Nail Art Tutorial: Valentine’s Day Nails

Valentine's Day Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesHappy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

I love Valentine’s Day because it serves as a reminder to appreciate the people we’re so lucky and blessed to have in our lives whether you’re happily married or single.

Will you all be my nail Valentine? 😉

It seems like it’s been a long time since I’ve done a nail-art tutorial, and I couldn’t let February 14 roll by without doing something!

So, here are some quick little Valentine’s Day Nails. If you turn your head to the right (or look at my other photos in this post), you’ll see that they have fluffy, white clouds that have lightning and that are raining down a slew of hearts.

My inspiration for this was the cheesy (but fun!) song, It’s Raining Men! Instead of men, though, I thought I’d paint hearts.

This is a very easy manicure that you can whip up in a pinch. Hope that some of you will try it sometime, even if you don’t today. 🙂

I wish you all love and happiness! Thank you for being the best blog readers in the world – it brings tears to my eyes at how loyal you are!

OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know? Swatches & Review

OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know Swatches & ReviewWhen I heard about OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know?, the first thing that came to mind was a joke from the musical, Mary Poppins.

Do you remember the joke about a man with a wooden leg named Smith? (The awful punchline was: What was the name of his other leg?) Haha, it was really cheesy when I was a kid, but it still makes me smile now.

Wooden Shoe Like to Know? from the OPI Holland Collection reminds me a lot of Whoppers…but maybe I’m craving something chocolatey as I write this. 😉

OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes Swatches & Review

OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes Swatches & ReviewAs you know, I’m usually all about bold colours, so OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes from the Holland Collection is waaaay out of my comfort zone.

OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes is a ladylike muted rose, and I can’t say that I have ever reached for this kind of colour. It’s very safe, which means that it usually is off my radar.

But when I had the opportunity to give it a spin, I was curious like a cat to see if this could be the shade that would pique my interest in this colour family or not.

If you wear a lot of cream, white, tan, or brown clothing, though, I can see this looking really amazing as a complementary colour.

OPI I Don’t Give a Rotterdam! Swatches & Review

OPI I Don't Give a Rotterdam Swatches & ReviewLife can be quite the pitcher. And some people seem to constantly get thrown crazy curve balls that make them strike out and feel frustrated.

Instead of giving up, sometimes you just have to learn how to let some things roll off your back. As gross as the saying sounds, you need to develop thicker skin or you’ll risk getting emotional wounded at the drop of a hat.

OPI I Don’t Give a Rotterdam! from the new OPI Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 not only has a funny name that’ll make you smile, but it also serves as a great reminder that when life hands you lemons, be glad that you’re not a lobster!

OPI Holland Collection Spring/Summer 2012 Press Release & Promo Pictures

OPI Holland Collection Press Release Spring Summer 2012You may have already heard about the OPI Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012, but just in case you haven’t, here you go!

The ones that caught my eye initially were Thanks a WindMillion, I Have a Herring Problem, and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!

Some of the names make me laugh. That’s partially why I love OPI – they have fun with the names and usually they come up with something really creative. It’s way more fun to own a colour with a quirky name than just something like “Blue”.

Which colours are you looking forward to in the OPI Holland Collection? If you could name your own polish, what would it be called?

OPI Not Like the Movies Swatches, Review & Konadicure

OPI Not Like the Movies Swatches & ReviewAs I was going through my computer and deleting photos, I came across photos of OPI Not Like the Movies taken with my old camera in the summer.

Since I still strongly remember wearing this manicure, I feel comfortable providing you with an in-depth review of the polish.

This blog post is going to be slightly different than my typical swatch-and-review posts, though.

All the photos I show have the Konadicure I did on top of it because I didn’t wear the colour solo, and I have no photos of it solo. Despite this set-back, I think that you’ll still be able to see the multichrome nature of the polish. Continue reading

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe Swatches & Review (Layered Over OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It!)

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe Swatches & ReviewDeborah Lippmann Across the Universe is my first Deborah Lippmann nail polish. It was the one that I was lemming badly ever since I first set eyes on it.

Even though I bought it at the same time as Chanel Peridot, it took me all this time to wear it! Why? I wanted to save it for a special occasion…at least for the first time.

New Year’s Eve was the perfect opportunity because not only does it have the bling, but it complemented my blue monochromatic outfit.

I layered Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe over OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! Using the OPI as a base allowed me to achieve the bottle colour with fewer coats of Deborah Lippmann.

I wore this polish from December 30th to January 2nd. All swatches were photographed on the last day, unfortunately.

Later on in this post, I’ll show you what Across the Universe looks like solo.

What did you wear to ring in the New Year?
