My Top 5 Favourite Greens

My Top 5 Favourite GreensFor a while, I’ve been wanting to share My Top 5 Favourite Greens with you all. And, during the past year, quite a few of you have asked me to do so. I’m finally getting around to it! 😀

As you know, green nail polish is my weakness. It’s my comfort colour. It’s what I can’t seem to get sick of wearing. It’s love, but also lust. 😉

It was really tough to whittle it down and to just pick 5, but I did it. (Haha, watch, right after I publish this, I’m going to have a moment where I go, “Ahhh! I forgot to include [insert the name of a green polish here]!”

Come see what made the cut.

China Glaze Ride the Waves Swatches & Review

China-Glaze-Ride-the-Waves-Swatches-ReviewDon’t let China Glaze Ride the Waves fool you! In the bottle, it just looks like your standard medium blue nail polish, but it’s so much more than that. (It’s like a surfer dude who can also give people a run for their money during a philosophical debate!)

So you can imagine how surprising it was when it turned out to be a jelly lacquer!

I have a soft spot for jellies because they have more depth than your typical creme or shimmer polish. It has that ‘squishy’ look.

Since I don’t have any dupes of this particular blue jelly polish, it scored major points in my book.

Nail Art Tutorial: British Union Jack Nails

British Union Jack Nails Nail Art Tutorial & PicturesBritish Union Jack Nails are everywhere, I watched this cycle of America’s Next Top Model (“British Invasion”), and it’s the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. What better time than this to challenge myself with a new freehand nail-art design? 🙂

Indeed, it has been far too long since my last nail-art tutorial. I’m feeling rusty, but I’ll try my best to stop making excuses and to bring you another fun tutorial.

Now, just want to put it out there – these British flag nails aren’t completely accurate. If you want to stay true to the flag, make your horizontal and vertical red lines thicker than the diagonal ones. Also, don’t connect the red diagonal lines to the center like I did.

Despite the inaccuracy, I was very happy with it because it’s very bold and eye-catching. 😉 In fact, the first day I wore this design to work, everyone I spoke with noticed. Plus I didn’t have to explain that it was the British flag – they got it right away. (And it reminds me a bit of Captain America…haha!)

Even if you’re not a Brit (Hey, I’m not! Canadian here!), I urge you to give this a go. It’s fast to paint, you don’t need many colours, and the main design just consists of straight lines.

Come…let me show you how to do it. With written instructions and step-by-step photos, you’ll be recreating Union Jack nail art in no time! 🙂

OPI If You Moust You Moust Swatches & Review

OPI-If-You-Moust-You-Moust-Swatches-ReviewPink polish isn’t something I typically wear, but with my newborn niece being born just days ago, I had to sport something traditional to pay tribute to her.

OPI If You Moust You Moust comes from the OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection, and it’s a playful pink that I actually think looks okay on my skin tone.

Most of the time, pinks make my fingers look dirty or just ‘off’. So this was a real shocker!

Maybe if I’m able to find shades like this, I’ll be able to wear pinks more often. Haha, oh, who am I kidding? I’m a green and purple lover at heart! 😉

Color Club Wild At Heart Swatches & Review

Color Club Wild At Heart Swatches & ReviewIt seems like such a crime that I’ve never reviewed Color Club Wild At Heart on here until now. Put the handcuffs on me, and lock me away!

Sure, I’ve flossed it in a holographic-rainbow leopard nail-art post a while back, but it really deserves to have the spotlight focused on it solo.

I’m gonna call it like it is right here: This is the most perfect grape holographic polish I have in my entire collection. It’s pigmented and the holo effect is stunning.

There were some bloggers who’ve said that they got duds, but my bottle seems to be the good formula because I was far from disappointed! 🙂 In fact, the first stroke I painted with this, I remember getting giddy because I couldn’t believe how it was a one-coater!

China Glaze Harvest Moon Swatches & Review

China Glaze Harvest Moon Swatches & ReviewChina Glaze Harvest Moon is a brilliant copper polish, and since I don’t have much of this kind of colour, I really enjoyed wearing it. It was a breath of fresh air!

I love how this colour looks like it’s lit from within in some lighting and then has dancing shimmer in other lighting.

One thing’s for certain – this is a terrific summer colour that also would be right on point in the fall, too.

After yesterday’s China Glaze disappointment, I had to post a rave about another colour just to balance out the book. 😉 When they get it right, oh boy, do they ever get it right!

China Glaze Optical Illusion Swatches & Review

China Glaze Optical Illusion Swatches & ReviewWhenever polishes have so many shiny things going on like in China Glaze Optical Illusion, my camera has a tough time capturing it properly. (Okay, so I’m blaming my camera. It’s really the photographer’s fault. :P)

Warning: My photos make the polish look more silvery than it is in person. Please refer to my written description of the polish for better accuracy.

Do any of you have tips on how to better photograph really blingy polishes? I’m all ears…and nails! 😉

This polish comes from the China Glaze Prismatic Chroma Glitters Collection, which looked interesting. This was one of the two colours that I was most interested in trying.

Even though I liked the name of the polish and the idea behind the collection, let me tell you why I’m not crazy about Optical Illusion.
