Reader Request: Minty Green Nail-Polish Comparison Swatches & Photos

Mint Green Nail Polish Swatches & Comparison PhotosRecently when I reviewed Topshop Gone Fishing, one of my readers (Alex), asked if I could do a Minty Green Nail-Polish Comparison post with specific hues.

Since I was also curious about how different or similar the shades were (as well as a couple of others), I was happy to oblige. Hope that you’ll find this mint green nail-polish comparison helpful!

The nail polishes I compared were Topshop Gone Fishing, Duri Summer Rain, China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint, Essie Mint Candy Apple, OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, and China Glaze For Audrey. (I’ve reviewed some of those polishes in-depth in separate posts. Find links later in this post.)

If you would like me to do more comparison posts like this in the future, please let me know specifically which polishes you’re interested in seeing.

I can’t promise that I’ll fulfill all reader requests. It depends on if I already have the polishes and if I have time. (I work very hard on my blog after my full-time job and on the weekends, so time can be really tight, especially when I squeeze blogging inbetween my social life and freelance-work schedules.)

That being said, I will pick a few requests to do! I have a pack of blank nail wheels that I haven’t been using much. It’s time to put them to work! *Cracks whip* 😉

P.S. You may remember that I’ve said before how I don’t swatch nail polish on my nails. It’s not my style. I wear full manicures and then take photos while I’m wearing them. This is how I really enjoy polish. I only use the term ‘swatch’ because it’s the familiar lingo. Well, the only time I’m comfortable with actual swatching is on nail wheels for comparison posts like this or to show you layering experiments. I hope that you’ll understand my reasoning. I love polish, and if I ever start swatching on my own nails, it may kill my enthusiasm. I don’t want that to happen!)

OPI Struts the Catwalk During New York Fashion Week 2013

OPI at New York Fashion Week 2013You already know that I love nail polish, writing, and the colour green. But did you know that I love fashion, too?

While I’d never call myself a fashionista or style maven, I have subscribed to many fashion magazines since I was in elementary school, and I get just as excited about buying new clothes as I do about listening to amazing music. (Some of my favourite shows that I’ve watched are Project Runway, Fashion Police, and the old What Not to Wear.)

I enjoy participating in fashion trends, but haha, I know better than to try to partake in every single one. Basically I choose to follow the ones that fit into my personal style, although I also like to try new looks to broaden my horizons and to have fun. (Fashion, like beauty, is about having fun to me!)

PR sent me 4 press releases yesterday about how OPI Struts the Catwalk During New York Fashion Week. Although I’ve never posted anything like this on here, I felt it was something cool to share, so I hope that you’ll appreciate it.

To me, it’s very interesting seeing nail polish in action on the runway and to watch colour trends making their mark. Plus seeing the colours on different models shows you how versatile the hues really are.

Nail Art Tutorial: Football Nails

Football Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesWow, last night’s Super Bowl game was crazy intense just like Beyonce’s Half Time performance! (And it was really cool to see Destiny’s Child reunite!)

With the lights going out in the second half and the close scores in the final minutes, I was on the edge of my seat!

Touch dowwwnnnn! (Sorry, I just had to say that somewhere in this post!)

This was the first Super Bowl that I ever watched the majority of, and boy did I pick a good one! This was really exciting, even for someone like me who doesn’t follow football.

On game day, I was sporting these Football Nails! I rushed to whip them up, and they’re so simple, anyone can recreate them. Plus you only need 3 different colours. It’s a great look for someone who doesn’t have patience to do more a more complicated nail design.

So…the Baltimore Ravens won! I’m neither a fan of the Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers, so I knew I’d be happy for whoever won. But I know that a lot of people were really disappointed because the 49ers were the favourites. (In a way, though, I’m a little glad that the Ravens won just because the 49ers won more Super Bowls. It’s nice when the underdog wins.)

OPI Sprung Swatches & Review

OPI Sprung Swatches & ReviewOPI Sprung is a nail polish that I think is actually the perfect fall shade, even though it came out earlier this month as part of the Mariah Carey Collection.

If you are a fan of OPI Warm & Fozzie like I am, chances are that you’ll also fall head over heels for OPI Sprung as well.

No, they’re not dupes, but they have a similar duochrome metallic shimmer that’s totally blingy. (Click the above link for my review and photos of Warm & Fozzie to see what I mean. It’s more like OPI Sprung’s sibling instead of twin.)

P.S. As of today, I’ve reviewed and photographed every single nail polish in the OPI Mariah Carey Collection except for Anti-Bleak (which I don’t own)! Hmm…I probably won’t buy that because the colour doesn’t stand out to me. Then again, the lacquer collector in me is considering getting it just so that I’ll have a complete set…

OPI Glints of Glinda Swatches & Review

OPI Glints of Glinda Swatches & ReviewMy cuticles may be as dry as the Sahara Desert, and the yellow I sported earlier may have slightly stained my cuticles a bit, but I hope that you can overlook all that and concentrate on the Soft Shade beauty that is OPI Glints of Glinda from the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection.

You know that I prefer manicures that whallop gongs rather than tap the triangle, but something about this nail polish wooed me.

This is the closest to Mannequin Hands that I’ve ever had. I’ve long admired the look on others, but all the softer colours I’ve tried were either too light, too dark, or too yellow.

OPI Glints of Glinda isn’t a perfect match to my skin tone, but it was close enough that I felt comfortable and happy sporting it!

Out of all the 3 delicate shades in the Oz Collection, this is the one that I can picture myself wearing many times. I think it’ll be a great palate cleanser in between the bold shades I usually sport.

OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble Swatches & Review

OPI Don't Burst My Bubble Swatches & ReviewOPI Don’t Burst My Bubble is one of the three soft shades in the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection.

It’s whiter and milkier than OPI I Theodora You, but pinker than Glints of Glinda.

I wore this manicure for about 3-4 days. That’s probably surprising because vibrant shades are my thing.

Haha, but the reason why my manicure turnaround time was slower was because I had been feeling too ill to paint my nails! (I only started feeling well enough to put in the effort to paint my nails again on Thursday.)

While wearing OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble, I actually grew to appreciate it more. It’s clean and fresh. However, since I wore this when I was trying to get over the flu, unfortunately my mind has associated it with illness! It’s a pretty, sweet shade, but it was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. 😉

OPI I Theodora You Swatches & Review

OPI I Theodora You Swatches & ReviewIt’s very uncharacteristic of me to wear soft manicures like OPI I Theodora You.

While I admire them on others, when I sport them myself, it’s intimidating because my nails feel naked.

And since I’m used to seeing bold colours on myself, when I see this, it’s like looking at someone else’s hands. Surreal!

I Theodora You is one of the Soft Shades from the OPI Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful Collection that comes out in March.

I gave it a shot, and while it looks very clean and indeed ‘soft’, I can’t say that it screams Mary. Maybe it whispers Mary. 😉

P.S. I never noticed how dry my hands have become lately until I looked at the photos for this post! It’s probably because the weather’s been pretty dry, and I’ve been washing my hands a lot since I’ve been feeling ill. Don’t want to spread the germs!
