While I’m definitely not a fan of the fading pop star, one thing’s for certain: I’m completely in love with her 2005 fragrance, Britney Spears Fantasy.
It wasn’t brand marketing that sucked me in – I was flipping through the pages of a fashion magazine when I smelled it and had to find out what was so amazing.
The Britney Spears Fantasy perfume has been my signature fragrance for 5 years now, and even when I experiment with others, I always come back to this one because it’s playful and sweet, yet isn’t necessarily immature.

Britney Spears Fantasy Review
It’s a shame that the mere mention of Britney Spears is enough to turn a lot of people off this celebrity fragrance. The professional nose behind it is actually Jim Krivda for Elizabeth Arden.
Fragrances smell differently depending on your body chemistry, so it’s important to spray a scent on your skin and walk around the store for about 20 minutes to see how the smell evolves down to the bottom notes. Sniffing directly from the bottle alone will only give you a hint of the top notes, but when you wear it, it’s really the middle and bottom notes that last the longest.
In press releases, Britney Spears Fantasy perfume was said to have notes of red lychee, golden quince, kiwi, cupcake accord, jasmine petals, white chocolate orchid, musk, orris root, and sensual woods.
When I first spray it on, I get a lot of kiwi and lychee. It’s definitely very fruity but there’s some warmth to it so it’s not as sharp as, say, raspberry. After about 20 minutes, the fruitiness softens while the jasmine and cupcake emerge. A couple of hours later, I smell cotton candy, white chocolate, and musk. These final notes are my absolute favorites and last the longest. There’s something very comforting, feminine, and playful about it – it’s suitable for both day and night wear. And although many people assume it’s for teens, I can picture a woman of any age pulling this off with flair.
Unlike an eau de toilette, eau de parfum really has good staying power. I put the Britney Spears Fantasy perfume on before I go to work in the morning, and the scent lingers until midnight. With this fragrance, you don’t have to layer the scent or respray for it to last.
Out of all the fragrances that I’ve tried in the past (Tommy Girl, CK One, Exclamation Blush, Lush Snow Fairy, Lush Olive Branch, etc.), this is the one perfume that I get tons of compliments on from both females and males. It’s light but noticeable and the scent wears close to the skin. I hate fragrances that hit others like a ton of bricks before you even enter the room – turns me off and makes me gag.
I also have a sensitive nose and lots of fragrances give me headaches. But this one doesn’t, so it gets the thumbs up! And just to give you an idea of how much I truly adore the Britney Spears Fantasy eau de parfum: I wear this almost every single day, and I’ve finished 4 full 50ml bottles of it. Now I’m almost halfway through my first 100ml bottle, and I also have 5 more unopened bottles of it still in the wrapped box.
The only thing about Britney Spears Fantasy that gets the thumbs down is the gaudy bottle design. The roundness and the pink color are cutesy and juvenile (which I don’t really mind), but all those tiny little crystals and bumps along the bottleneck? Tacky!

This is the only fragrance that I’ve ever worn for such a long time, and I surprisingly haven’t gotten tired of it. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys soft, girly perfumes that are sweet, calming, and romantic. And if you love the smell of cotton candy, you will feel like a kid in a candy store!
