Nail Art Tutorial: Panda Nails

Panda Nails Nail Art Tutorial Bear Nail Art TutorialBy now pretty much everyone has seen the cute YouTube clip of a baby panda sneezing. Awww!

And most people should know that the panda is an endangered species. If not for conservation efforts, this beautiful creature might cease to exist.

To help raise wildlife awareness, I decided to create Panda Nails this time. Hope you like it.

Surprisingly, this nail art doesn’t involve a lot of tools. In fact, I used the regular nail-polish brush for all of it except for the eyes and paws – used a dotting tool for that.

It also only uses 3 colors – black, white, and green, so hopefully you’ll find it easier to replicate than, say, The Grapes of Wrath Nails that I did earlier.

Let me know what you think and if there are any other animals you’d like to see me try to paint. I’m not a good artist, but I’m always willing to try. Effort is worth a lot.

P.S. I just thought that you could try doing this in primary colors and they’d look like gummy bears!

Nail Art: Crackle Manicure Using Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down & Bundle Monster Image Plate BM 208

New Bundle Monster Image Plates BM 208 Crackle ManicureIf you’ve seen my previous blog post, you’ll know that I fell in lust with Caught With My Khakis Down, a jaw-dropping fatigue green, from the Sephora by OPI Safari Luxe Collection.

After wearing it for a little while, I wanted to turn it into a Crackle Manicure. But all the colorful crackle polishes I had didn’t seem to go with it, and I didn’t feel like using OPI Black Shatter or China Glaze Black Mesh.

Then I remembered a new Bundle Monster Image Plate I have (BM 208), which had just the effect I wanted.

As you can see, this design has thin lines that allow the base color to shine through. I really like how the lines form many quadrilaterals.

It reminds me of a spider web…if the spider was spinning its web while drinking Red Bull and listening to the song Seven by Army of the Pharaohs. (Yes, Wilbur, Charlotte’s kids are all grown up now.)

Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down Swatches & Review

Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down Swatches ReviewYou know how much I love me some green nail lacquer, so when I first heard about the limited-edition Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down from the Safari Luxe Collection, I couldn’t resist!

Had no idea that this fatigue green would land in my list of top 5 green polishes of all time! It’s so different than all the other greens in my collection.

It’s too bad my camera didn’t do it justice, though. For some reason, I could only capture it being either super gray or with too much teal. In person, it’s a touch more primary green and a lot more dusty – definitely a grayish green.

Let me get into the nitty gritty of it and tell you why Caught With My Khakis Down is a winner in my makeup book! Continue reading

Sephora by OPI Metro Chic Swatches & Review

Sephora by OPI Metro Chic SwatchesAs you know, normally I love wearing statement colors and even cutesy cupcake nail art, but this time I reached for a ‘palette cleanser’ hue to help me from getting burnt out on constantly wearing holy cannoli polishes.

Sephora by OPI Metro Chic has been in my nail-polish collection for a long time, but I never wore it until now because neutrals aren’t my thing.

Well, this Metro Chic polish is one of the few neutrals I’m surprisingly falling for hard!

As you’ll see from my multiple swatches of it in various lighting, you’ll see how it morphs from a grayish taupe to a purplish taupe. This mushroomy color is very subdued yet has a little secret.

Did you fall in love with this shade like thousands upon thousands of others during the insane hype back in 2008 when it was first launched? Or are you just getting into it now? Continue reading

Sephora by OPI How Many Carats Review & Swatches

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Those who love splashes of colors on their nails might think Sephora by OPI How Many Carats is a yawn fest. But there is something sophisticated and demure about this milky white shade that’s appealing. Plus, it’s a great shade for a classic French manicure.

My issue with Sephora How Many Carats isn’t so much the not-so-exciting shade. It’s more with the quality you get. It is definitely not worth the price – an expensive price, at that! Come see why! Continue reading

Sephora by OPI Top Coat Review

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

When I first started doing my nails many moons ago, I never used base and top coats. I know – what faux pas! Then I grew older and wiser and started better protecting my manicures. It only makes sense after putting so much time and effort into them, right?

One of the TCs that I use is the Sephora by OPI Top Coat. I originally got this because I was drawn in by the brands, Sephora and OPI. Who knew two rights don’t make a better right… Continue reading
