promotion).
Hope you enjoyed this little haul! Remember to come back in a few days – I’ve got a special nail-polish post coming up really soon. 😀
Do you have any of these items? Want to see detailed reviews on any of the above items? Let me know!
Whee! Your first haul of shame post!! I loooove it!! Thanks for sharing.
Aaaawww, what’s up with your plate?? Boo! But yes, at least the HK is intact, she’s the most important one!
Lol I feel like I’m a part of this haul b/c of the Nubar and HK plate. Yay! =)

Hehe…I didn’t feel guilty until I started taking photographs of it all.
Yeah, I was a little bummed about the clover because that would be nice to have for next year’s St. Patrick’s Day. Oh well…I got it for Hello Kitty anyway.
Haha, let’s have a haul party. We can enable each other. Oh, wait…that could be really dangerous! 😛
Yeah it doesn’t really seem so bad until you see it all together!!
Oh man, a haul party. That WOULD be dangerous! Imagine if we went shopping together. We can enable each other to bankruptcy!!
Update: The Born Pretty Store sent me a replacement image plate, and all the images are showing up properly! Great customer service! 😀
Tomorrow, I’ll be posting up nail art using the Hello Kitty design.
Quick question: How does Out The Door Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat compare to China Glaze Fairy Dust? TIA
BTW: I love the Haul of Shame, so I don’ feel so bad when I shop like a lunatic. LOL!!!

Hi Lois!
That’s a good question. I have China Glaze Fairy Dust, so I can totally do comparison swatches for you. Right now I’m not at home, so I don’t have the bottles to look at. When I get home, I’ll take a look and give you a better answer.
I also plan to do a post in the next few days comparing them with swatches. I’ll also review the formulas to see which is better (if one is even better). When that’s up, I’ll put the link here, too, in case others have the same question.
Thanks for the idea!
P.S. Yay, I’m so happy that you enjoyed Haul of Shame!
Okay, I’m looking at the bottles side by side now, and the particles themselves seem to have the same degree of holographic-ness.
The main noticeable difference is that China Glaze Fairy Dust has a slightly yellower tint, but that could just be the bottle. Also, Out The Door Northern Lights (Silver) has to be shaken up because after a short time, the particles sink to the bottom. But China Glaze Fairy Dust doesn’t have to be shaken up – the particles remain suspended in the polish.
But like I said in my previous reply, I’m going to do comparison swatches in an upcoming post. That’ll really show whether or not there are any major differences.
Hi again, Lois!
Just wanted you (and our other readers out there) to know that I’ve just put up a post with pictures and swatches comparing the two polishes you asked me to compare: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/polish-war-china-glaze-fairy-dust-vs-out-the-door-northern-lights-silver-hologram-top-coat-swatches-review/
Hope you find it helpful!
I passed over the Orly Rubberized Bonder for years because it sounds horrifying- but I got it in a nail kit and used it to adhere “nail dresses” (like the Sally Hansen ones”. I love it. Works great! It’s my go-to now! 😀
Hey Sara,
After I bought it, I heard that some people said it can stain your nails yellow. Did you find this to be the case at all even in the slightest? I really hope not. Gonna try it out for my next manicure, so I’ll find out soon enough!
ahah really nice products and the name you put it so cool!! ahaha
Thanks, Seda! 🙂 Have you tried any of them?
