SpaRitual Shooting Star Swatches & Review

SpaRitual-Shooting-Star-Swatches-Review-Pictures-PhotosToday’s focus is on SpaRitual Shooting Star. I’m not sure why it’s named that since when most people conjure up mental images of stars and the galaxy, blue springs to mind more than purple.

Nevertheless, Shooting Star is a colour that shoots for the moon and lands among the stars. It’s a looker! (My photos don’t do it any justice. In person, it’s prettier.)

If you have this one, I suggest wearing it on a sunny day because that’s when the amazing shimmer really shines through and works its magic like a nail-polish Houdini.

It’s vampy and seems like it’s lit from within, which makes this polish a pleasure to wear!

SpaRitual Shooting Star Review

Colour

Shooting Star by SpaRitual is a violet that has lots of reddish magenta shimmer. It’s a sexy polish that I associate more with fall and winter, but feel free to wear whatever colour whenever you want.

It’s very vampy without looking black, even in poor lighting, and you can always see the shimmer, which is a plus. However, to get the full effect, you need to see it in full sunlight to get the ‘wow factor’.

Finish

This is a shimmer polish, and the particles are medium-sized, which makes them more prominent without being really flashy like a glitter polish.

The finish is smooth and not gritty.

Application & Formula

Application was lovely. I only needed 2 coats to fully cover my nail, and the formula was smooth, problem-free, and easy to control even though it was a bit on the watery side.

Pros

  • Pretty violet polish with red/magenta shimmer
  • Has medium-sized shimmer
  • Lit-from-within look
  • Vampy without looking black even in dim lighting
Cons

  • Can be tricky to find because it’s from an old 2011 collection

Final Verdict: 8/10

Shooting Star by SpaRitual is a cool purple that I recommend if you don’t have something already similar to it. It plays with the light and never looks flat.

How far have you ever gone to track down a polish from an old collection? What do you think about the SpaRitual bottle shape?

I love how you rate the polishes. I actually read the blog backwards starting there and then working my way up πŸ˜‰

      Hey Jeanette!

Why, thank you! πŸ™‚ Hehe, whatever works for you.

The funny thing is that when Swatch And Learn first began, the rating and the written review was at the top, and then the photos were at the bottom. But then I switched things around (even on older posts) to the way it looks today. Back then, most people would see a lot of text and then just leave without reading it. But with photos near the top, people seemed to stay longer and then read the rest. πŸ™‚

    What a gorgeous purple.

I recently scored OPI Man of La-Mancha off of Ebay for $11! I had been watching it for a long time but was not willing to spend the ridiculous prices a lot of sellers were asking. I just can’t resist those gorgeous old multi-chrome colors, and Man of La-Mancha does not disappoint. The Swatchaholic has some gorgeous picts of it on her blog.

      Hey Heidi!

Whaaaaaaaat? $11? That’s a huge deal! Cherish yours!

OPI Man of La-Mancha has been on my To-Buy List for over a year, but I still haven’t got it because of the high eBay prices. (And, yup, The Swatchaholic’s photos of it were what created the lemming for me!) πŸ˜‰

I have a mini I could send you if you like, you know, just to keep you drooling over it! I also have a franken I made (that I am wearing at the moment) that I think you will really like. I may have been thinking of you when I made it πŸ˜‰ Let me know if you’d like me to send them to you.

You’re so sweet. But I can’t deprive you of your mini bottle. Seriously, that polish is so incredible. You need to cherish it. And your franken sounds very interesting. What colour is it? What did you use to make it? I’m so curious now!

I don’t need the mini bottle now that I have the full size. I’d be more than happy to share the polish love. I’ll send you an email.

I looked and it was very hard to find… even the salons that had this old collection in stock, didn’t have this particular color. I ended up getting Jem by Zoya! I wonder how it compares.

      Hey MC!

I don’t think I own Zoya Jem, but from photos I just looked at now, it seems like it’s pretty similar to SpaRitual Shooting Star actually!

(If any other readers see this and have both, feel free to leave a reply to let MC know what you think.)

    Hi Mary,
Love, love this color. Besides blues, now greens and purples seem to becoming my fav colors as well. This one does seem to look a little like Zoya Yasmeen, which I bought because I just loved the color of your swatches. Where would I be able to by the sparitual polish on line? Love the site. Have a great day, :~)

I commend you Mary for sporting these ‘darker’ shades in the summer. I am on a one-track mind through pastel and neon right now. Every now and then a voice inside my head guides me towards a shade like this one … only to have a pushy pastel shade (they look tame, but can get quite aggressive if provoked) butts in line.
This shade has so much character and plays with the light so nicely!
I quite like the bottle on this polish… for some reason the SpaRitual bottles make me think of fancy spas πŸ˜€
    Lovely post!

      Hey Marta!

Haha, as I type this now, I’m sporting a neon polish. There’s nothing quite like a polish pick-me-up, and I needed one! πŸ˜€

Hehehehe…who knew that those pastels were so pushy? Just goes to show you that you can’t judge a polish by its bottle. πŸ˜‰
