Pretty Serious Hack the Halls Swatches & Review

Considering that green nail polish is my ‘Comfort Colour,’ it’s surprising how it’s been a while since I sported one!

Pretty Serious Hack the Halls, come to mama! 😉

Hailing from the Pretty Serious Ghosts of Christmas Future Collection, this new grass green with a metallic foil finish is what I imagine the lawns in the year 4000 to look like. (Maybe by then, they’ll be self-watering.)

Whoa – can you believe that Christmas is just days away? Where did December go? I feel like in the blink of an eye, the Efficient Elves came, wrapped up the month in curly ribbons, and are already preparing for next year’s campaign!

Hey, did any of you watch the Miss Universe 2015 competition? I rarely ever tune into beauty pageants, but I saw short snippets while also checking out Mariah Carey’s Christmas specials.

It was unfortunate that Steve Harvey flubbed his climactic announcement, which led to initially crowning the incorrect winner. However, this is just another reminder that people make mistakes. We’re human. And sadly, people get socially crucified when they’re not flawless. It didn’t help that, in his case, his mortifying mistake was broadcast live, opening a can of worms for ridicule and memes referencing that Kanye-Taylor-Beyonce awards-show moment.

I don’t know a lot about Steve Harvey, but the way he handled this major slip-up makes me respect him. He didn’t externalize things and list excuses for why he read the card wrong. He was accountable for his actions, he apologized to the appropriate individuals, and he expressed that he was upset about making the mistake.

It sounded genuine to me, and although it may affect his future career opportunities, it means a lot that he owned up to it right off the bat. (I’m not a fan of sweeping things under the rug due to inflated egos.)

Pretty Serious Hack the Halls Review

Colour

Take your nails to the future when you slick on this robotic-lizard green!

Hack the Halls by Pretty Serious is in my Comfort Zone because I have a soft spot for greens, but it also makes my heart race faster because it’s robust. It’s a take charge colour that isn’t wimpy. It’s a hue that wants to get noticed!

From a normal viewing distance, it looks like a punchy grass green, but when you look closer at the bottle and your nails, you might see that there’s a vibrant green, but also a lighter yellow-based green. Together, they blend beautifully for a harmonious effect.

Finish

How flashy! Hack the Halls by Pretty Serious seems to ‘glow’ from within, due to its metallic foil finish that reflects the light brilliantly.

Application & Formula

I was very impressed with Hack the Halls by Pretty Serious because the pigmentation was incredible! With just a single coat, I got full coverage, but out of habit, I still applied a second coat.

The formula is what I’ve come to expect from Pretty Serious Cosmetics’ nail polishes – they are smooth and easy to apply. This one was no exception – stellar!

Ingredients & Animal-Friendliness

If you’re making conscious shopping decisions, you’ll be happy to know that all of Pretty Serious Cosmetics’ nail polishes don’t contain Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, or Formaldehyde Resin. Also, they are vegan and cruelty-free.

Pros

  • ‘Glowy’ green with a metallic-foil finish
  • Smooth formulation
  • Excellent pigmentation (One-coater!)
  • No Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, or Formaldehyde Resin
  • Vegan & Cruelty-free

Cons

  • If you aren’t comfortable shopping online for nail polish, it can be tricky to get hold of Pretty Serious.

Final Verdict: 10/10

Yes, Pretty Serious Hack the Halls gets a ten out of ten because the colour made this nailphile’s heart sing and the formulation made polishing my nails a breeze! Highly recommend this if you’re looking for a gorgeous green!

Have you finished all your Christmas shopping, or will you be battling it out last minute? Which green nail polish spells the holidays to you? Will it be a green Christmas for you? (Here in Toronto, the weather forecast predicts that it’s going to be very mild, so it’s supposed to be a green Christmas.)
