Madam Glam Cote d’Azur Swatches & Review

Madam Glam Cote d'Azur Swatches Review

Yesterday, it snowed here. *Sigh* Looking out my window at the white fluff falling from the sky made my stomach sink.

As beautiful as the snow is, and despite me being Canadian, I’m over it! (Heck, I’ve been ruffling my pom poms and rolling around the welcome wagon for spring many months before it arrived.)

But even when the weather isn’t ideal, at least one thing we have control over is our nail polish!

To make me forget about the snow (and to put me into spring mode), I reached for Madam Glam Cote d’Azur, which is a beautiful turquoise. It’s definitely one of those nail polishes that you have to see in person to truly appreciate!

Even a tortoise would rush towards this turquoise! 😉

Madam Glam Cote d’Azur is a nail polish that the camera reads wrong. Initially, it picked it up as a lagoon blue, but in person, it has enough green in it to make it appear turquoise. It’s more like a blue-based green.

After fiddling with my settings, I got the colour as close as I could to what my naked eye saw. However, in person, I’d say that it’s more saturated than photos would suggest.

Madam Glam Cote d’Azur Review

Colour

Cote d’Azur by Madam Glam is right up my alley because it’s a turquoise that has a lot of blue in it.

Although I captured the colour as best as I could, in person, it has a lively saturation to it that the human eye can pick up better than any camera. It’s vivid, but it’s not bright, yet it stands out.

The interesting thing about this nail polish is that in different lighting throughout the day, it seemed to morph. Sometimes it looked definitely more turquoise with strong green leanings, but other times, the blue came out more.

Finish

The creme-jelly finish has that ‘squishy’ look that I love because it offers more dimension to your nails than a standard creme. However, it’s also buildable, so you can get more coverage with additional coats.

You can use this nail polish to create fun Glitter Sandwich Manicures, where you layer glitter in between two coats of this. It would still allow the glitter to peek through.

Application & Formula

Cote d’Azur by Madam Glam has a smooth formula that goes on easily, is very forgiving, and is glossy.

The first coat went on very sheer, which is typical of jelly nail polishes. As long as you know this going in, it’s okay.

The second coat built up the opacity, but I still felt the need to use three coats for better coverage.

Does It Stain?

When you remove the nail polish, at first it gets onto your cuticles and ‘tints’ your nails a mild turquoise. However, it’s not permanent staining!

Simply take as much off with your nail-polish remover as you can. Then, wash your hands a few times with a good soap. All of it will come right off and won’t leave you with blue or green nails, so don’t worry!

Cruelty-Free

Madam Glam nail polishes are cruelty-free and not tested on animals.

Ingredients

Madam Glam nail polishes are 5-free, so they don’t contain Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Toluene, or Camphor.

To see a complete list of ingredients, scroll up to see the photo I took of the bottom of the bottle, which contains this information.

Pros

  • Gorgeous turquoise
  • Has a ‘squishy’, glossy, translucent appearance
  • Opacity can be built up with multiple coats
  • Cruelty-free
  • Not tested on animals
  • No Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Toluene, or Camphor

Cons

  • Creme-jelly formula starts off sheer (but can be built up with additional coats or layered with glitter to create Glitter Sandwich Manicures)
  • If you don’t shop online, it could be tricky to find Madam Glam nail polishes

Final Verdict: 8/10

Cote d’Azur by Madam Glam is a vibrant colour that breathes life into your nails! I absolutely loved wearing this, and even though you need to build it up to get full coverage (which is typical of polishes with this finish), it’s worth it!

Would you wear this polish layered with glitter or built up for more opacity? Have you tried any Madam Glam nail polishes?

      Hey Melissa!

I’ve only tried a few Madam Glam nail polishes, but out of the ones I have, I really like them! 🙂 Plus their bottle is very unique.

      Hey Joyce!

I don’t think I own OPI Fly, but from comparing what I’ve seen online to my Madam Glam polish, I think that Cote d’Azur is has more blue in it. They don’t seem to be close dupes, so you could justify owning both. Hope that helps!
