Nail Art Tutorial: Neon Rainbow Argyle Konadicure Using Konad Image Plate m60

Rainbow Neon Argyle Nail Tutorial Konadicure SwatchesEspecially in the summer, I love to crack out my neon nail polish. It’s so bright that even in the shade, it looks like it’s glowing! And that makes me really happy.

But this time, I couldn’t decide which neon polish to paint my nails with, so I decided to use four…plus Konad Image Plate m60 to give it a different flavor.

For this Neon Rainbow Argyle Konadicure, I used Essie Funky Limelight, China Glaze Sun Worshiper, China Glaze Pool Party, and China Glaze Kiwi Cool-Ada! Put those together and you’re ready for a manicure mambo!

It was much brighter in real life than in my photos. I think it was a fun look that I may try again with different colors.

What do you think? Will you be sporting any neons this summer?

Konad Image Plate m60 Review (Argyle)

This isn’t the first time that I’ve tried using the Argyle print from this Konad image plate. The first time was when I did this Nubar Indigo Illusion Konadicure.

The image was easy to pick up when I used the Konad Special Nail Polish in Black. But, as you’ll see in my swatches (particularly of my thumb), I didn’t quite get the entire image on my nail. That was due to my own fault, not the plate. For some reason, when my nails are longer, I tend to not put enough pressure on the tip of my nails and that’s why it happens.

What I Used:

  1. Nail Tek Foundation II Base Coat
  2. China Glaze Pool Party
  3. China Glaze Kiwi Cool-Ada
  4. China Glaze Sun Worshiper
  5. Essie Funky Limelight
  6. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
  7. Konad Stamper
  8. Konad Plastic Scraper
  9. Konad Image Plate m60 (Argyle pattern)

Step 1: Get everything you need ready

Crack open the bottles so you’re not struggling to open them when your nails are wet. Cover the surface you’re going to work on to prevent any nail-polish spills. Basically, do what you need to so you’re comfortable.

Step 2: Protect your nails with a good base coat

This will prevent staining. Also, if you use a milky base coat like I did, it’ll help make the neons pop a bit more than if you used the clear variety.

Step 3: Paint a small portion near the cuticle of your first color

Apply as many coats as you need to get it as opaque as possible.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 with the other colors until you reach the tip of your nails

Don’t worry if it looks super messy. You’ll cover it with nail stamping anyway.

Step 5: Wait for your nails to dry completely.

This is vital because if you start stamping on top right away, you’ll smudge your polish and/or the stamping design.

Step 6: Stamp on the argyle pattern.

If you’re new to the wonderful world of nail stamping or just want to read about some of my tips and tricks on it, please click to see my Konad Nail Stamping Tutorial here. It includes visual aids as well.

Step 7: Wait for the argyle design to dry.

This usually is pretty fast, but I’d wait a good 10 minutes just to be on the safe side.

Step 8: Carefully apply your favorite top coat to seal in your hard work.

Try to apply it with a very light hand so you don’t drag the image as much. As you can see, I had some dragging issues. Still, though, I think the overall effect turned out okay.

Hope you liked my crazy neon argyle Konadicure! It was especially fun to wear because I talk with my hands a lot. People kept staring at my nails! 😀

Which is your favorite neon nail polish to sport during the summer? Would you wear more than one neon at a time? Do you think all these neons plus Konad stamping on top is overkill?

It IS so much fun! And the best part about it is the ability to fully customize your manicure. Depending on how creative you get, you could be wearing a design that nobody else is wearing…and to me, that’s exciting!

Lately I’ve been really getting into it. My post tomorrow will feature a fruit manicure. And I have a few more nail-art posts coming up really soon, too. It’s so much fun!
