Illamasqua Nurture Swatches & Review

Illamasqua-Nurture-Swatches-ReviewIllamasqua Nurture is a look-at-me green from the limited-edition Rubber Brights Collection that has a unique ‘rubberized’ finish instead of the traditional glossy look.

I really love Illamasqua because they’re a brand that never seems to shy away from doing something different and risky. And their photoshoots are some of the most artistic and dramatic ones in the beauty industry!

While I haven’t worn many matte or rubber finishes, I’m always open for trying new nail looks. So I gave this a shot. The green already was right up my alley.

What was the verdict on this rubberized green? There’s only one way to find out! 😉

China Glaze Deviantly Daring Swatches & Review

China-Glaze-Devitantly-Daring-Swatches-ReviewNearly every single time I went to type China Glaze Deviantly Daring, my fingers had a mind of their own and typed Deviant Darling!

This beauty is from the China Glaze New Bohemian Collection, and it’s a flashy teal. If it were a human, it would want to be the crazy naked person who runs across the pitch during a soccer game and then gets escorted away in handcuffs. Now that’s deviant!

I’m very grateful to have had a chance to wear all of the colours in the New Bohemian Collection. And out of all 6 hues, this one, Unpredictable, and Rare & Radiant are my favourites.

Zoya Monica Swatches & Review

Zoya-Monica-Swatches-Review“You need to give it up. Had about enough. It’s not hard to see. The boy is mine.”

When I heard about Zoya Monica, the first thing that sprung to mind was the sultry song from the late 90s featuring Monica and Brandy.

Yup, here’s another shade from the Zoya NYFW 2012 Collection!

A soft blue-toned purple like Monica is simple, but it still gets my attention.

And with creme polishes, you really can do all sorts of nail art on top. They make for great base colours.

Zoya Frida Swatches & Review

Zoya-Frida-Swatches-ReviewMaybe it was all the peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches that I used to eat as a kid, but I have a mild obsession with jelly nail polishes. They have depth and are sooo shiny!

So when I heard about Zoya Frida from the NYFW 2012 Collection, I was really excited to see how it would translate onto the nail.

Although I wanted to love it, I only like it. Why? Read on to find out!

P.S. Every time I went to type “Frida”, I kept typing “Friday”. Shows you where my mind is…

China Glaze Want My Bawdy Swatches & Review

China-Glaze-Want-My-Bawdy-Swatches-ReviewHave you been feeling blue lately? China Glaze Want My Bawdy from the New Bohemian Collection has, but it wouldn’t be any other way!

This blue nail polish surprised me because I thought it was going to be a duochrome, however, the finish was a straight-up chrome.

Nevertheless, this one is gorgeous, and I loved the rich contrast.

It looks magnificent especially in sunlight, although I didn’t have my camera handy when Mr. Sun decided to say hello. Still, you can see some of the magic in my photos with the camera’s flash.

And…what a cheeky name this polish has. It’s trying to use its nail-polish wiles to lure us in! 😉

Zoya Elisa Swatches & Review

Zoya-Elisa-Swatches-ReviewOkay, if you know me well, you know that I tend not to jump up and down over red nail polish. Normally I’m lying down, yawning, and dreaming of David Beckham…or more recently, Colin Farrell! 😉

(Oh my, I just saw Total Recall on Sunday night, and when he was shirtless, my eyes got bigger! Don’t know why I never paid attention to him until now…Maybe I need a new prescription for my glasses.)

However, there are the rare days when I feel ‘the itch’ to sport a classic red. And then there are some that actually get my attention because they stand apart from the generic sea of reds.

Zoya Elisa is a red that not only got my attention, but  also made me admire my nails throughout the day like a vain polish peacock!

Zoya Natty Swatches & Review

Zoya-Natty-Swatches-ReviewEven though I love sparkly and shimmery blues, my heart always seems to skip a beat when I come across dusty blues. Maybe it’s because I don’t have too many in my collection.

(The first time I realized I loved dusty blues was when I tried Sally Hansen’s Gray by Gray, but that shade’s much lighter and more grey than Zoya Natty.)

Zoya Natty is a gorgeous dusty blue nail polish from the Designer Collection, which is a subset of the Zoya NYFW 2012 Collection.

This lacquer is really sexy to me because it’s different than what I usually wear, and although it’s just a simple creme finish, I can’t think of any colour I have that’s a dupe for it.

P.S. Hope that my fellow Canadians are enjoying the long weekend! 🙂
