Essie Looks to Thrill Review
Colour
With just enough saturation, Looks to Thrill by Essie has enough punch for a bold summer manicure that isn’t too bright.
More vivid than a peach, this orange brings a citrus twist to your nails in style!
Finish
The simple creme finish allows the colour to be the true star of the show without needing any bells or whistles in the form of shimmer. The advantage of this finish? It’s easy to remove, so you won’t need to scrub your digits raw.
It also is very shiny, even before you apply a glossy top coat, so it lives up to Essie’s claims that it has a gel-like shine.
Application & Formula
Since the Gel Couture brushes are wider than the standard Essie brushes, each stroke covers more area quicker. Plus the formula is smooth, which is easy to work with.
You could get full coverage with two coats with a careful application, however in my above swatches, I used three coats to be on the safe side.
I experienced a little bubbling after applying my final coat. However, when I used the matching Essie Gel Couture Top Coat, it helped to smooth out the overall appearance.
The beauty of the Essie Gel Couture colours is that they have a base coat built in, which means that you can complete your manicure quickly, diving straight into the colour.
Ingredients
Similar to other Essie nail polish, the Gel Couture line is formulated without Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP.

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
If you’re looking for a polish that isn’t a pale peach or a retina-searing neon, try Essie Looks to Thrill for a bright and summery manicure that isn’t over-the-top!
Have you tried any of the Essie Gel Couture nail polishes? Which shades of orange do you tend to wear the most? (For me, it would be peachy ones.)
This is a really pretty color and it looks great on you, but I think I’ll have to pass. Besides this color looking a little weird on me, I think for the price, it shouldn’t bubble or take 3 coats to reach complete opacity. Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to see your reviews of the other polishes in this collection.
Hey Melissa!
I was surprised that it bubbled, but the hot weather could’ve also played a factor. I’ll have to try wearing the other colours to get a better idea how consistent (or inconsistent) the formula is across the board.
Sounds like a plan! I look forward to your review of some of the other colors. Thanks as always for having such a great blog!
Hey Melissa!
Thanks for making my day with your encouraging words and kindness. It never goes unappreciated in this corner of the Web! 🙂
