NYX Eyeshadow Base Pearl Review & Pictures

Shimmery shadows, you are the twinkle in my eye. I love all shadows, but in a heated makeup duel between shimmers and mattes for my admiration, it’d be no contest. T.K.O. by shimmers. So when I found out NYX made a base that enhances the sheen, you bet I grabbed it!

NYX Eyeshadow Base Pearl is…well, a base. It will not do what a primer does. Just make sure you go in with the right expectations so you won’t be disappointed. And make sure you have a good primer on hand because you’ll need it for this. Continue reading

I gotta tell ya: I didn’t have high hopes for NYX Eyeshadow Base Skin Tone. The White one made it to my Baddies List, but I’m actually liking this one. I’m not stunned-wowwed-omg’d by it, but it does make my Goodies List.

Just keep in mind that this is a base and not a primer. If you’re looking for a product to keep the creasing from sneaking up on you at the end of the day, this won’t do it! But if you want extra security for your shadows, give this a try. Continue reading

NYX Fabulous Lashes 116 Review & Pictures

No matter how self-conscious one is, there’s always a feature that’s a favorite. With me, my eyes are my favorite facial feature. Even still, I’ve always wanted longer, thicker eyelashes. I’m not about to drop $300 for lash extensions that take hours to do. So my next best solution is false eyelashes.

I have a few pairs by different brands – both full strips and individual ones. This review is on NYX Fabulous Lashes 116, which are full strips. They’re quite natural-looking, but if you’re not used to fake lashes, they definitely take some getting used to! Continue reading

NYX Jungle Swatches & Review

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

I’ve been avoiding wearing NYX Jungle for quite some time now. I tried it a while back but wasn’t feeling it after I applied one coat. I even brought it to use at a frankening party Mary and I had because I didn’t care much for it.

But I actually like the color more than I thought I would. Even still, I have a love-hate relationship with it. It’s a blue-green shade that can look gorgeous and blah depending on the light. You have to see it to really know what I mean. (BTW, happy Valentine’s Day!) Continue reading

NYX Eyeshadow Base White Review & Swatches

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Before I begin, I’d like to mention that NYX Eyeshadow Base White is not a primer. It is a base. What’s the difference? Both prepare the eye but for different purposes.

A primer smoothes out the lid’s surface and protects the shadow from any oil your skin naturally produces. The result is your eye makeup stays on longer without creasing. A base’s main goal is to intensify your makeup’s color. Some primers also act as bases; some bases act as primers.

Even though NYX White Eyeshadow Base claims to help your makeup last longer, it doesn’t. That’s why I want to make it clear that it’s a base, not a primer. Find out more. Continue reading

NYX Tinted Lip Spa Pinky Winky Review & Swatches

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Lipglosses, lipsticks, lipstains… While I sometimes do wear these products, most times I’d rather do without. Many reasons for this: I don’t like how they feel on my lips, or I usually forget to reapply. The only lip product I’m faithful to is a lip balm to moisturize my puckers – I absolutely can’t stand chapped lips!

I was uber excited to try the NYX Tinted Lip Spa Pinky Winky. I’m all for a lip product that moisturizes while adding a little bit of color! I chose Pinky Winky because it looks like a fun sheer pink that will add some blushing highlights to my lips. Does it live up to my expectations? Continue reading

NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer Review & Pictures

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Those of you who have heard about the new NYX HD line might already feel that it’s trying to copy another brand. Well, at least that was my first impression when I saw it online. I placed my order hoping that NYX was able to copy the quality while offering the products at slightly lower prices.

The product that I got was NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer. While I like some aspects of it, there are many that I don’t appreciate very much. It is definitely not my favorite face primer. Continue reading
