Justin Bieber Someday Eau de Parfum Review & Canadian Giveaway

Justin Bieber Someday Eau de Parfum Review

Justin Bieber Someday is an eau de parfum that was originally released in 2011. It was later sold and is currently under the careful wing of Elizabeth Arden.

Marketed towards his fan base of primarily females aged 14 to 18 (at least back then), it’s no secret that I fall way outside that demographic. (I fall somewhere between the Paleozoic and Triassic eras, to be exact.)

Nevertheless, I put down my granny cane, adjusted my spectacles, lined up my doilies, and poured myself some Earl Grey tea into a gold-rimmed cup laced with English roses before getting ready to test out this fragrance. Why? I believe that anyone can wear whatever scent they want. “Age is just a number,” said this blogging dinosaur.

Even when a fragrance is made for a specific gender, age, or personality, if you feel great wearing it, go for it! Dissolve those unnecessary boundaries. The world has built enough walls.

Before we begin the Justin Bieber Someday perfume review, I want you to know where I’m coming from. Generally, I tend to enjoy the sweeter, gourmand eau de parfums, and even those that aren’t necessarily billed as being sweet become that way when interacting with my body chemistry. However, in the past year, I have also started to enjoy more mature, floriental and spicy fragrances.

Created by Honorine Blac, the perfumer of Fiermenich, Justin Bieber Someday is classified as a fruity gourmand fragrance. From the description alone, it sounds like something I might like.

In this post, you’ll see photos of the bottle and hear my thoughts on what I think of the Justin Bieber Someday perfume.

P.S. I’m having a spontaneous surprise: a Justin Bieber Someday 50 mL Eau de Parfum giveaway for a brand new bottle! Justin Bieber Someday Eau de Parfum Review

Fragrance

Immediately upon spraying the Justin Bieber Someday perfume onto my wrists, I detected the mandarin and berries in the top notes. The entire scent was sweet, as the pear softens everything and keeps the citrus and berries from translating as tart or too sharp. (Sometimes the top notes of fragrances are really strong, but this wasn’t obnoxious.)

After just a couple of minutes, the scent dries down, and the heart reveals itself. This is when the sensual jasmine and creamy florals begin to take over, and the berries nod as they take a backseat. Then, slowly, like the ebb and flow of the ocean waves, the mandarin fades, but it never disappears until the fragrance as a whole takes its last breath.

Then, approximately an hour afterwards, the eau de parfum hits its base notes of vanilla and soft musk.

From the heart to the base notes, the perfume maintains a creaminess that is more comforting and cozy than attention-seeking. It wears close to the skin and isn’t overpowering. It’s one of those ‘cuddler’ scents because people who come closer to you will experience it. (You won’t have to worry about filling up the elevator with perfume when wearing this. It’s not a hit-you-with-a-ton-of-bricks scent. It’s more like a tickle-you-with-a-feather fragrance.)

Overall, Justin Bieber Someday has a youthful personality that’s flirty yet calming at the same time. It’s like the sweet girl next door who brought you homemade cookies and a pot of yellow tulips after she heard that your pet passed away.

This scent is suitable to wear every day, as it’s not dramatic. Although I would prefer to wear it during the daytime, I can see that some may also like to use it for nights out because of the creaminess.

Longevity

When I used one spray per wrist, the Justin Bieber eau de parfum lasted for about four hours before it faded on me. However, even at the end of a long day, I was able to detect it on my wrists (but only if I put my nose close to my skin).

You’ll get more mileage if you use two sprays on each wrist and then dab your wrists onto the sides of your neck. This method makes the fragrance last longer and stronger for about six hours on me.

If you apply this Justin Bieber perfume before heading off to work in the morning, it’s the kind that you’d consider reapplying before going out for a night on the town. You can top up the scent, and it doesn’t become overkill. This is especially lovely because it’s marketed to teenagers who may be experimenting with fragrance for the first time. With this scent, you can’t apply too much, unless you go berserk and spray it ten times!

Packaging

The box is a cube with hearts on four sides and a photo of a young Justin Bieber on one. Purple is the predominant colour used in a gradient, except on the front, which has vibrant accents of magenta and pink.

Surrounding many of the hearts is a holographic outline. This ties into the name “Someday,” which is embossed and holographic.

The outer packaging is oriented towards teenaged girls, and the heart designs remind me of some of the doodles on my notebooks in elementary school.

Opening up the box, there’s a purple gradient again. Sitting at the very bottom and cradled in cardboard to keep it protected on its ‘throne,’ is the bottle that was designed by Lance McGregor.

Extremely girly and fun, the bottle stopper is the statement, as it’s comprised of layered hearts that are combined to look like a flower in bloom. The ‘petals’ are made of soft, flexible plastic and transition from light pink to a rich rose for another gradient.

Hanging off the underside of the bottom petal is a lobster clasp and a ring that dangles two dainty charms: a key and a heart with a keyhole. (You can open the clasp and then hook it onto something else like a keychain.)

The key has a circular pattern and texture along the handle and shaft on one side, and it’s smooth on the other.

The heart has clear faux-diamonds that sparkle, and in the middle is a keyhole. On the back, it’s smooth.

Finally, the round and stout bottle is a light, translucent purple that reminds me of watercolours.

To open, you pull off the top two hearts (or ‘petals’), which reveals the spray nozzle and leaves the bottom two light-pink ‘petals’ attached to the base.

Charity

According to the bottom of the box: “All net profits from sales are donated to charity.*”

(* Donations to charities are after taxes, royalties, expenses and company requirements are deducted.)

Pros

  • Fruity, flirty & youthful gourmand that’s easy to sport anytime
  • Soft & comforting ‘cuddler’ scent that stays close to the skin
  • Lasts for a decent amount of time, but can also be touched up without making it smell too strong
  • Suitable for teens or anyone who likes a youthful, sweet scent that isn’t dramatic
  • Fun bottle features a stopper that looks like a flower in bloom
  • Cute charms are included & the lobster clasp can be removed, so you can hang the charms off something else like a keychain
  • Since this fragrance was released in 2011, you can often find it on sale for much less than the retail price
  • All profits from sales of this perfume are donated to charity

Cons

  • Generic fruity gourmand celebrity scent that’s pleasant, but not a perfume that I would consider to be a signature scent that people remember you by
  • The lasting power is okay (4-6 hours before fading), but not the longest

Final Verdict: 7.5/10

The Someday by Justin Bieber perfume is a safe choice to give to someone who hasn’t experimented much with fragrances because it’s soft and pleasant, and it would take a lot to spray too much on.

I see this scent as a great “My First Perfume.” It’s not offensive, and it’s also not dramatic, so you can wear it on a daily basis to nearly any occasion. While it’s more suited for the day, I can see that some would still wear it at night.

While it’s nice, I don’t think it’s unique enough that strangers who catch a whiff as you walk by would stop to ask you what you’re wearing. It’s pleasant, but not mesmerizing like a signature scent.

What was the first perfume or cologne that you ever wore? Do you wear fragrances that were originally designed for the opposite gender? How much do you switch up your scents?

My favourite artists right now are Sam Smith and Adele. I’m also loving Pentatonix and their Christmas music; that’s Christmas to me and just for now are probably my fave Christmas songs by them. This is such a nice giveaway for the holidays.
