In yesterday’s post, I shared with you my Toronto Fashion Week 2016 (Day 1) experience and photos that I captured during the event.

Today, I’m sharing some Nail and Makeup Inspiration from Toronto Fashion Week 2016 (Day 1) from the Mikhael Kale show.

The models wore Essie After School Boy Blazer and Essie Stylenomics on their nails and Maybelline New York makeup.

You’ll find the details on how to recreate the looks, along with some model shots to give you a better idea overall.

Toronto Fashion Week 2016 & Chatting with Rita Remark (Essie’s Global Lead Educator)

Toronto Fashion Week 2016 Rita Remark Essie

Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of attending the Toronto Fashion Week 2016, which was held at David Pecaut Square in Toronto.

If you follow me on social media, you already know that and got to see a few photos that I snapped with my phone during the event.

This post contains those photos, since not everyone uses social media, as well as many additional photos. I hope they give you a taste of what it was like to be backstage at a runway show!

Also, I got to chat with Rita Remark, Essie’s Global Lead Educator. This will be the third time that I’ve had this honour, and each time, I leave inspired by how hard-working, humble, and successful she is!

Rita is one of those people who, I believe, will always stay grounded with her heart in the right place, no matter how far her career takes her.

Later in this post, I share with you some of the questions I asked and her answers.

P.S. When looking more closely at the photo of Rita and me, I laughed. The way the light is shining on my glasses makes me look like I have painted a “W” across my face! (Oh the first-world problems of those with bad eyesight!)

It’s part of the upcoming Essie Resort 2016 Collection that officially drops on March 29, 2016, and in person, it looks more vivid than it translates in photos. (Click the above link to see my swatches of all the colours in the collection.)

Not for the shy violets, this bold blue will garner attention from onlookers. (While wearing this manicure, several strangers complimented me on the colour, so it just reconfirmed what I already thought – it’s a winner!)

Essie Bikini So Teeny Swatches & Review

Essie Bikini So Teeny Swatches Review

Rummage through the collection of most nail-polish enthusiasts, and you’ll probably find Essie Bikini So Teeny, which originally launched back in the Summer 2012 Collection.

It’s an oldie, but a goodie with its popularity never fading over the years. (You can still easily find it in stores and online.)

With Pantone announcing Serenity as one of the Colours of the Year, Essie Bikini So Teeny not only remains a classic nail polish, but in 2016, it’s now the ‘it’ shade.

This is proof of the cyclical nature of trends. Everything comes back in fashion, if you only give it some time.

But you don’t have to follow the trends. You can start your own. I encourage it, and if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I believe in the power of colour and self-expression. If that means wearing black polish in the summer and neons in the winter, then so be it. Make your own mark, and enjoy exploring colour on your own terms!

Essie Spring 2016 Collection Swatches

Essie Spring 2016 Collection Swatches

Officially launching on February 16, 2016, the Essie Spring 2016 Collection is full of beautiful colours that may take your mind off Old Man Winter!

In today’s post, you’ll find my quick-and-dirty swatches (i.e. no base or top coat) of all six colours and snapshots of the bottles.

I used two coats of each colour, and I was impressed with the pigmentation on every single one of these. Yes, even the palest shade was fully opaque!

The formula on all of these is smooth and easy to glide onto your nails. It’s one of Essie’s better creme formulas.

Stay tuned because I plan to wear some of the colours in the Essie Spring 2016 Collection as full manicures. After I do, you can expect to see my usual in-depth reviews with multiple swatch photos of each colour in different lighting conditions.

(Those are my favourite types of posts to prepare because I enjoy showing you all the nuances of a polish, how it wears, if it stains, etc. But I realize that many of you enjoy seeing the full collection in a snapshot, so this post is especially for those who have requested it.)

Now it’s time to whet your nail-polish appetite! 😉
