Rainbow Honey The Kraken Swatches & Review

Rainbow Honey The Kraken Swatches & ReviewRainbow Honey The Kraken from The Summer of 199X Collection reminds me so much of The Little Mermaid that I feel like I’m flipping my fins and getting into mischief while Sebastian the Crab is going nuts! 😉

This is one of the prettiest nail polish that I’ve worn in a long time.

It has that jellyish, ‘under-the-sea’ look, along with shimmer and glitter! It’s like looking at underwater treasure for your nails. 🙂

As you know, I’ve only worn a handful of Rainbow Honey nail polishes – it’s a new-to-me brand. So far, I’m highly impressed!

So, without further ado, release the Kraken! (Hehe, bonus points for anyone who gets that reference and who gets a giggle from it!)

Rainbow Honey The Kraken Review

Colour

The Kraken by Rainbow Honey is an aquatic delight because it’s a bold turquoise that makes me immediately think of the water, especially that in fantastical stories.

Finish

The base polish is a jelly, which means it’s translucent, almost like a gummy bear. There’s a lot of saturated colour, but the jelly adds greater depth and allows the glitter to shine through well, like underwater treasure!

You’ll also notice that, yes, baby, this is a major glitterbomb! There’s fine shimmer running throughout to complete that mermaid effect and to make it look almost like the sun is beating down. Then there are medium and large pieces of glitter, which are holographic!

Application & Formula

Sometimes with these kind of polishes, you can run into a chunky, thick mess that’s difficult to paint with. Thankfully, The Kraken by Rainbow Honey was a breeze to paint with. However, I can see that over time, this one will require thinner to keep its consistency. That just goes with the polish territory!

I used two coats to cover my nails. Although this has a jelly finish, I didn’t notice much visible nail line peeking through, but that’s because there was so much glitter!

Pros

  • Stunning turquoise
  • Cool jelly finish adds depth & allows glitter to shine through
  • Fine shimmer & medium plus large holographic pieces of glitter
  • Applied easily

Cons

  • This is really reaching, but I don’t really have a Con for it…maybe just that so far, you can only find it online, and because it’s an indie nail polish, it’s more than a typical polish. (But it’s worth it!)

Final Verdict: 10/10

Yup – you read that right! I gave The Kraken by Rainbow Honey a perfect score because it’s so beautiful, and it’s one of the most gorgeous polishes that I’ve worn in a while! I love the mermaid vibe, and there’s just enough shimmer and glitter to give it a magical appearance.

Have you tried any Rainbow Honey lacquers? Does this polish also remind you of The Little Mermaid? Do you prefer to wear jellies when some glitter’s mixed in?

      Hey Mandy!

Haha, I wore this well before I even got the OPI Glitter Off Base Coat, so unfortunately, I didn’t have that advantage. I removed it the ole fashioned way!
