OPI DS Temptation Swatches & Review

OPI DS Temptation Swatches & ReviewOPI DS Temptation has the perfect name because it surely tempted me in the store…multiple times! I can’t even tell you how many times I picked this up to admire it and then put it back in the display. (I swear I heard the bottle screaming about being abandoned…)

And while it tempted me, it teased my camera like a burlesque dancer. It was very hard to take good photos of it because of all the twinkling glitter. Even the slightest hand movement blurred the image!

(And, yes, I still refuse to use a tripod. Haha, I prefer to complain about the same thing! Mary is stubborn. And she likes to refer to herself in the third person sometimes.) 😉

While OPI DS Temptation is a far cry from the absolutely perfect, smooth holographic nail polishes in the old OPI Designer Series line, I still think that it’s pretty, and I enjoyed wearing it.

But the question is: Was it worth the higher OPI Designer Series polish price tag? Allow me to tell you my nail-snob opinion! 😉

Zoya Myrta Swatches & Review

Zoya Myrta Swatches & ReviewZoya Myrta is like the bright, citrus smell that permeates a room when someone peels a tangerine. No, it doesn’t smell like the fruit, but it makes me think of that vibrancy and energy.

(This was actually the very first colour I wore when I received the Zoya Beach & Surf Summer 2012 Collection!)

I don’t often feature orange nail polish on here because, well, I don’t have too many. But I’ve been straying out of my comfort zone more and more.

Zoya Myrta is a really fun colour that I think is great for the summer because it’s warm and sunny. But I can also see how this would be a great pick in October for Hallowe’en.

nailgirls Aqua 1 Swatches & Review

nailgirls Aqua 1 Swatches & ReviewA little while ago, the owner of nailgirls contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in trying out one of her nail polishes. How could I resist? (I couldn’t!)

Before I knew it, I was tearing open a surprise package. Inside, I found a bottle of nailgirls Aqua 1, which is a great pastel blue that’s perfect for the spring and summer.

Prior to this, I don’t remember hearing about this brand or seeing it, so I was really curious to try a new-to-me nail polish!

So how did it fare? How was the formula? Allow me to tell you!

Essie Mesmerize Swatches & Review

Essie Mesmerize Swatches & ReviewEssie Mesmerize was the first Essie nail polish that really got my attention. Up until they put this out, Essie mainly churned out very traditional hues like reds, pinks, whites, and sheers.

I remember how blown away all us nailphiles were when Essie put out a blue nail polish! It made me so excited and curious to see how they would explore new colour territory.

This is a nice blue, sure, but I mainly bought this because of what it represented – the shift from conservative to modern. As a nail-polish collector/lover, I just had to have it because it was an important piece of lacquer history.

P.S. Every single time I look at this polish, I always have this train of thought: Mesmerize – Hypnotize – Notorious B.I.G…and then I end up singing, “Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, can’t you see? Sometimes your words just hypnotize me. And I just love your flashy ways.”

China Glaze Shocking Pink Swatches & Review

China Glaze Shocking Pink Swatches & ReviewYou’re seeing way more pink nail polish on Swatch And Learn than ever before – it’s a record!

Although my true love is purple and my true lust is green, neon pink nail polish is what makes me weak in the knees like SWV. And as we’re approaching the summer, I crave neons like a juicy, grilled steak.

China Glaze Shocking Pink is a polish I recently purchased, but it’s an old colour. If you don’t already have a neon-pink polish, I highly recommend this one.

When I wore this manicure last week, a bunch of people at work were asking me about the colour. 🙂 This is certainly a shade that attracts a lot of attention.

Zoya Wednesday Swatches, Review & Comparison

Zoya Wednesday Swatches & ReviewIt’s Wednesday! Happy Hump Day!

You may have heard of a nail-polish group online called “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink”. Hehe, well, how about wearing Zoya Wednesday on Wednesdays? 😉 I think it’s a great way to celebrate the middle of the week.

Aqua nail polishes like Zoya Wednesday are always a treat to wear. They’re flattering on so many different skin tones, and I find myself reaching for them often when the mercury rises.

Do you have a particular colour that you reach for more in the spring and summer?
