Nail Art: What I Wore on My Nails for Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day Nails Nail Art SwatchValentine’s Day may be over, but I still wanted to show you what was on my fingertips.

My Valentine’s Day Nails included the traditional pink, red, and white, but I threw some black into the mix because I wanted it to have a bit of an anti-Valentine’s Day edge, too.

Initially, I was going to put hearts all over, but then opted for stripes for a different effect that was more sporty and unconventional for February 14. (Hehe, you know how I’m a little obsessed with vertical stripes on nails, right?)

This manicure is also symbolic because I believe everyone should ‘show their stripes’.

Although this striped skittle design is extremely simple, I ended up falling in love with it more than I thought I would. (I wore this manicure for 5 days!)

So, I’m single, and even though I didn’t get any flowers, chocolates, or stuffed toys, I still very much enjoy Valentine’s Day.

Last year, I went through an emotional split from a boyfriend a little before Valentine’s Day. From that horrible experience, a profound revelation arose. I realized that I had been in love with the man I thought he was, not the man he actually was. Huge difference!

This year, on February 14th, a guy who I just met recently professed his feelings for me! It was very sweet and genuine, so it made me feel like a million bucks! It also took me off-guard, which is a hard thing to do, because I’m pretty good at sensing these kind of things.

In a way, I considered this my Valentine’s Day gift because it put a huge smile on my face. (I know a lot of players who’ve just fed me lines that I can see through, but I think this guy is the real deal, so I took his words to heart.)

I’m still single, however. After having my heart stomped on in the past, I’m trying to be more discerning before going steady with anyone. For this reason, I’m casually dating some guys, and I’m honest about it.

Then, if I feel a spark with someone who I think is more long-lasting, I will go steady with one. If not, at least I’ve made new friends. In this way, I feel like I can keep my options open and avoid unnecessary heartbreaks from jumping in too soon and too fast. I believe that guys have to earn exclusivity by proving they’re in it for the long haul. Also, time is a great test because it lets you see how they’ll deal with problems that will eventually arise.

At some point, I’ll probably wear a bunch of these colours as solo manicures because the formulas were creamy and opaque. When I do, I’ll try to do a review on here. 🙂

How was your Valentine’s Day? Did you wear something traditional or unconventional on your nails for February 14th?

I liked your nail art, simple but sporty. A sense of v-day but still not girly with hearts and stuff. I think I wore light green nails, not because I wanted to, just because I was out of remover! I was thinking of putting hearts all over but I didn’t feel like doing it.

I also recognize the things you wrote about your ex. I think I was in love with someone I wanted my ex to be and what I thought he was. Sadly it took me years to realize he was rather the opposite, but I’m so glad I’m in a new and healthy relation now. Me and my bf didn’t do any thing special for valentines day. He was is school all day and worked til nine at night. But when he got home I’d made a passion fruit panna cotta for us to enjoy. Passion fruit as in passion as in love you know 😉 haha

      Hey Gelic’ Nail Art!

Haha, green on Valentine’s Day sounds awesome to me. You know me and green! 😉 *Thumbs up*

I think the small, thoughtful things in life are the most romantic. So the fact that your boyfriend took some time out of his very busy day to make a passion fruit panna cotta for both of you to enjoy together says that he’s a keeper. 🙂 Very sweet! I wish you both a long, healthy, and happy relationship!

Such a gorgeous mani ! My favourite colour is the pink, but together they look stunning, and make a lovely V-day mani. I wore a pink mani with a little owl on ( Owl love you .. lol )

I love how when you posted this look on Twitter you also took time to ask me how my Valentines day was, which was my first single Valentinesday in forever. Was really sweet of you. I like your dating motto, think I will give it a whirl too. Shows you who is in it for the long run too.

      Hey Lynette!

Yes, this pink is pretty bright, and it’s not flat – there’s some shimmer going on in there to keep it fiesty. 😉

Hehe, I love owls, and I love puns, so “Owl love you” is right up my alley! CUTE!

I hope that the right person comes into your life and brings laughter and extra happiness into your life. But, even singles can have a lot of fun and discover happiness on their own, too. Who knows what path life will lead us? It’s exciting!

Good for you. 🙂 I’ve been married almost 13 years and as much as I still love my husband I do wish I had spent more time being discerning and concentrating on myself. No reason to let yourself feel pressured into latching on to someone. Love your mani, too. Perfect balance of Valentine’s and anti-Valentine’s.

      Hey Lizzy!

Glad you liked the manicure AND understand my dating philosophy! I find that a lot of people don’t understand it, but I’m doing what I feel is the right thing for me. It’s nice to have one less person to have to ‘justify’ it to. 😉

And congrats to you on your marriage! 🙂 I wish you many more wonderful years. Through the good times and the bad times, it’s nice to have someone who you can rely on and share memories with. Very romantic that you’ve been together for nearly 13 years. Hearing things like this reinforce that relationships can work if you put in the effort, and if there’s true love.

      Hey Icequeen81!

Gotta love Seche Vite for that. It provides the glossiest finish, which is one of the many reasons why it’s my favourite!
